Re: What the staff wants and what the staff gets are two different things
At this point, how long will you be able to continue on Windows sticking around? Seriously, who needs it? Nothing that worked on the original iPad in 2007 is yet to quit working on iOS 6 unless the app was pulled from the store. Any business can easily deploy and control iPads, installing all software and configuring them automatically. If you don't know this, you might want to look into it before they unplug the last ancient relic 'Wintel' PC that many of us gave up on, permanently, a decade or two ago.
Most everything is web enabled now anyway, and it works anywhere outside of platform-locked, non-standard "Internet Explorer" browser. Microsoft's contributions to technology are overrated.
Copy, copy, copy…. LOL
Do they make copiers, too? Could be a growth area for shamstung...
Reg Fanbois are twisting in the wind of iPhone success
And to make matters worse for YOU, it's not even using your GB/European 4G standard. No wonder you are all so upset! LOL
It's all about the user experience, and iPhone brings the best. No question, every generation. And this one, like all others before it, will set new records and sell even more than any of the previous models. Android is FAILING BADLY. Win Phone v8 or whatever will do a face plant, no normal person on the planet will even CARE that it is out. The 'competition' as weak as it is, are but mere shadows of the iPhone. Copying after it like Windows copied Mac. Boldly copying, and pretending it's original WON'T CUT IT. No wonder the tech geeks hate Apple so.
You know Windows is next to fall. Win 8 will be a tragedy of Vista proportions. And they DESERVE it.
Your site is pathetic.
So you've never
used an iPhone 4. Big difference.
SJ, So, you know that order for 50 million high density 10" displays we put in last month? Cancel it, Toshiba can give us a better price anyhow, and Samsung can go pound sand, or try to sell these to 'competitors'. they should move all of them in what, 5-6 years?
Apple has the price point nailed.
Premium prices? Uh, look again. No one can compete with Apple on price. NOt on tablets, not even on laptops and desktops. iMac over any so-called 'competition' (than can only run windoze and linux.) What a joke!
iPad skunks the so-called "competition" (copy cats)
No, it's about far more than that. People are upgrading from iPod. Perhaps you have heard of it? LOL. And no-one, but the die hard techno geeks want anything with a "WINDOZE" badge on it. No longer, those days are OVER my friends.
You will see Apple go to 50% marketshare in the near future.
Even the Mac, though it was far better than WIndoze, was not ENOUGH better to overcome the lowly PC. I was a PC user for many years before going mac. The FACT that Mac had it all over the PC only afforded Apple the ability to SURVIVE when literally EVER OTHER competitor was driven completely out of business.
Keep telling yourself that, while we all use iCloud, beam to Apple TV, and integrate totally with all our other iDevices.
Remember your PC can't really run OS X Lion...
Specs are for techno-geeks
iPad has functionality and ecosystem that simply can't be matched.
Android isn't even really running native software. Ironically, this will be their downfall. Oracle is going to sue Goog out of existence.
Hey, it's the Anti-Apple Reg
They could care less about 'facts' that get in the way of the agenda, bring down Apple any way you can because they only know hopeless systems like WIndows and/or LInux.
Google can't do it
Google can't even manage to copy Apple's work. They have no developer environment. They are totally winging it. The developers are making virtually no money, apps are not selling well, and they are also having to use Java unlicensed. It doesn't fit the platform well at all. Apple, OTOH, has a beautiful, free developer environment that is also promoting Objective C quite well (and resulting in many new Mac apps). Oracle is about the sue Google over their unlawful use of Java, which Oracle owns. Java works on iOS too, but Apple is paying the license. Google is making no money, so they think they can pirate Java I guess. No commitment from Google on this supposed 'platform'. It's like the massive gerbil cages in their office--a diversion, that's about it.
Sounds like a lot of FUD--Any new PC stuff at CES? No? Tired of iPad yet?
This is the sort of position that WS would think was important. The haters have tired of repeating the normal mantra that Steve is sick, so now this. Whatever. In the old days, the mantra was that Apple was 'going out of business'. That one worked for a long time, not so good now though...
Get a grip, people. So what if he does leave? He's done a good job, but just like Steve Jobs, he can be replaced, Apple has an enormous lead (wether you like it or not) and a clear road ahead. Just keep making really well designed products that work great and most people (probably not the PC nerds here on this board) love.
You nailed it!
We all are pretty techy, or we wouldn't be here on el Reg. But the TRUTH is that technology is for making people's lives easier. It all depends on who the customer is though. For MSFT the customer has always been the geek, and they are all about the free scones.
But the average person? Sorry guys, but the've caught on now! This is why Mac sales have quintupled in the past 2 years, why iPhones are selling extremely well despite all the idiotic nerd objections that literally NO ONE cares about, and also why the iPod and iPad are so PHENOMENALLY popular.
Hate to break it to you! There is still time for you though, just get about learning Objective C. Then you can code for all the good devices. ;-)
Windows has security problems and can't protect itself, despite desperate, CPU-jogging attempts and much hoop jumping.
So bizarre that DLLs, the walking dead, zombie from the 80's, is causing problems.
And, sure, nobody wants QuickTime. Good one! Why then did Softy famously lift it's code and install it directly into Windoze Media?
Ha ha ha ha... It's ALWAYS been better, that's why M$ couldn't kill it!
"Not really superior"
Keep telling yourself that. And never try it, or you might change your mind. Just keep using Windoze, tell yourself it's 'good enough.' Very funny.
That's what killed it. Maybe if Goog had a real SDK instead, it could have worked. Roid just lost all it's apps.
He has learned the hard way
not to laugh at new Apple products.
See YouTube video on his laughing dismissal of the iPhone. Doh!
Stupid assumption in the first place--netbook will suffer, not Macs!
It's up, up, up from here, baby.
Smug or RIght?
People who are right a lot seem smug if you have made the wrong (cough, Windoze) choices in your life. Just saying...
Customers are not usually grey marketeers though.
Other than that, you might have a point.
Windows is a steaming pile
When will you beleagured, true believers finally realize you have lost? Maybe after Apple passes the evil monopolist thieves--next quarter?
In the US, status is ascribed to those making the most hay, this is a persistent difference. Once Apple gets past MSFT in revenue, it's over--that's the ONLY REASON anyone ever USED it tobegin with!
When, exactly has anyone ever said Windows was better than Mac? Never--it's only that it was "cheaper" and more "popular". Like a slut--and just as infected and gross.
Are becomming exponentially more delusional.
Those hideous slates faid because windows, all versions, is utter trash, and none of it's users or delelopers ever had an original thought.
Trash? We'll call it wastebasket, no wait, Recycle bin!!!
Only one button on that mouse thin (we so love to ridicule), I know, we'll put 2!! buttons on ours, such inovashun!!! (and it will jerk around and squeak like a toy)
Google DESPERATELY needs Apple, because they are smart enough to know they will never get Androif past the geek love stage. Find on man on the street that even knows what it is.
Except that it is supremely wintarded to think windows ever had any power. That pathetic trash only recently was patch to be capable of running more than 640kb of RAM.
Really powerful software ran on the Mac first, take for instance SPSS and SAS statistical packages.
Even Word ran on Mac first (not that it was ever any good, the thugs simply killed off all their competition). There were DOS versions of this stuff, but they were almost as pathetic as the early windows versions.
