Re: Another case of bullshit from the military?
That last line got you +5 on your nerd cred from me.
People always seam to forget about "heat"... always
Manning had a permanet job... so no, not solved.
Re: Compression / healing
Dude, that only works on the same physical drive.
Re: Compression / healing
PNG would solve that...
Re: It's pretty obvious...
Your irony radar is broken. Fix it soon.
The whole article in the last paragraph
The core idea is in the last paragraph. Nothing more nothing less, just natural rebalance.
You silly boy...
Any artificial increase in price will almost automatically generate a black market that will totally blast your perceived benefits. Making it "obscure" by eliminating advertising will make it "cooler" for kids... you know because kids love things that are "banned". Tobacco consumption is going down in the west, not because of banning, but for the actual education of general population about the damage that it causes.
Education is the answer, not laws.
Re: @peter storm
I loved my Fiat Uno, and then i had a Fiat Palio and was also great. I now have a Renault Megane and i am more than satisfied (11 years old and no mayor repair job, just maintenance).
Beer cause there is no icon for wine which i prefer too.
AN vs A ... Correct use
My English is a little fuzzy right now, but shouldn't it be "A LED" instead of "AN LED" since its preceding a word starting in consonant and not vowel. This is the kind of error that should not be. EVER.
It creates an awfully dangerous precedent. If the court considers legal to ban this there is no way to evaluate what else could be banned in the future. Who the hell brought this to court in the first place?
DNA is Binary.
There are only 2 values in DNA...

The sad part is on the fact that you were able to introduce anything in there...

+10 points on your nerd credential for the Verne reference.

Whatever.. C RULES!!!
No reference to Flash Gordon???
Mongo is coming...
I am frozen on 10.10
mmm... Not quite
Uptime is not a good or bad indicator, and in the case of linux boxes updating does not need rebooting in 99.99% of the cases (i would say 100% but i am sure that some update somewhere someday may need it).
Those island were never under Argentinean control.
I am a skeptic... but not of that.
Ok , so Earth is getting warmer, now where in this study is the evidence that is a man made effect? ! thing is constant on climate, that it changes constantly. I remain skeptic...
@Robert E A Harvey
What do you mean you can not stop paying?
Stallman is crazy...
But for some reason i like him. i think we need a crazy bastard like him to counter the weight of the crazy bastards at the other side. DMR was in the middle, not because he compromised.. but because wasn't crazy.
Most stuff made with c don't even run on windows, or even have an interface for that matter. people seam to forget that almost everything with a chip also has some programming done and burned in a ROM somewhere, and C is the most common language to write that stuff. C is #2 on TIOBE but i wonder if a more specific count would be done on these small gadget if it would not jump to # 1 by a whole order of magnitude.
You don't need to bring sweet water from other continents, Jut create a salt water pipeline that uses solar energy to evaporate part of it. the pure water can be then collected and served to the local population. It is a complex and large system, but perfectly feasible with current tech, heck you could do it with 1700 tech, but clear plastic is better that glass, or so i think.
i know you are probably jocking but...
Gravity is indeed proportional to the mass of an object. The question is where are the "gravity waves" that cause stuff to be sticky at a distance. Nothing we know of can "disrupt" or alter the gravitational influence. Gravity is weird, is the only force that is only attractive. Tho i would not be surprised is the repulsive force that is supposed to be accelerating the expansion of the universe is gravity's unknown repulsive counterpart.
Anti-gravity... now that's a cool concept.
is there anything in the middle east that people DON'T fight for?
i think you didnt read...
The part about pipelines...
... not to mention those untouchable screens
I call BS in your definition of UPTIME
IF you are not talking about a single machine that has been up and running the same system sis 1983 then that date is irrelevant.
"Do the evolution Baby"
I am a Ubuntu user. I tried other linux distros but after a couple of days i was installing WIndowse back, because well... i was young and i wanted to play games, dual buttting was anoying. I wanted a system to do all. Nowadays games are way below my scale, and ubuntu has all the tools i need for my daily work so...
Anyway Windows and MS impact cant be denied, is a simple system that made computers easy for most people at a good price. Does it act as a predator devouring anything that puts itself in its way? Yes. But as any biologist will tell you predators are good for the prey (as a species of course, not the sucker who got served as dinner).
The sick, the old, the stupid and the "unfit" feed the beast and push evolution forward Mac barely survived until it brake away and created (literally) their own ecosystem. Linux is stronger than ever, fragmentation is not bad, is good, is the fucking core element of open systems. People don't use it more ether because they don't know it or don't need it (because the apps they use are not in Linux). I use Ubuntu cause i like it, and it works for me, other use Debian, Mint, freaking ratPoison, cause it is what is works for them.
If tomorrow Ubuntu fails to deliver (as 11.04 is hinting at, I am still on 10.10 thank you very much). I will go back to Windows or try other distro, Mac is out of the question, it simply not my stile... for now.
Exactly. Canonical embraces open in its true sense. Dogmatically enforcing a style (even your own) is not "open".
You fail at Internet... FOREVER
Do you know the last time i took the site extension into account? Never. Heck unless i am looking to buy something i don't even care about the language. The internet is about connection on a WORLD level, it should not matter if you are in USA, Italy, UK, Venezuela or freaking Somalia.
Where are the greens were it really matters?
Considering that there are campaigns everywhere to save energy by doing "small" things like unplugging the cell phone charger when not in use, how come no one is screaming like crazy for this?
The waste of energy in this wireless devices is obscene.
What i mean is: FU environmental charlatans ... u don't know jack.
Ahh a mexican. Como estas?

Well we get 95ºF everyday.. on averrage
I live in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Here the average is 35ºC (95ºF) EVERY FREAKING DAY. 30ºC is a "cool" day. From time to time we hit 40~45ºC, and then we complain that is hot... but nobody dies for it. Of curse everyone has an air conditioner (even poorer ones).
A beer so you can refresh yourselves.
The beer is on me.
Well, not exactly.
Not to defend MS, God's forbit, but as i read it, it seams to say that the configuration file itself was OK, problem was that somehow it got corrupted on transition, and the thingy responsible for taking care of such situations failed miserably too.
I buy a drink...
just cause i want to forget...
And there is more gold dissolved in the sea water than in fort Knox... is a matter of density, water has probably killed more people that all wars combined... lets ban that :D.
Nuclear power is a dead end just like oil, and incredibly scarce and messy to boot. Wind is unreliable. A Solar/hydrogen system is the best bet. Use solar energy to produce hydrogen and accumulate it then, use it as fuel. This eliminates the variability factor once stock of hydrogen have been filled. Plus we are not even close to the max amount of energy we can get for every cm2 of panel.
And so the circle is complete...

I plan to stay on 10.10...
Ubuntu 10.10 does everything i need right now. Only if i change my machine i would consider to change the OS. I usually lag behind 2 releases to make sure all mayor pains are already purged out and forums are filled with solutions to the minor tweaks.
You can always change Ubuntu, or any other distro of Linux to your liking. I don't care if synaptic is faced out of the main install, i will install it anyway. They can default anything they like as long as they don't PREVENT later customization. That is what makes Linux so superior to Mac or Windows (there are like dozens of reasons buts that's the one that fits this discussion :P)
It is much more likely that middle east is the actual source of inspiration. Not that the "reds" need anything external to trigger their media control zealousness. Remember that China is a country with 1 single party, everyone's else political views are filtered trough it or squashed.
Communism isn't nice with people... that's why they put the word up there in their name.
People's Republic of China... Orwell would be proud.
That is so cool...
letters... there you go now it contains it.
Just that, bastards...
Foul cowering snakes trying to hide their stinky poisonous tracks.
Industry change is inevitable, they r only delaying a ship that has already sailed.
Nuke them from orbit i say... only way to be sure.
and why the hell not?
Yep...LG whole lot better than Golden Star.... :p
Nothing goes here.
Do i detect sarcasm? Nah, brits dont even know what that means...
We are reaching the point...
when magazine will forfeit photos entirely and go back to hand drawn images.
He is probably thinking about it... And someone, somehow, in a not too far future will remake all six movies in all pure CGI 3D Glory... and all we be good.
