The multitude of e-readers ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_e-book_readers ) and their advancing hardware and programmability ( limited mainly by one fundamental but correctable flaw as far as I can see* btw ) will speed their market penetration such that the " scroll " project will be irrelevant. If the Ohio boffins are lucky, it may be a first step to somewhere else.

It interests me that the RSL, frequently a bastion of bombastic nationalism but not normally censorious towards " th' yarts ", should take sides on such a moribund issue. Is there a connection between one or more of the CTA folk and one or more of the RSL folk ? This does look like another case of who you know etc. ?** We can only hope that the T&Cs allow the injured party to sue and that everyone's perspective is restored to normality soon.

Had a series of calls here from an obviously sub-continental but articulate lady claiming to be from the MS securitycentre. As I'm in the phone book, being addressed by name was no surprise. She claimed that " they " had been receiving many error messages from my computer ( not so ) and having recently visited and admired the work of the scam busters I did my best to delay/harass/frustrate. It took her 3 calls and ~30 phone-minutes to get me to open a CMD window then type in ASSOC. Then the BS started, focusing on the .ZFSendToTarget=CLSID.... line. Strung out some more ( acting the doddering old fool some think me to be ) to be eventually passed on to a " supervisor " with whom I lasted another 15 minutes. They wanted AU$110 for whatever it was they were selling and didn't get it from me.
I can only hope that while I buggered them about, other not-so-savvy folk were spared their malicious attentions. Least one can do.

Strangely, something along these lines but a little more tech-y happened to me a little while back. Looking at my grocery receipt a red capsicum had cost AU$7.00. Management were most thankful, as Weights and Measures are dynamite here in the antipodes.

The real reason for the ubiquity of M$ OS has
been its rapidish improvement of installation processes for the
widest range of hardware possible. The rest of Wownids, if
tightly configured, needeth not to sucks too much.
Whilst Macs can be modified, the standard hardware set
allows a streamlined and very functional OS. This has always
been Mac's advantage, apart from lack of attention
from the mass-malware-monkeys due to small market share.
Mr Jobs has every right to open, operate and regulate his store.
As I RTfA the store will sell, or give away, software for Macs,
and will be as accountable as their EULA is challengeable.
OS lockout of non-approved software ? We should be thankful M$
have an even bigger problem.

What's really interesting here is the way the sensors/software/
actuators facilitate relatively smooth walking, running and even jumps.
Any civilian model of this model will, however, probably be embedded
in a walking frame or trolley.
