Orbit change without fuel

If the change to 50x4000 orbit will exhaust the fuel, how will the probe circularize its orbit at the end of its life?

Why can't you install Windows 10 Creators Update on your old Atom netbook? Because Intel stopped loving you

paulej72

Microsoft is already making security updates for Anniversary for Windows 10 2016 Long Term Servicing Branch. What they are doing is allowing these patches to be applied to the Clover Trail system as well.

What I don't understand is what is so different between Anniversary and Creators that the drivers for the chipset would not work correctly on both.

Who messed with the CSS. The font sizes seem to be too big especially on comments. I am using FF 52.0.1 on Win 7. IE 11 looked the same.

No it's enough for one CEO and two or three developers. No wonder nothing get fixed.

Doctor Who: Even the TARDIS key can't unpick the chronolock in Face the Raven

paulej72

Not dead

If you noticed one of the other characters said that the ravens victims always ran and wished that the did not. Clara did not run and I am guessing because of this the raven did not actually kill her.

Microsoft may join Mozilla and retire SHA-1 in 2016

Re: Bandwaggon

I have printers that use SHA1 for https to the web configuration interface. I had to download a old version of Pale Moon to access them since both Chrome and FF would not let me access them. And for some of them, I am sure there will be no upgrades to the firmware to support SHA2.

While SHA1 might be hackable, I would rather use it than to send my printer passwords over the net in plain text.

Ofcom: Ahem, about that 28GHz spectrum. Let's talk fees

paulej72

How much?

How much does Ofcom expect to make on the fees it is charging? The table only gives a price, but is that per mast, is it per month, per year, per 15 year? We need more info here.

Re: you have to be pretty scared of the boss,

As anyone familiar with big construction, as-built is not the same as as-planned. Getting the final as-built plans for a building from the contractor can be as a painstaking process as getting the building done in the first place. Now if these devices can do the as built plans that would be a great benefit to a contractor.

Microsoft patch batch pre-alerts now for paying customers ONLY

paulej72

I am glad.

I for one am glad they are doing this. Now the baddies can't see what vulnerabilities are being fixed and get a head start trying to find them. I know the reports were rather vague, but they did let the virus writers narrow their search window.

SpaceX 'Dragon V2' rocket podule can hover-land on Earth - or MARS

paulej72

What about storage

Looks like there is no storage for stuff the astronauts will need no their trip. Where is the space to store the flight suits, where is the food. Unless they plan on using a launch profile that allows for a quick dock to the ISS, they will need to eat and other things before docking.

Foxconn: Our hiring freeze has nothing to do with iPhone 5

Suicide Nets

With all the new suicide nets, maybe they do not need to hire new employees at such a great pace. Just recycle the jumpers instead of replacing.

YouTube app wrenched from next Apple iPhones, iPads

paulej72

No longer needed

Why would Apple want to support the YouTube app anymore. When iOS first came out Google did not have HTM5 working with YouTube so any iOS device needed a special app to be able to play the videos since Flash was not available. Now Apple is better off not redirecting YouTube anymore since it work and gives the users a better experience as they will not have to wait for another app to start before they can see the latest lolcat.

Unhappy

I am still wating for 6

I have a 9650 that is running 5 and I am still waiting for 6. Verizon or RIM have not made it available for my phone yet. I probably be at the end of my 2 years before I see any of the newer versions.

Lifetime Service

You all did get "Lifetime" subscriptions. You failed to notice that "Lifetime" meant the lifetime of the service which TiVo just killed.

I always figure "lifetime" means the the lifetime of the device which could be 5 minutes.

Microsoft finally says adios to Autorun

paulej72

U3 should still work

Paul 172

U3 autorun will still work as U3 sets part of the drive to look like a CD to the OS. The autorun is from this protected cd image if I remember correctly.

I would think that this could be used by a virus as well.

Apple preps CDMA-GSM 'World iPad'?

paulej72

Cheap parts

I think the reason we are seeing this is that it is getting easier to get radio modules that have both CDMA and GSM. If the part is the same size as older versions and cheap enough, why not have a iPad/iPhone that can do it all.
