He died earlier in the day the last time, and absorbed the omega blood at that time of death, hence the reset to an earlier time relative to the original reset point, a day earlier....

Well that was my take on it anyway, what didn't make sense was the whole 'its dead' thing when the day had been reset...

Surely resetting the day brought the omega right back??

Unless for each reset the omega itself transports itself back through time and transfers the memories back to the alphas, its last dying act being to reset the day... maybe...

Space Commanders rebel as Elite:Dangerous kills offline mode

MrXavia

" This mode just has to connect to the galaxy servers for environment updates"

That is not the issue, the issue IS that you need to be connected to play, its not for environment updates its for anything such as ship purchases, cargo, upgrades, etc...

MrXavia

Re: Shame

"You can still play it single player and never meet another player EVER... it's called solo mode... you just need to be online for it"

Yeah but the issue is the universe still evolves when your not there, some people don't want that..

Re: Cue the mass demands for refunds.

Physical DRM free copy was one of the rewards, since always online = a form of DRM, I expect anyone who wants a kick starter refund should be able to get one, at least if they paid up for a physical copy like I did.

I will wait and see, they listened to the community on the 'rooms in space' micro jumping and introduced SC, they back stepped on some of the FA-Off changes, I expect they will end up listening to the customers and introducing something at some point for offline play....

Re: Watched last night on catch-up...

Completely agree, he was great as the Dr, in fact the whole cast was amazing this season, one of the best ever, but the writing was terrible! Like they wasted the budget on actors and forgot to hire scriptwriters so they hired a bunch of 6 year olds to write it...

MrXavia

The acting Acting is brilliant, the effects are great...

The Story? Terrible!

The writers for this entire season should be banned from ever going near Dr Who again...

Eye laser surgery campaigner burned by Facebook takedown

MrXavia

Re: Eye laser surgery is not for everyone.

Everyone is different, and its true you should have a doctor who would refuse your treatment if you were not suitable, I myself had laser eye surgery, I chose the company carefully and only after a recommendation from a friend (not optical express)

Sure its not for everyone, but I am very happy with my results, I know my eyes will still likely deteriorate, but this gives me many many years until I need glasses daily again (or another surgery of some kind)

I am crossing my fingers they will be able to grow new lenses/corneas by the time it gets too bad so I can get my eyes fully fixed (I dread the years where I'll need reading glasses because my lens hardens...)

I am glad I did not watch it at the cinema, I would have annoyed everyone by screaming at the screen!

One of the most glaring errors is you do NOT wear normal underwear under a space suit, where is the cooling garment? where is the Maximum Absorption Device (space nappy)?? I guess having her in underwear showed more skin than the cooling garment, and having her float naked would be a no no for American audiences....

MrXavia

Re: 3hrs in IMAX?

"£30 for two people to go to the pictures is becoming fairly standard unfortunately, "

My local cinema is a little independent single screen job but they have a digital projector, leather seats and only charge £7.

meaning I have more change than my local sticky multiplex to spend on a good draught beer (the cinema also has a fully licensed bar and even serves ales!!)

It may not be the iMax experience but I wish there were more cosy cinemas like this ran by people who love film! and its great for kids, get a sofa (yes they have leather sofas) and sit your young one beside you, they can cuddle up in scary bits!

ICO warns UK broadcasters over filming using drones

MrXavia
Facepalm

Why is this different from using a telephoto lens on a camera?

How can there really by any more privacy implications than any other form of filming by a camera crew?

Unless the drone is flown into places that you cant walk into, i.e. onto private land, then there are no new privacy implications vs a guy with a camera, drones are noisy, you will not miss one!

And i is not like they have any less right to film in public (although I believe they need a license to fly near the public?)

It is not like there is a difference to filming through a window with a drone or with a telephoto lens from another building...

So really its a non story just reminding broadcasters to follow the laws they have to anyway...

Are you a gun owner? Let us in OR ELSE, say Blighty's top cops

MrXavia

Re: Hmm

I thought the same? I assumed they had the power to knock on the door of a registered gun owner and ask to see the firearms and how they are stored?

Surely this is good sense, no?

I don't own firearms, but I love shooting, when my kids are older, I plan to purchase a nice variety of firearms, and I would expect the police to come and inspect my storage before I am granted my license AND on occasion afterwards....

I would even go so far to insist all gun owners pass a safety course...

BT claims almost-gigabit connections over COPPER WIRE

MrXavia

Re: Gigabit over copper?

yeah, but gigabit CAT5-E uses 4 UTP to give that speed, all four channels are used.

by comparison, your phone line has two wires... and its spliced in ways that would make ethernet cry...

but in all fairness I would run cat6 to the edge of my property for them to get higher speeds, but i'd be happy for 100Mbs each way, no idea why anyone needs gigabit internet connectivity at home...
