But surely you should also provide evidence that it isn't happening?
As for Al Gore, I've no interest in listening to the "do as I say, not as I do" brigade which Prince Charles is a member of.
You also say that the job of a CEO is to make money, but this surely covers cutting costs and since energy is expensive it makes sense to waste less energy.
Hmmm I'm not aware on any kind of Marxist government in this country. Tell us exactly what Marxist policies exist in British politics.
The fact that you quote from Wikipedia means nothing, since you could have easily changed the figures. Hardly surprising from a party who weren't aware of what impact Polish pilots had in WW2 though.
You really should look at the racially pure people in Roger Ballen's photos.
Yes because using Microsoft's patents worked out so well for TomTom didn't it. A company the size of Cisco should know better than to break license agreements.
The Linksys products that used those licenses actually makes it easier for Cisco because the Free Software movement provided firmware upgrades without Cisco having to do it themselves.
Obviously you have never used the .Net framework for any kind of serious development either. I've never met any developer who was an expert in both - I've heard people claim to be experts in both but that doesn't make it so.
The .Net framework goes way beyond just web development so cannot be compared like-for-like with PHP. Don't get me wrong as I'm aware that Apache is better than IIS in its design, and that PHP blew ASP out the water.
Does it really matter if .Net is platform neutral? As for being unmaintainable, well I've never had any trouble with sites that were well written.
Please we don't want to hear that you prefer XP to an OS you haven't actually used. You have an OS that you are happy with, but do you really need to ram it down our throats constantly.
That also goes for people using Macs and *NIX systems. I'm not anti other OS's but the grass isn't always greener. I like Jaunty but it isn't perfect as I'm having problems with Tracker complaining the index is corrupt.
Now while I own a Blu-ray player I've not gone down the route of buying lots of films like I did with DVD. The reason is that Blu-ray films are mainly of the Craption genre so the more interesting films are still on DVD. The other problem is that Blu-ray highlights the flaws in the filming process and some disks aren't worth the bother.
@jonnyscavenger - I really doubt your favourite film on DVD looks better on your laptop than watching Planet Earth on Blu-ray on a 40" screen.
Is it still April the 1st? The Daily Mail a defender of our civil liberties ha ha
On a seriously note surely it is the job of government to help fund things that are in the public interest rather than force them on business/individuals expense. The point that Zen makes from their expertise as an ISP should be listened to as we have enough laws with holes in them as it is. And the government line of either you are for the filter or you are a paedophile doesn't wash.
Surely the point should be why should you have to watch adverts on Sky's own channels when you have already paid the subscription?
As for scrapping the license fee - no thanks. I'd just rather they didn't show all those crappy dancing programmes and have more of Planet Earth. And do people seriously think that the commercial stations don't bow down to pressures from the companies who pay for services. Can you imagine Panorama being influenced by the sponsors?
Sorry but I prefer Vista to the FOSS offerings I've tried. It isn't perfect but then neither are the FOSS offerings I've tried - pretty good but doesn't tick all the boxes for me.
The fact is that I have two machines running Vista and I haven't experienced any of the problems that frequently get reported around here. The main issue Vista had was drivers (or lack of) but then that also has affected FOSS, but both have improved.
Regarding the statement by the Senator there are probably good reasons not to upgrade to Vista on a mass scale. It does sound like he's calling Microsoft out though.
Still not as good as halogen although they are getting better. Hopefully by getting rid of the incandescents will force the manufacturers to up their game. Also at the moment we are paying the price for adopting the technology early.
Like others have pointed out, incandescents proved useful when my boiler stopped working.
You must have done something wrong with the configuration then if you couldn't transfer your ASP.NET project to another server. IIS was the weak link but it is getting better (although still behind Apache).
VBScript isn't the same as ASP.NET and most definitely was the poor relation to PHP. The .Net framework does have FTP functionality.
You are right about the quality of the code though. There are too many designers who think they are developers and leave all sort of security holes.
I think it's interesting the two drugs that are legal - alcohol and cigarettes, two drugs that do absolutely nothing for you at all - are legal, and the drugs that might open your mind up to realise how you're being f*cked every day of your life? Those drugs are against the law. Coincidence? See, I'm glad mushrooms are against the law, cos I took 'em one time, you know what happened to me? I laid in a field of green grass for four hours, going, 'My God, I love everything.' Yeah, now if that isn't a hazard to our countries...How are we gonna justify arms dealing if we know we're all one?
The problem is that we have so few compared with those on the trading floor. All we've done is shuffle money around since the 80's so that nobody knows the real value of what we own. Our governments know deep down that our economics system is built on lies but they won't say anything because they know our pack of cards is going to come crashing down.
This man has no idea how the internet works, and on that basis has no rights trying to make laws on things he doesn't understand. Please don't use the "won't somebody please think of the children" crap as it is up to the parents to look after them. If you don't want to let them see bad things then don't let them use the internet or at least supervise them like parents are supposed to do.
Anyway judging by the amount of parents that buy rated games for their underage children I'd argue that all this would do is add a bureaucratic layer and not achieve anything.
Can't see that happening myself. Why would consumers want to start shopping somewhere that has limited choice at higher prices than online? Unfortunately independents cannot compete with online sales. Thankfully there are independent distributors out there who have an online presence.
While MP3 and their ilk are fine for iPods and car stereos, as soon as you start playing it through quality equipment they you can hear the flaws (yes I encode to 320kbps). Until I hear something that surpassed my CD and Vinyl setups in terms of quality I won't be paying for music downloads.
What the music industry fails to understand (or perhaps they do too well) is that if you get rid of recordable media (CD, tape, MD etc) then you are effectively killing off grass roots music. Selling your own music via the web is out of reach of the average musician - why would they want to spend time creating and maintaining a website when they could be be practising.
Unless they are receiving above CD quality with no DRM then I cannot see why anybody in their right mind would swap CDs for the current digital formats available. I haven't spent money on decent audio equipment to be limited to where and how I can play my music. People who have bought streaming systems from Linn and Naim aren't going to be happy with what iTunes offers.
I don't know where all you freetards out there get the idea that all bands make money from touring. It might be true for the big bands (even Pink Floyd lost money on their tour for The Wall) but most small bands do not - the venue, PA, sound engineer and fuel costs all take money out of what they can get on the door and the £10 tshirts.
I think you are missing the point of Ubuntu. If you want something stripped down then obviously Slackware is going to be more your thing. But most people out there do want effects - you think OSX would have taken off if it didn't look pleasing to the eye?
Really what is the point in slating a distro when you are happier with another?
So you have first hand knowledge of prison if you believe it is cushy? Or did you read it in the Sun/Daily Mail?
Isn't prison supposed to be about punishment AND rehabilitation? By allowing prisoners to have contact with their families it helps cut reoffending.
And finally you should be in prison for your crimes against spelling :)
The main problem with the BBC is that it is following Sky and ITV by having reality TV rubbish. There should be more intellectual content rather than rubbish that appeals to the average Sun reader. Bring up the quality and I will gladly pay. At least that Fern Cotton has gone elsewhere with her vile tones.
So their own shitty browser standards have come back to haunt them. They do not get my sympathy because I've had to hack my websites in order for them to display in IE6.
Now the real problem with this tool that nobody here has addressed, do Microsoft really believe that people who haven't made their sites standards compliant are going to update their sites? Perhaps they haven't figured that these are legacy systems which nobody wants to touch.
Anybody lazy enough not to test their site in a number of browsers deserves to have their site broken by IE8.
What a great reasoned argument you mong. I work with Microsoft technology and in order to keep up to date I use Vista - plenty of things won't run on XP. Some things with Vista are better although there is too much bloat - the aero effects don't even come close to Compiz and require new hardware.
So you believe that Christianity came to the Britain in a peaceful manner? At least Islam is honest about it being spread by the sword. The history of Britain isn't exactly a peaceful one with the vikings, saxons, Romans and French taking over the country so it doesn't take a genius to work it out. You know full well that there aren't any sources since it was the monks who kept recorded history.
Just because two of the people who started the abolition of slavery were Christians it doesn't mean that it absolves responsibility from those Christians who profitted from slavery.
So where is your proof the earth was created in 6 days? The bible coveniently forgets to mention the dinosaurs which by anybody's standard is a big omission. We know that human beings have occupied this planet for a miniscule amount of time as the first lifeforms were single cell beings as earth was a pretty inhospitable place.
"You take God and Christianity out of the UK and the morals won't be far behind."
So that would be the same sort of Christian morals that help run the slave trade? By the way, Christianity was brought to this country by force and that included murdering the native pagans.
See I'm quite happy to let you have your religious beliefs if you accept I can have mine, but as soon as you start ramming yours down my throat I'll ram my fist down yours. Do you really believe the earth was created in six days?
