Problem is most people have no idea what the problem is...
Apple pays its taxes in the countries it makes its sales. The problem is the US wants to charge the difference between the country rates and the US rates when Apple tries to move the cash into the US. The result is the cash stays offshore unless the country has a >= 35% tax rates, in which case Apple can bring the cash to the US without additionnal charge.
For example, if Canada tax rate is at 25%, Apple pays 25% to Canada on sales made in Canada. But if they move the profits made in Canada to the US, the US wants another 10% on top of what Apple already paid (35% - 25% = 10%). This is where the US system is flawed.
This has absolutly nothing to do with tax dodging. Apple does do it with itunes sales in some cases (example: itunes ireland hub deserved the EU), but not with hardware. Tax dodging with software sales or ads is a major problem with Google and Amazon, but not Apple.
"For years Apple has dominated mobile, both in terms of market share..."
WTF are you talking about? I don't recall Apple dominating the smartphone market at any point in time. They pretty much get all the profits, but not the market shares.
And number are very deceiving, last quarter was the S3 first 3 months and it was Apple 4s last 3 months. Lets look at the chart in february again and compare...
The china chart is a joke, 95% of the android phones sold there a complete junk than can barely run any app because they are running old Android versions on junk hardware.
Nothing is free
I prefer to pay more for Apple products not only because of quality, but because I am not going to sell my soul to Google "free" offerings. Google is ad based and they literally rip off every single thing you do in order to push you context ads and now geographic ads. Try sending you're self various emails to you're Gmail and look at the ads... Google is reading you're mail and is recording everything you do. Google will also relay everything to any government agency if requested.
Android may be free, but there is a tradeoff. And dumping hardware at cost is currently destroying the entire tech sector into an unprecedented race to the bottom.
Re: Utterly contempable
If you think the case was about rectangles you obviously dont know jack about it.
Re: I think that I should....
Actually apple lost on the rectangle with round squares patent.
Re: PC market without the iPad
I am afraid that if you remove tablets from the equation, the only top 5 manufacturer with growth in Q3 in the US is... Apple. So Apple is doing fine in the PC market, with or without the ipad.
If you have a number named company trying to buy you the iTV name, you need to be one hell of an idiot to not think it may be Apple. Same goes for iPAD back then.

Some loud mouthed hyperbole laden dude with a microphone and a Sony camcorder airs a scathing report on his blog about the slave sweatshops run by the Illuminati managed Foxconn, secretly owned by Apple: the absolute and unquestionable truth
I am on Bell IPTV using a Motorola Box. Bell will soon offer a choice of Apple TV, Apple Box or Motorola Android box. Major upgrade from the windows CE those box are rcurrently running.
They need to boycott all phones and tablets if they are true to there convictions
I hope people will realize that if you want to boycott because of working condition in China, you need to simply not buy phones or tablets at all because they are all made there. Foxconn is in fact one of the best of those factories where workers line up in hope to get a job.
If you're going to buy a Samsung phone instead you are shooting yourself in the foot twice, you're hurting a US company over a Corean one and you're not helping conditions in China at all...
Americans are completely disconnect from the dynamic of the situation in China. The factories may not be paradise, but the alternative is even worst. Its up to the Chine governement and the people of China to come up with solutions.
You obviously didnt saw the footage. They didnt open because the Police ask them for security reasons. And the problems came from the scalpers, not the fanbois.
Apple entreprise program
Apple entreprise program gives IT full control on app deployment and security. Entreprise dont put there app on the app store and deploy with itunes...
The poor guy cant watch is 1TB bittorrents? If he has access to internet why not just get netflix? Or maybe convert his torrents to .m4v and put them on the ipad before he goes away? The guy is either very dumb or this story is completely fake.
Got it on a link and it didnt auto-install
indeed, i got it from a google link yesterday. It did downloaded automaticly without asking but at the install step I got a confirmation pop-up. In fact, nothing can be install on my mac without prompting for the password and I didnt changed any settings regarding security.
The key is app is short for applications
Apple did brough the term "App Store" in volume to the world. The key point here is App is short for Application.
Now the problem is they should had file a patent for it back in 2008, not now. Thanks to Apple "App Store", the therm App is now used for application on a massive scale. Basiltly its too late to patent it.
Thats a lot of speculation over a job advert. I am pretty confident Apple has a very specific plan for there N. Carolina plant and its cloud services.
We will know when they annonced it... but so far pretty much nothing has leak indeed.
You could jailbreak the AppleTv and put XBMC on it. imo dont buy anything on itunes until they start there clould based sercive. Managing DRM files sucks indeed.
The thing I do is I store my files on the NAS then drag them into itunes WITHOUT copying them (its in the itunes settings), so they are only shortcuts in itunes. You do need to have a PC/Mac on and running itunes but at least your files are on the NAS. This may change when the AppleTV has apps.
Apple Entreprise Program
Apple entreprise program gives companies full access to there iDevices for vertical applications. IT can actually run there own private app store and have full control of the devices without having Apple in the loop.
I worked in IT btw and idevices are great for entreprise deployment...
Simply BS imo
Looks like your Co. didnt got into the entrerprise program? why? entreprise to use itunes to deploy software updates on ipads...
And an easy, legal and no jailbreak way to bypass itunes is Iphone Explorer...
I love Apple produits and OS but I sincerily think there publisher policy is seriously flaw and hope it crash and Burns. Its like apple only has one field to store percentage, everything doesn't have to be 30%. And it's obvious reseller of content like amazon, Netflix, hulu, zinio can't pay the same cut to apple has a publisher who sell is content directly in the app store.
I particular hate the rule that force to sell at the same price they offer on there websites, that got to be illegal...
