Re: But what about fixing what's broken?
Apple. Listening. Fantastic ideas.
Are you talking about the same Apple Corp.?
"making Google Maps look oh-so last decade"
They've got ALOT of work to do to make the iPhone not look so oh-so-last-century, with its naff glass and steel (dodgy pre2000 kitchens look and feel)
No wonder they are developing iOS6. After all iOS5< was just rubbish. Apple do seem to have some good ideas but not many, and not many NEW (i.e. not someone else's regurgitated) ideas.
so......iPad owners are wankers then.
Go figure.
What a girly thing to say!
I dont think about men flashing. Suppose iDevice owners are somewhat different.
I know!
What a shame for them eh? Fancy being seen with last decades tech. Tisk.
A design that looks like a kitchen circa 2000 (glass and stainless steel), and a UI that looks as attractive as 80's wallpaper.
Still, I suppose they will get with the times, eventually. They'll wait for the next incarnation of the behind the times idevice or switch to their competitors. After all Winows Phone UI looks like it was designed in 2012 (never mind what the hardware looks like) or 'Droid (which looks like it was deisgned in 2009).
it won't be long before our TV is just another tool for rendering Angry Birds properly
The telly should be a screen and thats it. Nothing Else.
I want it to just display my content, from any source.
Facebook has a real name culture....
HAHAHAHA! Funny.
More like Facebook has a culture of shite holes posting shite!
been saying it for ages
the iPhone looks dated (glass and stainless steel, kitchens circa 2000) and the UI looks as stylish as 80's wallpaper. Just glad that more people will stop banging on about iPhone.
Got an iPhone? You'll be seen as being last century, never mind last year!
All those iPhone owners will want the next best thing (after all thats why they purchased one in the first place), good luck moving away from iTunes.
Oh, and Apple innovate? Get real!
HA HA HA, HA, HA HA HA
Deserves it.
"It's unclear whether the swiped laptop (brand unknown) was either backed up, encrypted or password protected"
How can she not know? WTF?
Re: Obviously!
W O W, sharp as a tack you, eh? Did, you read my comment below?
NO!
"BT has been forced to withdraw its plans to plonk 108 fibre optic cabling cabinets on the streets of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea."
The posh tarts don't deserve it.
Plow the money into the cities of real people. Let the posh tarts do with dial up!
Re: What about iPhone 5?
"What about iPhone 5?" - Who cares?
"This is disappointing. With all these so-called quality of life improvements, how can we keep the death rate at the factory high enough to put the soul of a chinese man into each phone to do all the math for the processor?"
Not even witty!
and 70% were greedy bastar*s
Perfect for sidejacking.
Most people don't know the first thing about security, so expect to hear some stories.
Hehehehe, sad but true.
"Some Facebookers said they were unable to access the website for up to two hours"....and nearly died!
The thought of not being able to proclaim, to those bothered enough to care about them about their sad pathetic small lives, caused heart palpitations.
1 Billion Tragic people, all with the same poor excuse “I only have it to keep in touch with family”
And most of them iPhone owners.
Re: The operating system formerly known as Windows.
W O W!
Moving to Mac without even experiencing win8.
I bet you have an iPhone too.
Yet another "considered" consumer, BAAAA.
Re: There's more than one way to a tiled desktop...
"According to this article"
Quoting from Wiki? Really?
Re: Much as I really hate to defend Metro.......
No one gets it. They are all lost in their "i" or "X" land (or penguin) and can't see the bigger picture!
Get your self a winphone and EXPERIENCE the 'tile.
Win8 seems to be such a HUGE shift for everyone, on one wants to even give it a try.
'They' are just trolling before even experiencing it. Way to go! Thats some "considered" shit.
Have they?
Are you a developer? Have you worked on it?
Re: Sigh. "All the popular phones" = no WP7
Re: Sigh. "All the popular phones" = no WP7
"Sigh. "All the popular phones" = no WP7
This is getting tedious, but it needs pointing out nevertheless. Ok microsoft apologists, over to you. Remember, if you're plum out of arguments you can always have a go at me personally."
What is tedious is when persons whom have never even tried winphone make unsubstantiated comments. To those I say you’re making yourselves look stupid. I have more respect for considered consumers, those who weigh the pros and cons and don't just jump on the bandwagon.
HAHAHAHA, like there's many considered consumers out there anymore!
Re: "world's biggest recycler of Bill Gates' best ideas"
Yeah!
Why not tho? After all, I want to read the truth. Not someone elses opinion.
I'd say that if your running in the metro environment, you'd being using the device for "tablet" applications (checking your mail, watching a video clip, quickly scanning web pages).
If you’re running "productivity" applications, you'd be doing so in the normal windows environment.
This dual personality seems to confuse. If can see the benefits clearly.
Metro isn't going to be used much on my desktop, where my aims are producing content/responding to content from others. I want to be able to view/produce content from multiple applications.
Metro would be used on my tablet where I’m going to be consuming others content, and not primarily producing content. I don’t really need to produce content whilst the primary function is to consume.
Re: Multi-tasking includes proof-reading?
No. He absolutely requires the ability to not pay attention to any one task.
Nice argument, shame the results speak for themselves.
"Jack of all trades" comes to mind.
Simple, dont run win8 metro!
Sorted.
Same ole Apple bullshite. Check
Stop wasting my time with the lies and spin!
Its shite. It will always be shite, and cooks a knob head.
Wow! What a big stink about nothing. Does it matter? NO.
Some bloke banging on about an pic he took nearly 10 years ago!
Get a life mate.
What ever happened to,
Innocent until proven guilty!
Your whole post leans toward him being guilty. We know nothing!
Re: But aren' t the 539 days of house arrest without being charged
Re-written:
Essentially his decision, not the legal systems? If he hadn't chosen to fight extradition, but got straight on the first plane to Sweden to answer questions, then he would be in Guantanamo Bay now being water boarded!
Re: If you are using Exchange...
So the majority of the top 100 companies have failed?
R i g h t!
W O W
Carrot and Stick
""the more difficult you make things, the more likely your users are to disregard security". Economic arguments should also be considered: fewer passwords to remember and reset equals fewer support calls."
Agreed.
BUT:even with SSO the issue of passwords and password security is still not resolevd!
As a consumer i just see voda/3/o2 holding back the next gen technology!
They claim that they can't start building the 4G netwworks, but they could.
Frequency allocation(s) can be dealt with at a later date.
Stop holding back the tech and get on with it. Voda/3/O2 must stop crying like little girls, man up and pull their finger out. They must also stop trying to use any exuse they can think of to halt the roll out.
You can refuse a smartmeter!
"only thing preventing us from switching off lights, or hanging the washing out on a line, is the lack of a Web 2.0 front-end to tell us how much juice we're burning."
Complete and utter British (Shite!)
If I need clean clothes, i put the washing machine on. I need extra light, I put the lights on.
An energy meter will not stop the need for clean clothes, lights, heating, entertainment, etc...
So the whole smart meter helps reduce enegery consumption is a complete huge steaming pile of British!
If you don't turn off/unplug unused appliances AND you don't relaise that there is a cost involved in leaving said items energised, you deserve to pay more for your electric. But to claim a smart meter is the answer, NA! No it is not.
"forbid the use of Wi-Fi: aircraft cabins and hospitals"
Hospitals?? Have you been into a hospital recently? WiFi is available in hospitals.
"...biding my time in purgatory right now"
No such place.
Re: Dog bites man with an Apple product - big time news
"Why do you have to mention Apple product, are these antennas are exclusively for iPhone?"
Yes iPhone did have to be mentioned.
"Ive was dubbed a knight for his services to design "
It certainly wasn't for the "80's wallpaper" UI. The design is now old hat. Hope the iphone (5?) improves on the last one. Horrid!
Considered responses to known fact please, don't just spit the dummy.
" the company still refuses to say exactly where those cell towers are"
But open signal maps will show you on a map.
It will show you which cell towers the handsets can "see" and which it has an active connection with. The cell tower your handset is connected to can be miles away from your location. We assume it will have an active connection to the nearest tower, but that is not always the case.
Great app, but make sure you have a full battery, your charger and a 13amp outlet nearby.
Re: Anyone in the private sector who bought into Facebook at IPO ...
"You can't expect people to make sensible decisions without access to all the information,"
But the majority of people do exactley that!
Re: a free market depends on the free availability of information
"I don't think those clever traders want a PERFECT market."
Clever means devious!
Pursuit of cash to the detriment of others makes you no better than a peado or rapist!
Greed beerstains traders are the cause of the financial meltdown we are all suffering from.
Immoral and legal. Well done.
Re: opine
"school just dumped their ancient eMacs for a cartload of MacBooks."
Hello Austerity (wave as you walk by)! And we wonder why there is a deficit.
Not just labour with the waste of public money then?
Re: "the Foxconn-rebrander"
"iBaiting at its finest.
Must be a slow day in El Reg Towers.."
But true!
"Susan Kare - who designed the user interface, icons and fonts for the original Macs in the 1980s"
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, iOS is as attractive as 80's wallpaper. And look! From the horses mouth!!
"it is only a matter of time before criminals target the operating system."
It will be so well deserved!
Re: @Obviously
See, one person can be wrong!!!!"""???? (That’s my adolescent mind at it again!!)
W O W, the stupidity is off the scale!
I think the world is full of AC's making HUGE assumptions which are completely wrong.
Grow up, indeed!
How are "people like me" holding back change?
Then to preach about my format shifting not being legal when you are doing the same thing. PLEASE. Learn.
