Being pedantic....

(Which of course is the only way to be in such discussions!) the references to "12oz can" and "20oz bottle" are strictly correct, as they are the "standard" sizes. You wouldn't really prefer "354.882355 ml can" and "591.470591 ml bottle" surely??

tirk

Re Yanked from Android, iOS?

But you could only communicate with the small number of other WP7 users. The same argument could (and is) be used for iOS FaceTime, and there are many more iPhone users.

IMO it would be really dumb of MS to pull Skype from other platforms. Being largely platform neutral is it's major adjvantage.

Stolen, remote-wiped iPhones still get owner's iMessages

tirk
Facepalm

Remote wiping of a smartphone means removing all personal data from it, or restoring to factory status. I guess the problem here is that iMessages are delivered (like BBM) using Apple's infrastructure, which is still using something persistent like the IEMI to address the phone.

New claim: iPhone 5 was a goer until Jobs bottled it

tirk

I'm sure Apple are trialling all sorts of speculative hardware all the time, so I can well believe that this was one candidate for a future iPhone, and that aspects of this will appears, sooner or later. But I doubt there were ever serious plans to put out a 10 megapixel camera in a body too thin to hold reasonable optics - it just wouldn't be worth the cost, and "one-upmanship" specs are more Android then Apple, whatever you think of their relative merits.

Hydrogen is inherently less safe and more costly to store and transport. Hydrogen fires are largely invisible (it burns with and ultraviolet flame) and it storing it crogenically is rather more difficult than sticking petrol in a tank.

@Chad H.

We can be pretty sure that Pluto (or other significant bits of the Solar System) isn't made of antimatter because we would see the affect of meteors and the like hitting it, for one reason. Comet Shumaker-Levy 9 produced an impact of the order ot 6,000,000MT when it hit Jupiter in 1994, though pure kinteic energy. You needed a small telescope to see that. Had it been composed of antimatter, the energy released would have been somewhat larger, about 4x10^10MT, or about the same energy as the entire sun emits in 1 second. I doubt a telescope would be necessary to see that, or possibly even eyes! Smaller things must hit Pluto often enough for someone to have noticed.

I count 2 out of about 50 articles on the front page about the iPhone 5. There are also 2 about WebOS, and that's just gone! If you dislike *other people* being interested, carry on as you are, or preferably, seek help.

Poor old WebOS. Arguably the best mobile OS in some of the worst hardware, and with an owner that didn't understand the sector, it was never going to end well.

Still, perhaps after the surprise Google/Motorola wedding, HTC or one of the other second-class Android wives may just think about buying it.

The sample size, at 48, seems a bit small, especially when the team "noted that the phone users were generally younger and weighed less" which implies a skewed sample too. Given the lack of any credible mechanism for low energy RF from mobiles interacting with body tissue, I'm not worried yet.
