@toughluck: you need to be clearer!!
er, win10 is designed for using UEFI... If win 10 install/ whatever will not start, it may be corrupt... go back to the company and get them to fix it if you DID want win10..
if you want Win 7, check your chipset - if it is skylake or newer, then it needs drivers even for USB2! (the BIOS will read it, but after that it passes control to the chipset and fails..) put all your drivers on an optical disc, works for me..

many companies soon realized the big *financial* mistake that was, and enabled 'legacy bios' again...
And I am sure there are many pirates cranking out lots of 'legacy stuff' to fill the massive demand coming!!!
The problem is, 80% of people just want 'something to throw in the hifi for music' and and do not care a bleep bleep bleep about 'quality'... this is why CD and DVDs and of course USB etc are still being used... (of course many of these do not even know what USB means... )
the above do not want to spend money on the stuff, they would much rather save it for a decent fun car, or other proper luxuries...
and of course, there are those who think nothing of spending upward of £10,000 on a hifi system, and lovingly care for their vinyl to get the 'real sound'...

yes, and all the costas, pubs, clubs, even 'wifi in phone box' things... *hundreds* of them in a seemingly 'quiet' street'... It is difficult enough getting a good signal in an office, finding the stupid 'autofind' on the router has chosen the *busiest* channel!!

First, wifi & internet is NOT as 'easily readable' as the 'noise' produced by the average TV set... and the modern LCD tv even less...
If wifi was that easy to 'see' there would have been 'problems' *years* ago!! LOLOLOL...
various 'agencies' have enough problems finding the house that is using an IP address found, that they quite often find nothing, disturbing *innocent* people!!
I do think by 'dissimilar devices' he means Mobile / watch / kiosk etc...
The various types of PC (apple/ intel/ risc, etc ) are all *similar * devices...
Note also that Linux is usually JUST the Kernel, that has to be properly selected for the architecture and CPU... Only THEN is the rest (GUI, lots of other drivers ) added and call ubuntu, redhat etc.... :/
yes, this the major problem with an otherwise great OS... android is getting the 'windows disease' in a bad way...
They foist an unwitting buyer with tons of upgrades, that the poor person has no idea about... most likely scaring them to apple!! :O :O
Then the app devs ALSO do the same thing, oblivious to the fact that they are for an OS that is 2 years older than the one on the phone!!!

well I would ask what other programs are running in the background... use msconfig.exe to cut them down...
I hope you are not using the *Microsoft* browser... get something faster, 64bit version of chrome or palemoon...

yes, BUT what if websites NEED FLASH???? the BBC still needs it, but Apple must be paying them something so that it does not need flash??? YES, I once 'spoofed' Firefox the look like Ipad, and HTML5 worked!!! :) but then they changed it, does not work any more...

Use either chrome 64bit or PaleMoon 64 bit (this is built on firefox V24, and made for people who just want the INTERNET, and do not want silly features that devs and geeks want!!!)
If all you want is to show of how fast , new, , and flashy it is, you know where to go... :) :)

The admen have already made many enemies, how will they get people to *believe* they will NEVER go back to animated noisy ads???
The biggest problem is many use 'googleadservices' (yes, even theregister!!) to provide their ads - so you are stuck with one bad apple making the *whole* bunch bad... Its not 'theregister' that has done it, but 'dubious site' that got awful ads on its site...
Ha HA Ha... have you ever noticed a very good ad on tv, BUT cannot remember WHAT is was advertising????

If companies pay for static ads, that is the only way they get used - the website can pay for its stuff, but it is up to the reader, whether he does ANYTHING...

Simple. companies with LOTS of money and investments, *blindly* going with the 'industry standard' ..

webdevs have all their support, paid for by MGR, to do fancy looking pages with ADOBE..
Likewise clueless users... they can just about install windows, dont realise the default is 'administrator'...
Many dont know what things are , quite often it's NOT 'the blue thingy' due to it being modified by their ISP... :(
