Don't worry

Often in signage with those older displays we simply put the computer in a rack somewhere , use a vga to cat5 --> cat5 vga pair of extenders.

Can be anywhere within 100m .. Same applies to HDMI , for simple signage though the units are small enough so they're at the back of the tv mounted somewhere handy.

No need to tear apart a computer .. extenders are probably what went on here.

From the article .. they backed up on this and well .. it's good. Some things i don't object to is for example Firefox crash reporting. It does help. So for say audacity crashes and they have a reporting system for the crashes , fine. That might help the programmers. If something's wrong and they have bug reports automated with our consent ( ex send button ) all fine.

Same applies to functions. Ex plugins. What's the most popular plugin ? What is the most used functions ? If you got that as an opt in , what's the harm ?

For one i don't beleive that this pauses a threat at all to privacy. What's the problem ? I don't see any.

What i'd highly object to is my files getting copied to a remote server , names of the files , details that are of no importance whatsoever to develoopers.

There's some good and some bad in this. I don't object to participate in this fashion at all. If it helps make the software better .. im ok with it.

What i do object to is if data i'm working on is in any shape or form transmitted down the line.

That i don't want to see.

This always-on culture we're in is awful. How do we stop it? Oh, sorry, hold on – just had another notification

Re: Sorry but...

Might well be. I hope not. Time will tell but if there's a way i'd stay away from RHEL or anything that depends on it. Personal computers and mainframes have different needs . I can switch distros anytime on my desktops .. but on a mainframe , the implications are enormous. It's not a small matter. Can any fork be trusted to stay the course ? I'd say give it 5 years , then if it's stable, commit to it. But before that , i have a feeling the odds are against any of them being a good choice. Just a feeling.

Servers to deliver the apps are just part of the cash printing machine for Apple . it's like for Facebook to say " hey the service is free " when we know dang well that the website is there to collect data about users. The more is put in , the more money they make. So it's in their interest to give what looks like features and all to the user so they fill in more data and them extract more money.

Lacking evidence

Trouble is that it all started with Trump. Trump was a master liar with a degree in advanced disinformation and manipulation.

We know he's put his lackeys in key positions to push his ideas that he's right all along , knows better and " let's fix the papers to match the facts we want the people to hear through the news so they back us up " the man was a con artist. Everyone agrees.

Now .. question remains is is there REAL evidence Huawai is pushing stuff out the door that's intended for infiltration of other countries communications systems ?

That's the question noone can answer .. noone can show us the hard evidence.

Lacking that the only option is to check their stuff in a lab and study it.

Trump conned a lot of people, the whole Huawai affair ( including the arrest in Canada ) smells like just another of the trade wars he started with the world.

We all seen it .. The man was an idiot. I am far from sure that a large company like that would be idiotic enough to bug their systems when they know that the clients will audit them and check network traffic and make all the tests that need to be done.

The real war here is not about equipment being a threat .. the real war is disinformation so the telcos are forced to buy other company's shit at a premium.

Buy American taken to another level .. Buy equipment from companies i got shares of .. that's what it sounds like.

The whole thing smeels like shit to me. I don't trust American equipment or the internet in Canada / USA more than i'd trust the Chinese or Russia for that matter.

It's under tight surveillance and we know it. The last case of FBI spreading backdoored equipment is proof they are willing to do so.

So .. before i let anyone change my mind about the setup and con job ill need hard evidence.

I don't believe Huawai would be idiotic enough to do this. Doubts are just that .. doubts.

About time the governments either hand out the proofs , hard evidence , or shut the hell up.

Just another Trump con job and outright lies.

There are a lot of people out there who'd like to fire Jeff Bezos into space – but he's doing the honours himself

Time for a new open source no ad allowed browser ? I mean FF and chrome are now Google creatures and both will eventully totally surrender to advertisement and monetiation. it's unavoidable because commercial interests have taken over by fnancing Firefox heavily. They owe Google .. in fact accepting money from Google meant in the long run having to obey to their masters and do as they are told. Simple. Both browsers are to be avoided and a new project needs to come to life. FF was nice .. but time to move on and start coding something ground up that will be small light efficient and built to suit our needs , not the needs of the advertisers. We need data and access to information , not to be flooded with ads. There's a need to reclaim what's rightfully ours and our work to begin with.

We need to get out of the circle for it to end.
