Sony pains pre-owned game punters with PSN Pass

Martin 76

Ouch...

I thought one of the reasons that pre-owned games kept a good price, was the fact that the game is the 'key' to playing it on-line. It's not as if Sony/Microsoft has a BIG problem with pirates (like the PC platform). Microsoft charge an annual fee for Live Gold (allowing you to play ALL games on-line vs others). Pricing this to individual games is not a good move IMO, especially as Sony fans have said on-line gaming is 'free' compared to the Xbox offering which makes it a better offering.

What what I've seen and heard of the on-line experiences of both the 360 and PS3, the 360 wins for gaming hands down, maybe Microsoft got it right with their annual fee for access to all of it....

Will be interested to see what people make of this move...

Shame they don't have a 2.5inch version available, snugger fit and all....

Police ordered to disclose ANPR camera sites

Catch the uninsured please

Why do they claim terrorism? If they just said "Look we use this to catch uninsured cars on the road, which costs us ALL loads of money", then I think the majority of the country would be backing them.

If their locations are known, uninsured drivers can easily look these up and then avoid these routes in and out of towns, etc.

When the police use "Terrorism" as an excuse I think most people are of the mind "Yeah whatever", but then again maybe they're being clever and saying terrorism so that the uninsured think they're safe.... On 2nd thoughts, probably not!

PS. Im all for ANPR cameras, preferably secret to catch the banned, uninsured, etc and if it helps track where a criminal escaped from a crime, sobeit!

The dlink aint too bad

Actually, my draytek couldn't cope with the 50mbit, so I stuck with the dlink and stuck dd-wrt on it. Everything is very very reliable on it, and never needs a reboot (only if I start messing with settings, etc, even this dd-wrt seems not to need reboot for most settings). So I'd say the dlink routers virgin supply are not too bad!

Steve Jobs unveils 30% subs model for ... everything

It would be OK if this WAS the case...

But unfortunately, apple have stated that you can't LINK to anotehr payment method (means the users have to go and find it themselves, OK fair enough)... Whats worse tho, is that the other payment method can't be less than the iTunes method.... So you can't buy it cheaper elsewhere, and the iTunes method will be easier, so it'll ALL be done by iTunes. Fine and simple for the user, but actually the content provider will have to up their prices on the other channels....

Intel demos MeeGo 'tablet user experience'

The title is required, and must contain letters and/or digits.

You serious?! The iPad is just the iTouch/iPhone interface with more icons on the home screen! That can be good or bad, I'm not putting an opinion here.

Whilst current droid tablets are using 2.x (or older in some cases), Honeycomb is now out, thats a totally different interface...

Im not stating an opinion which is better, just stating Apple just added more app icons to the home screen (and added some other features), google HAS changed the entire homepage experience with Honeycomb... So they are DIGGING at Apple not Google....

Samsung intros 10in Android tablet

USB?

No USB port, and yeah agree... Need Wifi only options please.! Prefer the 7inchers personally, for size wise, but the orig. tab is too expensive IMO! This yeah I think there will be loads more droid tabs on the market, and will see whats around later in the yeah!

Hack reveals passwords from locked iPhones and iPads

The title is required, and must contain letters and/or digits.

Bingbong, but surely this means that e-mail checking etc can't happen in the background and notify you, plus other services that require the password to be there...

Or are these done by session keys that are useful for a short time only?

Microsoft disputes Apple's 'App Store' trademark

Martin 76

Why not iStore?

Just wondering what they didn't do with the i prefix they do for all their other products? Why not iStore Hmmm... Anyways, think MS is right in this term, and hopefully the silly USPTO removes this 'trademark'.

Coder converts Kinect to air guitar

Martin 76

Get ur facts straight...

Actually microsoft are welcoming this use of the Kinnect. They say it's not hacked, and liking it: http://digitizor.com/2010/11/20/microsoft-says-yes-to-kinect-hacking/

MS bashing as usual hey? They initially didn't like it, but theres some cool things going on with it. Guided Quadrocopter, something very close to minority report, etc.

So Thomas 4 read up first.

More iPhone 4 angst: fanbois howl over head sensor

Martin 76

Ergh...

But it's not a first release is it?! It's the 4th one, they really should have sorted things by now. Even tho I am pretty much in the anti apple camp (due to the restrictions and higher network costs), I have two original iPhones, which I still think were the best build quality for all of them, and they both still work (albeit with a few colour issues with the screen now, and the battery is very much under performing). I use a desire now, as always wanted to use Android...
