Bad science is bad
They won't be making extra electricity to power the cars, the electricity is already available. Therefor, no extra emissions wil be created.

Currently being worked upon is the fact that there is a MASSIVE amount of energy that can be produced by power stations that isn't being used. Could the power grid cope with the extra charging? Easy answer is yes, as long as the cars used smart charging techniques and drew the power during low use periods. Sorry but the industry and acedmic sectors are already way ahead of you.
Also if they manage the base load fof the power stations using electric vehicle charging, they can smooth out the electricity production curves and make the power stations more efficient, there by helping to reduce the "dirty" production.
Your 8 hour charge time for the Tesla is also a bad assumption. You are assuming the battery will be completely drained before charging. If you top-up the car each night before bed, or while you are at work, or even while you are doing ANYTHING ELSE, you won't even notice the charging.
Fossil fuels are going to be replaced. No, i don't think battery electric vehicles are ready to take over yet, but they are nowhere near as bad as "some people" like to make out.
El Reg must have stolen it.
Fair play to the guy for posting an article on here. If he knows this place well, he has to know he is going to get torn to bits in the comments.
Regardless of political standings, I for one welcome our new blue coloured, toff overlords.
"Early adopters aren’t stupid. People who buy an iPad are not stupid. People who think the iPad is a waste of money are not stupid. Buying or not buying an iPad because of what people say is pretty stupid though. We’re all adults. If you can afford it and you want to buy one, get it."
The guy is usually an ass, but i've got to agree with him on this.
I still can't see a point to the iPad. The touchscreen looks nice, and as someone pointed out the powerpoint clone looks actually useful, but the big iPhone without a phone just seems kinda pointless. Maybe useful for graphic designers? Maybe useful for salesmen? Although a proper tablet pc would be better. Any other ideas, or is it just for people who like new shiny toys?
(Actually asking, not trying to start a flame war)
I did post something with three links in, guess moderators didn't like it.
Try this one

Look in the opearting system options. Pretty sure "SUSE LINUX" is a linux operating system. Can't be sure though.
Try harder.

Next idiotic comment? Pretty sure neither of these are netbooks, nor crippled. And hp offers several probooks with linux on them. It's not my fault if you are too stupid to use google, but maybe you shouldn't post comments on here before you learn?
And just in case you think these are home made versions, here's a page from hp's own site

So, i'll take an apology as soon as you can get your head out of your a$$
But i've just googled "linux laptop" in shopping and immeadiately found lenovo, acer, asus and HP laptops with linux pre-installed. Maybe if you look for a linux laptop, you will actually find a linux laptop. So there is real choice.
I'll type this slowly so you can keep up.
There.
Is.
Real.
Choice.
One of my customers is currently updating their old kit from xp to windows 7. They use some old programs (designed for windows 95) and so far i haven't had any problems. Most of the users like the "new shiny" look. I haven't had any complaints and all the software seems to work. I'm not using xp mode on any of the computers. I'm still in the testing phase so i will probably find something that doesn't work, but at the moment it looks good.
And before anyone starts saying i'm a M$ corporate shill, i think Ubuntu is great and the best workhorse server i have ever used ran AS/400. I think everything has it's place and i'm happy to give my smarter customers linux boxes.
...........but not Macs
Profiling does not just mean "he's brown, nick him". Profiling is a very useful method to pick out possible targets from a crowd of people. I'm sure you would be the first to complain if every single person was padded down before they got on to an aircraft.
If i was travelling alone on an aircraft, i would expect to be checked more thoroughly than a family. I'm not "brown", i don't have long hair and i don't wear a trenchcoat, but i would still be more likely to be picked out and searched.
Also, i love that brown is the new black.
Most people on here didn't mention racial profiling. In fact the most that was said was single men. I didn't realise single men were a race. He is right though, "profiling" is required in order to reduce the amount of people screened. No mention of race, just profiling. Get off the privacy bandwagon unless you have a point to make.
It's no wonder you posted anonymously.
There is NO research to show a strong link between game violence and real violence. Point me to one NON-GOVERNMENT research paper that points in that direction.
You may be right however, because everytime someone says something this rediculous i want to bash their heads in with a shovel.
