Gmail: a short, sharp rant

Daniel

Stop b*tching?

Come on... you're getting a free service for nothing. Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Google is first and foremost a business. As a business with limited resources, they have to prioritise what they do next, they can't do everything at once. Even if they automatically *DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT* when you reach the limit, it'll still have pretty much no impact on their bottom line, because the proportion of people getting there is so small.

So I would say you should be thankful they even took note of the issue (if they did).

Remember: Google don't owe you a damn thing - not even to give you the time of day. You're using a free service, that works astonishingly well and is more reliable than many paying ISP's for almost 100% of the time. Stop b*tching!!

Lol

Lol @ previous post... that would make this article more redundant than your average slashdot dupe post :-)

Don

That's a pretty silly viewpoint, Don. What google is trying to do is not to seduce the likes of you, who are not paying for their own copy of Office anyway.

This is targetted at the many, many people who don't want to shell out hundreds or thousands of dollars for an office suite. If they can get something inferior but acceptable for free online, they'll damn well use the online version. Even if they can only get it for very cheap.

Even if your product is better, it's never good to find yourself being undercut by someone *much* cheaper. A good alternative example of that would be Wikipedia vs Britannica.

This move is another nail in Microsoft Office's coffin. I wouldn't want to be in their place.

Greek cops to paintball rioting fans

What about the potential to blind people?

Paintballing ranges require you to wear face masks. There's a very good reason for that:

Paintballs move very fast. If they hit you in the eyes, they can easily take out your eyeballs and leave you blind for the rest of your life.

I presume the Greek police have not planned to distribute face masks for their targets. What will they do if they blind some people permanently while "maintaining the public order"?

Looks like someone hasn't thought things through over there...
