Don't know about anyone else but I would be very uncomfortable in having the underlying Host using the same OS or OS from the same Vendor as the VMs I'm running. It doesn't matter how good the separation of the Host OS and the Hypervisor layer is but its a potential headache I can do without.
My view, regardless of cost, it has to be VMWare.
Our G5 servers do get left switched off for quite some time while still plugged in. The problem I've put this down to is that the PSU seems to get very hot when the server is off. Obviously there is power still going to the motherboard for ILO, etc but as there is no PSU fan activity, there is no cooling. When you first power on the server, the PSU fans are then running overtime to cool itself down because of the heat buildup.
The G6 and G7 don't seem to have this problem anymore.
...have been doing this for years. Not really a new concept.
Also Sunguard....how much of a loss have you been making recently.
Never trust an American BC provider with UK data.
RE:For God's Sake
I hope to God that Dell don't buy NetApp as it will devalue a perfectly good NAS/SAN manufacturer.
RE:Like a bad eeepc 1215pn surely?
Doesn't the Asus EEE 1215pn have the Atom processor. Comparing the Atom to a Core2Duo is like comparing a Skoda to a Ferrari.
Got this phone
Had this phone for over a month now and the first thing I did was to switch off all of the Samsung UI that I could find as its SLOW and kills the battery (can't kill all of it unfortunately). Also, it looks like the current phones that are on sale are still using Windows Mobile 6.1 and any mention of an upgrade (as it is upgradeable) or even the phone itself on Samsung UK website is more or less non-existant.
Samsung PC software....don't bother.
W&L feature.....used it 4 times and then couldn't be bothered.
Phone needs its data and voice connection reset every few days and someimes even a reboot as some of the Samsung software facilities stop working correctly.
This is not an isolated thing either as in the office there are 6 of us with the same phone with the same problems.
Voice calls, camera, and the ability to install software without the need of going to a dedicated market place is definately a plus. Got SCUMMVM running on mine at the moment with Monkey Island 1,2,3 and Indiana Jones FOA running on it quite nicely.
Whats the point. The country has a lot of corrupt people starting from those in charge ending at those that actually do the work (or not do the work) that the money would never go where its supposed to anyway.
Yep. I've been there and I've seen it first hand.
This is only the second outage in the 5 years we have been with them. The last outage we have experienced was 3 years ago.
