Dear Microsoft...

While I don't presume toll m speak for others, with respect to my equipment, you can suck it. I'm not upgrading ANYTHING to Windows X. It sucks, it's horrid, it's not intuitive, it's noisy, it's clunky and its invasive. The only way I'd even remotely consider it is under the following conditions:

1) Implementation of the full Aero UI

2) Stop recording my shit, this includes mouse clicks, keyboard responses, search results, cookies, etc. Just stop!

3) Do NOT change anything to what you think is better than the way I have it configured. It may not be the most efficient way, but it works in a way that's predictable to me.

4) Do NOT assume that I want to participate in any cloud based or "as a service" offering. It's still my hardware and my data, you have to right to redirect it.

5) Revamp your entire support site! It sucks and I'm tired of having to dig to find some error code, only to get redirected to a page promoting windows 10.

Meet these 5 demands and I'll consider it. But I'll tell ya, the jackass who took the reins after Balmer has made my decision to ditch all things MS pretty easy.

On a side note: Tim Cook should really consider awarding Nadella salesman of the decade, for Apple...

They did the same damn thing with MSCE, Novell CNA/CNE's and Cisco CCNA/CCNE/CCIE's. If the educational system can make a buck pandering to someones dream of a life in computer science, they will all day long.

They crank out paper Certified (insert newest fad here) graduates every single day. And while a percentage might be able to do the job, the fact of the matter is, the majority prove only that they're capable of taking test well, rather than applying that knowledge in the real world.

I think it's rather hypocritical of Cook to stand there and proclaim a huge victory for privacy advocates, when Apple have pretty much bent over and grabbed their ankles for the government of China and god knows who else.

Furthermore, I find it absolutely laughable for Cook to stand there with a straight face and state he hated to be at odds with "Apple's government", or something to that effect. Apple is a multinational corporation that really doesn't report to just one government. Sure, it was founded in the US, but it has long sold its soul to SE Asia under the false pretense of "shareholder equity".

Finally, I want to make it crystal clear that I am pro privacy and find it pitiful that the FBI (et. al) feels compelled to take the easy route and go to the manufacturer, rather than figure it out for themselves. FFS, as many people who work for DARPA, the NSA, FBI, CIA, DHS, or any branch of the military, there has to be at least one or two people that might have the skills to at least give it a try. Or, they could just fecking outsource, like they have been doing for years.

I think this whole affair is pitiful and I don't know which is worse, Apple or the FBI!

Maybe I just don't get it

but with the inherent vulnerabilities of both droid & iOS, why would any security conscious individual actually want to use apple or google pay systems? While I'm sure I'll get flamed for asking such a preposterous question, it just seems like every single day there's just another hack that allows some one access to your phone. Obviously, there will be those who love it for the convenience but, after seeing daily disasters with online banking for individuals, can anything really good come from any of this?

Dear MS. Over the past 25+ years we've had lots of good and bad times together. With DOS, you helped me do things I never could have done without the aid of a large mini or small mainframe. You've helped me conquer worlds, destroy aliens and entertained me for months at a time. But alas, all good things come to an end. MS, it's not me, it's you. I've come to expect a certain level of stability on my machine and I'm also quite protective of my data, so I won't be needing access to your cloud, nor will I be in need updates being shoved down to my machines, whether I need them or not, nor will I shed a tear at all of the gigs, if not terabytes, of space I get back from deleting all of the original files the patches supposedly fixed.

Through the years you gave me access to some fairly decent tools for me to manage, operate, manipulate and compute data, in ways I not thought possible, but after Vista, Windows 8 and now 10, I've come to realize I don't need you telling me how to and where to keep my data nor do I feel the need to help you recover billions of lost revenue, by trying to make up for losses caused by your inability keep up with Google or facebook. It's bad enough you've completely gouged me over the years but for you to turn around and tell me I can have an OS for "free" but then turn around and whore me and my data out to advertisers? I have a problem with that. Call it an irreconcilable difference.

So, for now, we need to go our separate ways until you get your collective heads out of your asses and realize that it's not my data that's the commodity, your products are. So, so long, it's been real and shoot me an email when you get a CEO who isn't an asshole and actually listens to his customer base.

So let me undersand this correctly...

People are upset because they aren't getting a trinket after pledging money on an initial start up's? Um, that is one of the inherent risks of being a venture capitalist, no? From the comments I've read on KS, people are acting like the start up was a retail outlet for this product, instead of a fledgling venture. And if they didn't pick up on the fact that there is some personal risk involved then I can't say I have a whole lot of sympathy for them, because you really don't have to read between the lines, there.

The damn thing barely even water resistant at one BAR, so why in the name of hell, would anybody actually purchase a watch that you dare not get wet, for over 400 bucks? For the same money, you can buy a nice Citizens or Seiko watch that tells time continuously. What's more, they won't die if you jostle them around too much, nor implode if you sit in a hot tub.
