Re: One small step for a kernel, but one giant leap for penguin-kind
* insert joke about kernel development no longer costing an ARM and a leg *
Burn the witch!
Re: And we....
First they came for children's TV channels,
but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a children's TV channel.
Then they came for film review meta-critics,
but I didn't speak out because I wasn't a film review meta-critic.
Re: Quality, quality, quality...
How many are spelling apps?
Irrational rules, hatred of women, sexual repression, strange rituals ...
... and that's just the football.
The days of the week are named after what the medievals believed were the planets, or so I believe. It is more obvious if you use French rather than English.
Monday - Lundi - Moon
Tuesday - Mardi - Mars (Tiw's planet)
Wednesday - Mercredi - Mercury (Woden's planet)
Thursday - Jeudi - Jupiter (Thor's planet)
Friday - Vendredi - Venus (Frige's planet)
Saturday - Samedi - Saturn
Sunday - Dimanche - Sun
Re: The Weetabix ad
'Skin head' Weetabix probably wasn't Weetabix marketing's finest hour...
Laggard user in upgrade price SHOCKAHH
“smooth at the atomic level”?
Like Steve Perry?
Re: British TV drama is NOT crap
Hustle? HUSTLE? HUSTLE?!? That was utter, utter, utter, utter shite. I mean, really? Hustle? HUSTLE? etc
I was momentarily confused as to what sort of punters they were referring to....
Right, that's it
I'm going to give up my cushy and well paid IT job and become a nuclear engineer. Who's with me?
That's v. impressive.
Re: How much???
AVF? Some sort of anti-psychotic drug?
Down with this sort of thing
Can we henceforth refer to El Reg contributors as regtards?
Indeed. I often pee in a bottle whilst sitting on the toilet.
In Soviet Russia, Martian moon probe you!
Looks like snake oil to me. Having played around a fair bit with the iPhone, I'd be very surprised if it was sensitive enough to detect movement on the bed (unless you thrash around like Linda Blair).
I personally use sleepyti.me (I have no affiliation with the site), which uses a very simple rule to determine when you should be setting your alarm/when you should be going to bed. And it's FREE.
I, for one, welcome our undiscovered alien overlords,
I know what I'll be doing tonight!
One line summary: You need to learn new skills. I'd like to read this guy's opinion on the religion of the pope and the activities of bears in woods.
Get's over it.
Presumably the SmartOS container is better at managing IO, resources, etc. Given that MySQL doesn't scale well over multiple CPUs, it doesn't sound that far-fetched.
+1 for the Aliens reference.
You can't put a price on ...
... being able to ponce around in coffee shops and 'working' on your MacBook Air.
== Only a minority – estimated at one in 10 users – of the 2.3 million purchasers of fake antivirus software during the two-year study ever complained. An even smaller percentage tried to initiate a chargeback ==
Presumably if banks began to profile chargeback activity, fraudsters could refund all chargebacks. Question is, do they stop being fraudsters at that point?
>> Let the whole company sweat for a few days.
Hmmm... If you have a relationship like that with people you work with, you might be better off working somewhere else!
Two words... CLOJURE !!!
Radiation is like a swan, perhaps?
Which begs the question, why can't MS bundle a decent CLI with Windows? The default CLI is an abomination compared to Linux/Unix/Mac.
I fly tip anything that's 'recyclable'. Let nature sort it out.
@Users: if you want to avoid mobile ads
Logical conclusion: go for WinMo7?
Open source? Presumably there's nothing stopping you porting it to a LAMP stack...
Go on, DOUBLE DARE YOU.
