friend mentioned this a few weeks back. He was saying that the previous site had worked okay on his phone, but the new one they'd been telling him to use wouldn't work and yet was required in order for you to get your money.

fwiw, decades ago doing 'archives' for some product, we would have to print out the first 100 pages of code, then have that in the archive. The understanding was that this was what you needed in order to 'prove' the copyright..

Oh and , I'm with the DAB+ why are we bothering with stupid DAB tech camp.. People didn't need to get forced to watch colour tv, they didn't have to compromise with other issues ( except cost of new equipment), why do we have to have this issue with DAB?
I've tried rebroadcasting devices with my car radio, they're hopeless, so a DAB would effectively mean a new car, like that's going to happen.

why has this taken so long ?
the information that newsnight's story was spiked , was a story in at least january 2012.. This was noted in last nights Panorama and can be confirmed with a bit of google.
So it's pretty sad for other media outlets to complain about "why didn't the bbc do anything" when they also did nothing this year until the itv documentary came out, which mainly was the same interviews initially taken in the newsnight investigation.
Obviously a bit of beeb bashing is much more fun than investigating Savile.

the idea is to compare transistor count of z80 or 68000 . 6502 was 'riscy' in itself..
Bit confusing to make the claim that 'risc takes more instructions' by talking about loading and storing, when ARM has far more registers so doesn't need to be moving in and out of memory all the time.
In fact, looking at most code, ARM is often shorter than x86.

Time to fix Sky's "unlimited", it is limited, by the relatively lame connection speed and BT's "well , great, but even though you've supposedly upgraded the local box, you won't accept connections" network..

Got the new superhub as they upgraded me from 10mb to 30mb ( YAY!).
After ages talking to someone( about an hour after 20mins on hold), eventually have to decide wifi just doesn't "work", so after trying to put up with reboots and messing about with settings, flicked it to modem only and used my "old" belkin N router..
I'd initially assumed the connection wasn't working, but my connection was, it was just the wifi that was hopeless. ( hopeless on a laptop, on my pc with wifi adapter and on two phones that previously worked.)..
God knows why, but there were loads of 'reasons' on the forums. Like I want to be beta testing hardware at home.

No, it's the rank hypocrisy. Apple took all the best bits of other phones , then did their own. None of the bits in the first phones was unique, they'd all been done in other phones, but apple did them 'a bit better'.
A lot more expensive as well..
But to think anything in that first phone was innovative is bizarre. In fact it was way behind in a lot of areas.
FWIW, Apple have already admitted they also too other peoples phones to sort of technical issues. That's what ( as a coder involved with ui design) that Apple can patent " a colour", but just rip off technical patents and avoid frand.
What Samsung have done, which is worrying Apple, isn't to copy anything specific APART from finally paying some attention to detail, something Nokia should have done years ago.

gmail gets just too much spam.. my ISP one was forced to change address and it became 'web only' and not as good as hotmail interface... so yeah, hotmail it is..

Dear BT and Sky
instead of moaning at VM about their adverts and buffering. Perhaps you could spend some time sorting your networks out such that VM are no longer able to say "four times faster than average".
Recently got 30mb upgrade from 10mb on virgin media (free?). BT STILL say they can't do Infinity even though they have some cabinets in my area and claim the exchange is 'upgraded', so maximum predicted is about 10mb on 'upto20'. Which means, even on the 'slowed down' , its 50% faster than I might get if I signed up for BT/sky.
Oh yeah, that's probably why the just complain about the ads to the ASA..
Mind you, VM is right, sky anytime+ is now working a treat, no buffering like there was at 10mb :)

They then joined everything up and have licensed the virgin brand and branson himself.. Of course richard owns part of the new company and 'his' investment company also owns a lot.. But it's just a rented name.
Iirc from when the cabling issue has been raised locally, one problem is that the initial tv companys (which predate the opening of phones in some areas) initially had deals to allow them to cheaply cable, its now more expensive ( ie the council charges them more) , they also initially had local monopoly protection..

Yeah, really amazing.. So compare with my htc hero on 3 which just got 112ms , 4029down, 1628 up... (2nd was 118/4683/1504)..
So, not too impressed by that( I know its the networks),, mind you I wasn't going to bother with the "phone" version, just stick with the wifi...

No, they'll be getting commision on any they sign up.. They are unlikely to even be being paid min wage, they'll be "self employed".. Well that's what a lot are, the charities farm out the actual 'signing up' to different companies, probably to avoid the stigma of not paying people.
On the other hand, apparently the DD's do actually "work" in terms of getting cash in, so probably won't be stopping soon.
( friend has done similar, he was even out of pocket for the travel expenses, but hey, anything to keep the house :( )

well yes, when you plug the iphone into itunes for the first time, it has some warning about 'diagnostics and such' , so obviously you say 'nah'.
which is annoying, because those diagnostics appear to be the crash logs generated by apps... I'm guessing thats why whilst we have a few users complaining about crashing apps, we only have one uploaded crash report..
as for the android logging, has anyone shown it actually sending the info it logs , because it does just seem to be the adb logcat output..
tbh my recollection is
that windows had loads of 'workarounds' to get things like word perfect to work, because they'd accessed hidden features ( rightly or wrongly , its always a dangerous thing to do). then let all that lead they had disappear by being more bothered about running to the lawyers instead of fixing bugs or rewriting code.
I'm sort of confused by the 'encouraged to use' then 'pulled' stuff.. Did everyone else have the same problem? It just seems like the usual issues that happen on the roll out of a new os, why was it seemingly only word perfect that had problems?
In fact as someone has already said, the pre-release are in m$ best interest to get software working, otherwise why would people buy windows?

I don't get what the hassle is, the hassle should be if the apps on the devices aren't fit for purpose ( like the one mentioned where it requires a database connection at the time, that's obviously not fit for purpose)..
Seems like an interesting idea and even an iPad is a bit of a tiny splash compared to what it potentially COULD save...

Whats even more insane about this sort of US evangelism is that even the Catholic Church recognises the real age of the earth and real history. Not only that, but the idea of the creation being a story was agreed and recognised by xtian leaders in something like the 5th century, its not only fact, but it's also gospel.
