Re: "the communications equivalent of the change the jet engine made over steam".

That's exactly what I thought when I read that statement too. Have an upvote sir!

Re: @ Nick Ryan

But wouldn't a vegetarian be able to eat this stuff, given that it is synthesized meat rather than a dead animal?

wibble001

not just FireFox, it does that in Chrome too.

"It's unclear why the person who uploaded the list waited so long to spill the goodies after the original breach" - Really slow upload rate?

Joke

Haha, stupid aliens, ya missed!

Paris Hilton

Speaking of non-IT related shite on El Reg....

.....when was the last time we had a legitimate Paris Hilton related story!!!

<-- Obvious

All these Blackberrys were a complete waste of money.

Your sincereley,

Thumb Down

Interestingly.....

......their new HQ looks to use an awful lot of steel/glass/concrete.

As the old adage goes.....

Good luck SpaceX / NASA

Really hope they manage to pull this docking off.

Re: Not just the ancient world

Worse still, imagine what the world would be like if the Romans had invented patenting!

wibble001

Ashton Kutcher?

Nice of them to let us know it's going to be crap before the cameras even start rolling.

Facepalm

"Cookies are small text files that record internet users' online activity and store the information on a user's computer"

Thanks for that El Reg! Even though this is a techie site - and the majority of readers will be techies - i'm glad you took the time to clarify that for us; I was just about to drop a bag of choc-chips in the bin in case they were tracking my activity!

wibble001

"masterminding the recent $1bn acquisition of Instagram"

Having the word "mastermind" in that sentence just seems wrong.

wibble001

"Am I the only person who finds Ferrell not as funny as everyone says he is?" - No, you're not.

But back to the article; is it just me or does that thing look like a 6-legged sparrow with antennae?

Unhappy

I'll never forget the horrible little popping noise a ZX makes when you accidentally plug the 21V power pack from a Spectrum 2 into its 9V thing-u-ma-jig

wibble001

There was no metion of money, but I'd guess Microsoft priced it too low; if they'd told Zuck he could have it for $50 Billion he'd have snapped it up.

Re: sigh

I'm sure that the mixed race Obamas white mother is thrilled to know that her entire existence has been deemed irrelevant.

wibble001

hey!! I'm from Hull and i totally disag.......... actually, never mind.

wibble001

I'm sure the mindless drosses would be perfectly happy with capital punishment if it was in some sort of X-Factor/The Voice/Strictly/any other crap vote show, where the crim with the fewest votes got it in the neck.

wibble001

Erm....

should an adivosry board not be made up of "impartial" technology experts rather than corporates with a vested commercial interest? Or, if they have to be corporates, how about some from, oh i don't know, maybe some British owned companies.

wibble001

But...

...if the cube emits a sound, but nobody can hear it, does the cube still emit a sound?

Re: Stealth Bonk

Or, as was suggested for Oyster cards, take the chip and put it on the end of a magic wand Harry Potter stylie.

wibble001

All I want.....

is a decent TV signal, i.e. on that doesn't keep sticking big blue "No Signal" messages across the screen in the middle of the few things that are actually worth watching.

wibble001
Meh

Not suprised....

Not suprised nobody has bid on it, he's taken the cover off; that's the warranty voided right there!

wibble001

Thank $deity he didn't have.....

"Push the Button" by the Sugarbabes on there!

Alert
One thing is confusing me slightly; Kinect for XBox needs you to be about 6-foot away from the unit, which is fair enough for a console attached to a TV in the lounge. But how does that work for a PC when it is often going to be on a desk about 2-foot away from the user?
wibble001

Flash aaaahhhhhaaaaa!

It was all the adverts on UK TV flouting Flash support as its main selling point that put me off.

Pirate

I remeber a while ago looking at the revamped version on XBox Live, which allowed you to switch back to the original version.

Stilll remains one of the best games (possibly series?) of all time.

wibble001

Middle-aged?

Can we please tell us what the approved age range is to be considered "middle-aged"? 66 seems a bit outside the boundaries to me.

wibble001

So Google, when exactly will we be getting Profile support for Google Apps domains?

wibble001

Unfortunately you need to bear in mind that the majority of Facebooks users are not "tech savvy" and will have no idea what information it is sharing/collecting, and i suspect most of them won't even care.

wibble001

A title is required

Playing a "platform game" on a PSP whilst playing a "falling of a platform game" in the real world perhaps?
