As the saying goes..
...a nose heavy plane flies poorly, a tail heavy plane flies once.
.. I wonder when this will be available in hobbyking?
+1 on initial vulture analysis...
..if its a routing issue.. everything gets affected.
Re Java Builds...
IDE's already show you if you're missing some packages.. so why press that build key?
Overflowing with irony here and then some...
considering about a quarter of the 'feed' I see on my FB account are either ads or click baits!
The difference is in the face..

Job Good Translation eh?
..very sounding authentic!
..yep looked like that scene in the movie where upon hitting the accelerator, the car goes in reverse.. very funny looking.. but otherwise.. great job dudes!
Let me guess..
. the party's theme was "Enter the dragon".
I hope my plane with the new APM2.6 wont attempt the same this weekend!
Which begs the question..
we cant really be anonymous even with comments here right?
Thank you AWS!
Awsome.. we are an ISP and we've offloaded all but a couple of servers to AWS (and some with Linode).. these providers are the next evolution in IT... I for one think its now a full fledged revolution as it upends the status quo. AWS allows me to save on electricity, real estate (from a 30sqm data center to a couple of racks), server purchases, manpower and bandwidth. Allowing me to focus on the software side of our business instead of having to think and spend for hardware and stuff.
AS they say...
.. if it itches.. it will be scratched!
..if it was traveling at the same direction as earth.
..its doesnt have a blue background =)
Will Ferrell is the man..
.. he'll make a good leading man.. hiding by burying himself in the sand with cops and (possibly) K9? could be a very Will Ferrell classic.
...adopted by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for "us"?
..typo but very telling... I suppose "we" wont be sued by Larry et al a few years down the road eh?
So is PWC washing their hands on this?
.. multi million dollar contract to do the audit and this? awkward...
Good thing stalin is long dead otherwise..
.. heads will literally roll!
Windows 8 is Windows 7 without the windows
been using Win8 eval version for a week now, I like the splash and the clean look which I understand is for tablets really. But what I'm missing is the 'Windows' (ie tiled look), so Win8 is basically a windowless Windows.. unless you fall back to the PC mode which for all practical purposes is Win7.
So Windows 8 is really Win 7 + the tablet interface (and as I understand crippled API to the chagrin of developers).
Obviously this, now-its-a-table-now-its-a-pc OS is targeted for its new tablet+keyboard devices. I see where they are coming from, I just think the strategy is wrong.. I think they should have focused on improving the 'windows' philosophy and interface which can work in both PC and tablet modes and which is lacking in tablets instead of a totally different interface for both.
It's a stupid law...
... people will just happily use proxy servers. If you criticize, be ready for be sued!
Re: OMG They are talking to el'reg?
over at cnet.. its the perverse inverse.. 80% are accolades!
...they found out that the touted "best mobile map app" is a pile of lies...hence the job postings =)
The Real DEBACLE is THE MAPS!!!!
... Google engineers are laughing their asses off on this one.. I cant understand how Apple insists on putting out a quarter baked product.
Can't wait for google maps to become available again as an app.
.. better make sure rotten Apple hasnt patented this yet.
I agree with one of those interviewed..
.. my only motivation for trying it out was the email address. Since mine was taken, even my alias, then hummphh dont care.
It's too late..
.. seriously, how do you know that your router is not secretly monitoring you anyway? sure we can sniff packets within our network but the serial interface? the only way to do that is to grab packets going to the upstream but not from within the router itself.
I've learned my lesson.. from last year and the year before that..
.. still with AWS -- nothing compares really with the maturity of the offer and price so far -- but we dont have any illusions.. we've backed up all our critical files in another side of the planet. We'd still be down if the worse happened but at least we have another set of really remote backup. Google Compute will probably take another 2-3 years to be 'good enough' to be even considered.
Re: Plan "B"
.. or set up a naval blockade.. they've been flexing their naval muscles there lately.
Re: Interesting Background Reading
.. they're nuclear powered arent they? should be plenty of warmth for the electronics.
Re: "so we're pretty sure there's a few packets dropped along the way"
probably not... it might be too taxing on onboard pre-micro computers. I'd hazard a guess it's all fire and forget ala UDP.
.. include software bugs in ios 5.x.x rendering some iphone 4 and 4S with always mute..
.. had this bug on my iphone 4 for almost 2 years now, as soon as I upgraded to ios 5 and it turns out even those with 4S were also affected, there's thousands of iphones in this state judging from the threads in apple's (self-help) support pages.
and couldnt help but notice the new color scheme of El Reg nowadays.. dominant M$ blue.
Oracle Eyes are still sparkling...
.. with tears!
Mute problem still is a problem..
when I upgraded my iphone 4 to ios 5.1, my phone is always on mute when making calls (ie the other party cant hear me), putting it on speakphone or using a headset however works.. fast forward to 5.1.1 and still the same problem. What I noticed was the mute button (on the virtual keypad) always has the dashed line across it.. whether its highlighted or not. I'm not losing any sleep on this but it sure is irritating.
Re: barely meaningful
yep.. its a hollow victory, if you call it that.. oracle simply won on an assumption that SSO is copyrightable. I suppose we'll just have to wait for the judge to decide if it so (he promised he will if the jury thinks it is).
I think, like the EU courts ruled recently, he will say it's not copyrightable.
.. not to mention, the headaches of trying to understand the technical details of the case.
Well.. well.. well..
looks like M$ has engaged the services of Nick Fury himself..
This doesnt hold water (or air for that matter)
the way he goes up and down while airborne looks like one of those pre CGI flying effects movies.. and yes the wings does not look like its grabbing on to any air at all..
STILL! it would have been really cool if it were real.
AWS recently cut its prices..
.. and its not because of 'efficiencies' but to nudge Azure to DOA.
Bill and Steve B had an epiphany when they saw their first android phone.
... MS: we're happy we're using our software.
..many ccTLDs registries have the same issues.
part of the reason why I'm contemplating on moving to a Mac..
1) installed fedora 15 in my (then) 5ish year old compaq presario a year ago.
2) worked really well, but for the life of me I couldnt make the laptop print to a network printer.
3) hibernate simply sucks and results to a system crash that requires a reboot or worse fsck
4) I dont have the time nor patience anymore to 'tinker' around.. I just want something that works.. comes with age I suppose.
5) As a developer, I'm increasingly getting more inquiries for 'mobile' apps development.. well and good except that I need a Mac for iPhone/ipad development..
6) The only way I can run Netbeans (my preferred java IDE) +Eclipse (for Android) + Apple's XCode IDE is in a Mac.
7) MacOSX is still, afterall, Unix.. so yes I may want to do the occassional tinkering.
So there.. I've bared my soul...
