Re: All you need is Office?

Umm, Office is installed locally on your machine so you can use it offline - it's only the server stuff (Exchange, SharePoint. Lync) that's MS hosted.

Re: Django Unchained ... Original Screenplay Oscar

well it's a remake insofar that it shares a title with the Corbucci film but as with Inglorious Basterds, he took a title and everything in the film is completely original with no overlap at all - but don't let research or facts affect your opinion though or your intention to air it.

And Tarantino won a best original screenplay Oscar for Pulp fiction so should read he is now the owner of ANOTHER best screenplay Oscar.

Alien

I'm waiting for Lewis Price to weigh in...

and write a 3 page rant on the Reg about how much cheaper it will be to buy pre built US starfighters and our spaceports aren't compatible and it's already way over budget with incompetent civil servants ad nauseum

Still, any proper geeks here should be picking up X Wing miniatures game by fantasy flight games. For he kids of course.....

Tom Servo

And more importantly, John McClane used it in Die Hard 1.

No touchcreen in the lobby, Gruber would have got away clean.or something.

Tom Servo

You all need to see it because

Garland has already said this is "a day in the life" of Dredd, working within the budget limitations

He's also stated that if it makes $50m in the US it will justify the sequels, which will be Cursed Earth for pat 2, and then dark Judges for part 3.

now with all your pissing and moaning, who genuinely doesn't want to see Judge Death on film?

FWIW this film was very enjoyable - but you need to know the limitations going in so you don't expect Max Normal, Otto Sump et al on film.

Although why did Anderson not take the perp down in the lift knowing what she did about the lawgiver?

Genuinely sad - a big part of my youth.

Harry managed to find a perfect balance of vision, intelligence and humour in his books. You will be sadly missed.

Thanks Harry.

Golden Ticket....

golden ticket 1. n. In Roald Dahl's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", the magical token which allowed Charlie Bucket and his aged grandfather to visit Willy Wonka's fantastic confectionary works and thus

2. n. In a sexual relationship, permission to enter the wife's mysterious and exciting chocolate factory, though preferably without an elderly relative in tow.

WTF?

Yeah,the dumb copper's right...

All those people playing Monopoly last generation have grown up and F&cked the economy.

Oh wait, it only works to support your uninformed, kneejerk reactions?

Honestly, anyone who wants to be a policeman shouldn't be allowed to. Breed them genetically like Mega city judges.

Joke

Turtleneck? black?

Only one man for the job then - Sterling Archer. He invented the black turtleneck.

What a surprise

pound to dollar match on pricing. For an arsing cloud solution as well, no physical product or other excuse to bump up the UK price.

even with VAT considerations, any other reason for the price diffeential?

You HAVE to go to World of Spectrum website

http://worldofspectrum.org/

It's got a widget for vista/win 7 where it scrolls through random spectrum game screenshots, and on the site they have ROMs, scans of crash/C&VG mags.

The widget always gets a lot of interest when I'm doing some training etc as anyone over 35 recognises and loves it, and the looks on the 20 year old faces of utter confusion.

It's what the internet was invented for.

Also, and I can't find any mention of this, I'm sure I remember buying jet set willy on release and it had "if I was a Rich Man" as the music, but I assumed because of copyright they had to recode later versions back to Grieg - anyone? Bueller?

Personally,I could never and still can't get past the warehouse, everything up to it a breeze.

Tom Servo

Easy solution here

If all these geeks need proper closure, just set off virtual nukes everywhere in the game, have a popup come up saying "you're dead" and shut the servers down.

would love to see a kinect upgrade to REZ HD

on XBOX live - I reckon most of the CoE purchasers would snap REZ HD up if an update would integrate kinect as the contrlooer for it.

And while you're at it, bring out a boxing game with realistic historical fighters in for Kinect - the boxing on sports is fun, but would love to be smacking Marciano upside the head rather than cutesy avatars.

*BEEP* *BEEP*

But I've installed the bloody soundblaster 16 drivers, what's going on? where's my arsing sound? and wher's my arsing XGA resolution? sodding Windows 3.1.......

Pint

admirable MPs in Cambridge.

no matter what you may think of the leadership of the lib dems, this guy and his predessesor in (my patch) Cambridge David Howarth are willing to go against the grain on issues such as this with some pretty well informed comments.

David Howarth especially as shadow justice sec would routinely criticize the police for putting out false information and calling for criminal proceedings against them, rather than the usual 'our brave boys in blue are doing a bang up job and would never shoot innocents / twat unfortunate passers by with batons etc, and you should believe every word they say as an explanation'.

If only the current crop of shadow ministers would think about questioning the institution rather than just the ruling party for political points scoring.

see his grauniad columns such as this from 2 years ago

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/apr/08/g20-police-assault-ian-tomlinson-ipcc

A pint for politicians who actually understand the issues involved and want to enter a reasoned debate, no matter what party they are from.

Tom Servo

based on the anon comment of a PAF pilot

who himself said that RAF pilots aren't drilled in close combat, you're still concluding that the Typhoon is worse because of a generalisation you make that"kit usually lets our boys down" therefore your leap of faith is correct?

Hmmm.....

In the interests of reality

I'm only interested if you're allowed to shoot innocent foreign plumbers in the head several times on the tube, and then plan the disinformation media campaign over the next few days to obfuscate the blame.

Tom Servo

Looking good

but very few people I know bother playing campaign, they just jump straight into multiplayer, and it's that community experience that keeps people with COD.

BF3 may well be the better game, but you can garuantee going on to black ops tonight and joining a game with friends in, and that's what's great about COD.

Anyone who goes on about other FPS being better is missing the point somewhat.

Tom Servo

he'll have

Your symantec AV trial expired 435 days ago

Adobe Flash needs to update

Google/Yahoo/AJ toolbars obscuring half of his browser.

WTF?

Yes, but it's...

not Radio 7 or PLT, it's Radio 7 for all your neighbours or PLT for you.

Thanks for being such a selfish idiot.

Again?

This reminds me of the PorkBellies trading debacle of 1983 and the Blue Star Airlines insider trading scandal of 1987.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Capitalism just doesn't work.

THE STORY!!!

WORK ON THE F*&(ING SCREENPLAY!

stop pissing about with the technical stuff and realise that great films start with the screenplay.

This clown is a long way from the 80's Cameron who wrote/ directed Terminator, Aliens/Abyss - films with ideas.

Honestly, you and George Lucas should be ashamed.

Tom Servo

Careful Dave,

"PM David Cameron described the claim as "completely paranoid" and said the Iranians wouldn't be missed it they failed to show."

And outside of boats and bikes, the same could apply to us - Glass houses PM....

Re: And in other current news...

Ok, not weeks old but this was around last week, pigeon post would have been faster.

What isn't mentioned is this chump's "distinguished" filmograpy - Bruce has a nasty habit of choosing directors he can lord it over - see Len Wiseman's experiences on DH4.

When he's an actor for hire, you get Die Hard or Pulp Fiction.

When you're the star with director approval, you get striking distance, die hard 4 and pretty much every film he's made in the last 10 years.

Tom Servo

And in other current news...

Henry VIII to divorce - Pope said to be "nonplussed"

Breaking news please reg, this is weeks old.

Tom Servo

Not the Punisher Reg,

Start calling it the Lawgiver. Maybe it will catch on.

Tom Servo
WTF?

You Clown.

Really? Years of important research not backed up one jot? You absolute clown.

The IT manager of this institution should be brought to task as well - IT management isn't just about ensuring the hardware works.
