Preferred the real thing
nothing replaces the real deal. This was useful to refresh my memory from a visit 9 yrs ago...That's about it.... yawn
Died a well deserved natural death in Australia
seems Kodiak has found another 'sucker' emmmm customer
good luck with that winner ;-S
so it's microwave back haul all the way?!?!?!?
Voda built such a scrimped retarded network it's little wonder he was chosen.
to make the NBN fail, it's fully clear now.
I was an apprentice in Telecom @ the time
Couldn't give these things away.
Turned up on the desk of the senior technical officers in my Subs depot, they didn't know what to do with them too.
the little data cassette thingy looked like a metal ribbon, the whole thing looked pretty space age at the time and it's unannounced appearance had everyone baffled. Further still no-one could make it work............
I heard essentially no-one bought them and they were junked.
totally baffling episode
Re: I use VI! ;-)
It's rather elementary Watson, I use Vi coz there ain't not pretty GUI DE on the machines I administer.
Don't get me wrong, I use a gui text editor when I choose to but the cli is so much easier and faster for a small change.
emacs just plain confuses me................
LCD suck for a bright room
Living in Aussie,, we have a problem that LCDs still can't overcome....... Huge amounts of light.... in a bright room an LCD is washed out to the point you need to close the curtains to see the damn thing.
That was the case with my first flatscreen a Pana 32" LCD. When we were in the market for a bigger TV, the only option for us was Plasma.
Looking at other Tvs and their EPGs helped make the descision easier, the only choice in the end was a Pana 50" Plasma.
Most people buy on price alone which spelt the death for plasma.
Vale Panasonic Plasma screens, Now I hope mine works for a lot of years to come.
NBN enters STASIS!!!
This guy will pour treacle over the NBN like he did to Telstra when he ran it, everything was slow and sticky, nothing ran smoothly. Staff hated him, he lhas no sense of vision or purpose.
This purely a political appointment like when he was appointed to Telstra..... that was by the conservatives too, he is a yes man.
I have no faith whatsoever for the NBN now.
If it get done, it was be DESPITE him NOT because of his vision.
you have to pay extra for 4G???
4G is a normal part of the network here in Aussie, you don't pay extra to access it.
No one uses Voda in Australia they are 'on the nose' here, their service stinks and the network sucks.
They keep losing >500,000 customer each 1/2 year, Poor network capacity and crap network outages have contributed to a proposed class action, look for vodafail on google.
I do feel sorry for you Brits as the networks there seem to be a very patchy quilt of supposed network coverage no matter who the operator is...
Ed's the man
Ed Husic comes from a Telecoms background, he was in the CEPU, I trust he will ensure Anthony is kept correctly informed and says factually correct things
lipstick on a pig
Like slapping lipstick on a pig. Pointless if there is no customers.
Re: W8... really?
Tried the Beta, tried to like it .... gave it to my son, he tried to like it
last 2 PC purchases were from DELL who sell Business laptops with default of Win7.
Will not even consider W8 on it's current form. It will have to be an upgrade of W7 appearance before we consider it.
and................. MINT looks better and better all the time , even has Aero type effects
actually it's driving the porcelain bus
Re: Dont dis Round the Twist
GREAT !!! thanks for the earworm, will be stuck in my head all day........ even in Vendor meetings today..............
Re: This is a good thing.
I can never see them getting back that goodwill...... Once they dumped supporting enthusiast electronics, hobbyists there was never any going back for those people, me included.
Jaycar is my fav store now, BUT my wife has to accompany me now, so I don't buy stuff I decided I needed but her logic says I never really needed................ hmmmmmm
Re: THIS is it
Did you drink some over saturated kool aid or get a head knock?
Still trying to work out if you are taking the piss.... Or truely believe what you wrote...
Seems to me YOU need to get your facts straight
No Sir, you need to get your facts straight...
Telstra 3G network operates on the 850MHz spectrum and the 4G network runs on 1800MHz. Optus use 900MHz.
When the Government provided funds for additional coverage because of the Estens enquiry, the access was provided for all carriers to use, strangely this was not taken up.
Soon when analogue TV is switched off the 700 MHz digital dividend will be open at auction to purchase.
big deal...... mehhhhh
This will be another fail for ch. 9.
They balls everything else up.
so that's what's happening........elementary my dear Watson
It has been a ghost town for sometime, this article confirms what Apple was denying..... Brisbane will get a store
seems it may be a while now,,,, mehhhh I dont use apple products anyway
is the data encrypted in the cloud???
I read a report the Ubuntu one data was not encrypted in a well sourced Linux magazine.
Is this correct ?
MMost TV shows are 1 hour. Or am I being cynical.....
RE: Say What?
Try having an AU credit and buy some stuff from the US...... I'm lucky I have US and Canadian friends so I bypass the artificial barriers. There is a roaring trade with US shipping handlers acting as a middle man for AU customers.
exaggerated .... think not, perhaps poor IT choices
i think if staff are given the choice of a laptop without all the toys, like large screen, keyboard, mouse and stand of course they will choose a desktop.
Our company provides all the extras to prevent health and safety issues and greater than 90% of staff choose laptops.
Of course we can and do work from home according to our schedule and our personal needs.
A toy tablet would not cut the mustard for so many reasons.
I won't be a BETA tester on this one ! !
Seen a release candidate and read heaps of reviews. I have converted the family from the darkside BUT this new interface is something else.....like something I stepped in .... |;-O>
Xubuntu; Lubuntu even Kubuntu (if pressed) will chosen before unity ! ! I'm even looking at Fedora if this rot continues.
As soon as pricing started firming up for Win7 I made the decision to change to a Linux based disto. 2 Years on..... I'm finally there.... M$ has done me a favour, I am no longer beholden to a company's lock in nor must I follow their upgrades schedule...
so for this story, it's a case of meh! 6 PC's in the house, upgrade costs $0, installs cost $0 uptime with no issues innumerable..
FAIL! - Seems like a faulty testing Method
Telstra do real world testing with their network
Here's the URLs
I'm that dog hahahaha!!!
It's always been said you could be a dog on the Internet and no-one would know.. well, I am that dog. In other words fake name, fake email, no real personal info at all.... suck that Zuckerberg....
Paris cos at least she lives in the real world, not La La land...
is that so....
well maybe from yr school it might look like that if you are actually out of it, sounds like a very narrow inexperienced view..... coz I work for a major AU company and we are forced to use IE6 cos the SAP HR interface and other vital info system only work in IE6.
i use Chrome for 80% of my job but have to still use IESHITE because our supplier and vendor management allowed this to happen..sadly we are a very microShite workshop on the desktop and i dont see that changing any tine soon
paris coz yr clueless
bollocks to him
on my facetwit page , I am mickey mouse living in the middle of Afganistan..... ohhh and by the way I'm actually a dog....woof .....never give out details golden rule #1, number 2 have a spam trap email address that is easily abandoned.....number 3 laff @ zuckerman.... what a twat!!!
