Mobile gaming is definitely moving forward, but to say they will replace Consoles, is like saying that consoles were going to replace PC gaming.
Mobile gaming is in a different area to Console.
People like the large screen and handheld controls Consoles offer.
Maybe in the future the mobile will be the hardware that links up to the TV by cable or wireless and a contoller.
There may be less imputes to move from 7 to 8, but people still need computers with OS's.
And in the same way sites like this get all excited over the latest IOS, people still like to upgrade.
In the future though they probably won't pay do much to upgrade their own machine, as like he says OS's aren't as important as they used to be.
Of course hardware manufactures want the upgrade as it drives sales it the same way brown is the next black is the next blue.
Salesforce doesn't offer that upgrade cycle to hardware manufacturers, who advertise A LOT....
James Pond???
Surely must be in the list
Re: This is my Grandfather's Axe...
Bit like Only Fools and Horses when Trigger wins an award from the council for owning the same broom for 20 years.
It'shad 17 new heads and 14 new handles, but still the same broom.
Re: My Homepage is going....
Ok so doing a quick search this morning and this one looks good for the PC (not looked at for mobile)

My Homepage is going....
Like most of the above, I have used iGoogle as my home page for years now.
Great for quickly seeing, hotmail, gmail, evernote, weather and surf reports.
Quite miffed they are taking it away.
Can the register to a review of alternatives for the desktop?
At £100 a router, a pair would be a little steep for Powerline.
Better getting a decent router and a pair of the TPLink or Devolo's for around £60
I setup Devolo's in my parents house and they love the roaming 4/5 bars around the whole house, where before the iPad would drop out in half of it.
Being on the road a lot, I want portability but performace.
Currently my T500 with 15.3inch screen is nice, but 17inch would be fantastic.
Be able to have 2 apps on the screen at the same time.
Would just have to see how much it weighs, real battery life and could I get it in my laptop bag :)
So steal the looks and weight of an Ultrabook, but give me the power, battery and screen of a laptop...
Some of the problems is that people have different requirements for PC's, which often overlap the silly group names.
I don't want a netbook, ultrabook, superbook or thebestestbook, I personally want a laptop, that is:
Powerful enough for: office, internet, watching video's, editing photos and occasionally editing video from snowboarding (games would be nice but I have a PS3).
Battery: I would like it to have 6hours of normal use, though I know it will be a bit heavier (if batteries were cheaper, they could come with a slim 3hr battery and stylish, but heavy 6/8hr one as I have on my work'slenovo T500)
Screensize: Large enough to use, all the grads get the manbag size 11 & 13inch and regret it after a while. I like to have a wide screen 15inch so I can have email and word open, or 2 excel docs, (or a video and firefox :) side by side for multi tasking and making life easier
I would like it to be stylish, sleek and not too heavy (when I think apple I think these, when I think PC, only Sony and some samsung come close, but then they are plasticy and break easy, all my perception of course).
But as said this is just me, I travel a lot in hotels most weeks, watch movies, use the internet, work with multiple docs, tools and screens.
The problem is the marketing, media and pigeon holing of machines. Really people prefer cheaper machines at the moment, possibly due to price or screensize.
Also if I am going to splash out, then might as well splash out on Apple as they make good stuff, that is nice to use, lasts and has good customer service, thus worth the higher price (which can be seen in the tablet and phone markets)
I'm guessing he used this one

Which has the nice little error msg at the top of the page "<--- Ummm, guys.. this is the WRONG WAY TO DO THINGS Each time you need to show an appnote you don't make a copy of an entire SQL query. The query should be centralized like somehwere under /includes/ and fed an ID number to query. Then it passes the data out as variables to your thermocron page, or whatever. ---> "
Also BangCD
BangCd also have something similar.
BCD News [bcdnewsletter@bangcd.com]
When i email them, they replied that someone is sending out their emails to discredit them/get them on a banned list.
I receivea a couple a day.
Since they replied to my email quickly, I'm not going to cry over a few emails, espeically when they are aware of the problem and trying to go something about it.
