Re: Computing smarts in the cloud
Truth. The corporations want to turn our PCs into nothing but fancy terminals.
We're halfway there now.

...their websites were not inexorable shite.
Been making some corporate purchases recently and my experience with all the major name brands is an utter nightmare. All of the their websites seem to be designed by some marketing wankers fresh from college community using the hundred moneys on typewriters method and customer support, both chat and phone, designed to obstruct and hinder and nobody, but nobody goes off script.
Yeah, that will help sales every time. Not.
... that people who say corporations are sending us their best products are naive... at best.
Who say that corporations would never deliberately buy and retire superior technologies, are also naive... at best.
Who also say, markets are purely demand driven so corporations MUST sell better products to stay competitive, are naive at best.
See a trend here? And this is just example... 546,234 of our fine and lovely capitalist consumer world.
Stop and think a minute about what happens to every company that gets bought.
Specially, what happens to the employees?
Yeah, that.
Now think about what happens to customer service. Yeah, that too.
I have yet to encounter a company that was ever improved by being bought out.
HA! 10 days would be generous.
If anything, the OP is understating the problem. Vastly understating.
And your 90% is upside down. Just spend some more time reading the comments on the daily.
Or did I fail to detect far too subtle sarcasm? So hard to tell these days.
Yes you are.
That's a bit of overkill. But whatever floats your boat. Far too many people do not have the time to reload and re-customize their PCs, even from a full back-up and it's really quite unnecessary these days.
I do a full back up once a week but I would rather not ever have to use it.
