Here we go again

This drop in activity is normal; everything ‘new’ will suffer this same fate. Think long term. At least as many people that use FB must be using one or more Google services, which if they have an account will mean they will be using G+, even if they don’t know it. As people learn how to use it and the great control it gives them, they will use it more and more.

If this was Facebook, then sure you would have had a point. Why should anyone (including the founders) have to make anything public they don't want to?

People simply don't like change.

I'm sure people had general similar negative feeling about plastic when it first arrived. It will take time, but it will improve and just like plastic consumers will accept it in the long run. But off course there will always be those with their tin hats and money under the mattress :-)

Strange comparison. The Reg seems to think that somehow Google copying the image background feature from Bing is the same as Bing stealing Google’s search results. MMM now let’s think about that; Would the Reg mind if someone copied their articles and published it as their own,?

This is such a non, story. Google hardly banned the codec, it only dropped official support for the codec, and more specifically in relation to the video tag in HTML5.

Microsoft is really clutching at straws now to try and take attention away from the fact that they have been caught copying Google search results. Look here everybody, nothing to see over there!

Archive, archive and archive.

Most people seem to miss the point of Gmail. The idea is to keep your inbox empty. Soon as you’ve dealt with a message simply archive it. After that use the powerful and fast search to find any email.

There’s not much point in having a Gmail account and keeping everything in your inbox.

Only reason I keep my Hotmail account is because some people still insist on using that to contact me. Everything is forwarded to my Gmail account.

Because I choose to forward all my Hotmail to my Gmail account, I get the stupid permanent yellow alert bar right across the top of my Hotmail that says "! Your mail is being forwarded to another email address. To stop forwarding your mail, go to Options." mmm

This shows the difference in attitude between Microsoft and Google. Google would never be so precious about what you do with your mail.

As far as I know it’s very hard to get your email forwarded to another web-mail service like Gmail. I think the only reason I can do it is because I set it up back in the day when you could still get the paid for Hotmail. Don't’ think you can forward your Hotmail mail to a Gmail account in a new account today. Small things like this add up and quickly puts people off Microsoft.

By the time Microsoft gets a clue about the Internet, it will probably be too late. The thing they should copy from Google is not it’s products, but it’s attitude and openness.
