Behold, the insides of Samsung's Galaxy Fold: The phone that tears down all on its own

Re: iFixit have taken down their teardown at Samsung's request

So, the iFixit report on the Galaxy Fold has been taken down?

Someone needs to tell Samsung that you can't push this stuff down the memory-hole anymore - there's this new thing called "the internet"...

Samsung can ask the Internet Archive to pull it's copy too, but by now I'm sure others have mirrored the teardown... I know I have ;-)

Form factor

I've got a Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and I've played with the inbuilt desktop function using a USB Type-C dock - while the basic functionality is adequate for simple use (email, calendar, web browsing, light document editing), it suffers from similar limitations as Dex, mainly apps that think they're still on a mobile phone. The big advantage compared to Dex is that the USB Type-C dock is much smaller to carry.

But frankly, if I'm going to have to carry a bluetooth keyboard, HDMI cable, USB dock and mouse around to be able to do any productive work, it's just easier to just carry a tablet and keyboard instead. And to be truly mobile - anywhere - then you really can't beat a laptop.

Just my 2c :-)

RIP, Swype: Thanks for all the sor--speec--speedy texting

Well, a quick check of Google Play shows that Swype may be missing from “Apps”, but for me it is still available under “My apps”, so I *should* still be able to install it on my next device. And if all else fails, I guess I can side-load the APK – wow, haven’t done that since the beta! Very sad to see development stop, I still think it’s the best keyboard available. Pity they haven’t spun the keyboard out and sold it, but I guess there’s too much Dragon IP embedded in it…

Aye, it's a classic, innit?

Thumb Up

About bloody time!

Personally, I can't wait for this - having a bunch of uniform, slow, predictable cars on the road is a motorcyclist's wet dream! It's going to be an absolute hoot passing these things - although I'll have to take care not to prang the bike while laughing hysterically in my helmet :-)

Increased difficulty?

Actually, aiming a laser at the target is likely to be more difficult than using Air Pistols - I mean, the baby shark will wriggle like hell once you pull it out of the tank, surely?

A Flag, yes - but not Shetland...

It's a reverse-Finnish Flag - to symbolize the reverse-takeover of Microsoft by Nokia. Oh, those cunning, cunning Finns! Well, I for one welcome our new Finnish-Microsoft Overlords...

Well, of course not - that simply wouldn't be humerus... ;-)
