Re: here is what nobody likes about servers
I'm still right even if it isn't always true.
It's like saying AIDS doesn't always kill people, that may be the case, but the reason people don't like getting it is because most of the time it does.
here is what nobody likes about servers
5. already obsolete when you buy them
so yes if IBM Dell and HP need a kick up the backside then its about time. Frankly I should be able to get a dual Xeon server for the price of a meal in a good restaurant. One that runs cool and quiet enough to put under my TV with no fans so I don't have to clean out the dust. Why cant they just do that?
Re: Mr Orlowski's Facebook experience is obviously different from mine
They want you to think they don't know you but in fact the NSA and GCHQ do all the analytics using secret wartime algorithms while you get served up a bunch of unrelated garbage for every search term you can think of. If you could see how deep the rabbit hole really goes, you would stop using Facebook pretty quick. So of course they don't patch you into their backend. The tech that runs all their front end stuff is 15 years behind what they're already doing in secret.
im confused by the news
So microsoft and google will do this for the UK government but they wont pay any tax?
Re: Careful what you watch, careful what you eat
they want to make you eat it so your DNA can be damaged too
profit before genes
Re: Beep beep
Umm people have been getting fucked over on this planet for thousands of years.
It's only in the last 100 that we've developed the technology to grow a large population of many billions ripe for fucking, and the computer technology and social sciences needed to fuck them all quickly and efficiently.
can you manage saved passwords yet
If I want to delete a password in IE I have to delete them all. Rather than just having a list of sites with saved passwords than can be managed individually.
Now we know Microsoft spent billions of dollars making development tools to make this kind of stuff easy to do yet they still don't use it in their own products.
we live at a time when 2 working adults cant support a family that 2 generations ago would have been supported by one. parents are forced to send their kids to expensive nurseries where their children are abused. the kids grow up never having spent any time talking to their own parents.
but you can buy a new iPad so its ok for us to be treated like this by the powers that be. hand over your cash and forget about little johnny or jane being abused by the staff at the nursery where most of your wages are spent because society wont let you raise your own kid anymore. its the new world order baby.
how can we believe such an ugly structure is a show room and party venue?
I know what party boats look like.
sounds like good stuff
and if you need to build a new wall or paint a barn or something I'll pay £18m for that too
when it comes to civic engagement, activism...
in America? Not outside the free speech zones, buddy!
nobody wants to carry windows around with them
some day my home will be a shrine
im already writing my word into a holy book for you to obey later when i die
Re: glue and screw
after all, glue costs money and time to apply it. They could save that money by not bothering, but then they wouldn't be able to ding their customers for a whole new phone, would they?
Work ceases to be productive once its paid for
This patent business is nonsense. Why should a company earn a living from work they already did?
If we abolished patents, companies would be forced to compete with eachother, by constantly doing new work (driving the economy forwards). It's the patent system that's put the breaks on our faltering economy, because every year it grows by attrition and every year new business men face a tougher challenge before they even go into business.
I say, let the chips fall where they may, let companies rehash and reuse ideas, and see if that doesn't kick start your precious fucking economy. Because I'll tell you one thing that won't kick start it: another housing bubble.
well dysons are the best but they make you pay and they're by no means perfect. the hoses break instantly etc.
hopefully sammy will drive the prices down because I shouldnt need a mortgage to use the latest generation of vacuum technology. it should not be the case that only one company can implement something that amounts to a necessity.
Someone give Zaloom a medal.
As for Szemalikowski , which i will pronounce as smellowski, well he can fuck off.
Re: Deleting is cool
I imagine you could find two bugs that are innocuous individually but when combined could replace photos or something of that nature.
This won't affect me and if it does it will be in a good way so for once I'm genuinely happy to see MS put their foot in it. It must cost them pocket change to run the program and its the most effective money they could possibly spend on marketing since it keeps suckers believing in the product.
So why did they get rid of it? I think the same reason they got rid of second hand games on X Box.
It's a hostile takeover. All the terms and contracts have changed to hand ownership of your data to them and to store it on their servers with cooperation from the NSA. It's the end game. Now they don't even care if they piss you off, because you're just another terrorist in their database, and you aint worth shit.
I wonder if someone will have the balls to fix Microsoft
or are they so dependent on holding customers hostage that it will just be business as usual.
I know a whole company that operates as a forcing out room
I used to work there.
zuckerberg wants poor children connected
so they will get cyber bullied to death.
cos if it happens to white kids, zuck aint gunna let those other colours get away from it. he's all for equality.
steve jobs is gunna haunt the kids
now that he's dead he won't have any ethical problems with coming alive in ghost form to scar children psychologically.
Yes we scan
sounds pretty good, I think every script kiddie should have this.
electricity is bad
well maybe we should just turn it off then if its so bad?
Windows XP will essentially have a 'zero day' vulnerability forever.
and whose fault is that you joker.
can you spell planned obsolescence?
I flip styles the way you flip a flapjack
This just shows how silly the assumption that one IP address = one person or one website. It's patently not true and not even IPv6 will fix that.
we can stop politicians if we know where they live
yes we can
its not FUCKING big enough
where is my 8" screen phone dammit
Re: In other words
Why don't you ask Bilderberg what they're going to ban next? That was the important part of my post that you neatly ignored.
Did he make this announcement only a month after his secret Bilderberg meeting? my my. But no he wasn't plotting in there. No of course not. The Bilderbergers don't plot, and if you think they do, YOU are obscene and they will block you.
Does anyone really watch porn for the hot tips on crime strategies?
forgive me for laughing out loud at that one
Can Americans get any dumber? It appears not.
If you want to pass a law to take away their freedoms all you have to do is call it the PATRIOT act. How ironic.
Wouldn't happen here. There's plenty of goons trying to get the snooping laws in over here and they always fail. I think it's because the name is a lot shittier: IMP, no one here is dumb enough to vote for it. But in our country because we're free, if the government wants to do something and we're not voting, they'll just take away our right to vote, do it anyway, and promise that we can vote to remove the bad thing in the future (maybe). that's the British way of oppressing people.
you hit on a lot of the same points as me. its good to see you get thumbed up for using my points and i get thumbed down.
let him do it
why are you guys so attached to X?
It's really not good.
Justice American Style
Do you want fries with that?

HAD NEVER ACTUALLY WATCHED THEM

the scale and the speed and the scope of their lawbreaking makes [redacted] look like a traffic warden
The hardware is costly, now.
But in 2 years it will be commodity and Apple will sell it in a sexy case. I suppose 2 years is an eternity to wait for the gamer demographic so it probably won't affect sales. At least not among their core demographic. But this thing *is* a locked down PC with off the shelf parts: AMD probably will sell you the same chip (or better) through eBuyer in a year or two. Is it that long to wait?
The new Xbox, and the new playstation, really are the ugliest consoles to date. These things never looked "good" but now they really do look bad. They could have put SOME effort into the design and realised that these items go into peoples houses, but no, for your £400 you get the cheapest of cheap plastics. At least Apple would give you some aluminium for that price. Fucking hell.
i bet that cost them haha putting high end servers in the bin because of their own stupidity. its no wonder zuckerburg cant afford a suit
Re: persecution of autistic people is a big trend in IT now
And there we have the bigotry in plain English. People with autism must have chosen to be like that and [therefore] deserve to be at a disadvantage to the general population.
persecution of autistic people is a big trend in IT now
It used to be that IT was the one profession where autistic people could catch a break, but now they are slowly being weeded out, to be replaced with the more socially acceptable "normals", even if they do crappier work (and by any rational account they do), they have that all important quality of "not being slightly weird" which is all HR people give a shit about these days. highly talented people with high IQs are getting shit canned left right and center because of how ignorant our world is. think about that when the lights go out and you wonder "where are the smart people to help us now???"
check and see if he's got a bomb where his left testicle should be
pfft, even hitler was less neurotic, anxious, and paranoid, and more extroverted, conscientious, and open to new experiences than members of the "vanilla" general public.
3 apps at once
my next pc will probably be a 27" imac at least they still have a real user interface and application/task switching has always been better. imagine having any number of apps on the big screen from 1 to 50. thats what i'll be saving up for. not this windows shite.
