Re: "powerful, lethal ranged weapons is a vital part of what makes us human"
Er, no, that's what would make the archer fish an archer fish.
Unfortunate smelting accident
Is he actually Goldmember?
Well, OK an unfortunate blending accident at a smelting factory.

Apple TV does it for you, I was so impressed when I played music out of my stereo (via optical cable to amp) from my 3GS. And the sound quality at 384 kbit/s was great for my setup.
It was my boyhood introduction to the idea of some sort of post-apocalyptic hippie mayhem.
I'm still waiting for it to happen! ;)

"powerful, lethal ranged weapons is a vital part of what makes us human"
Maybe that's what made us human, what makes us human is compassion and empathy.
mis-typed texts
Spell 'checkers' do just as much damage, average user doesn't know they've added a badly spelled word to their dictionary, or how to remove it once it's been added. The spellchecker then thinks you like this 'new' word'. Mind you speech recognised typing on iPhone is quite impressive but not so good in public!
Wholehearted agreement! As a self-confessed carebear, PVP is a big deal for me (very rare though). A corp mate said it's not whether people panic in Eve, it's how quickly they get back into control. Agree about time spent getting resources that can then be destroyed in seconds. Indeed it is a rush!
Re: Multiplayer game based on Elite?
@ annodomini2
I play Eve for most on average 1 hour a day (some days none, some days lots), I get a lot out of it, I've had an account for 4 years and I can't say I have "got anywhere", for me it's escapism. There are so many facets to Eve to get boring, it's just a matter of exploring them. But then Eve is not meant to be a shoot-em-up, it's meant to be a role play. It's like anything you get used to though, there are lots of versions of first-person shoot-em-ups, civilisation builders, platform games. Anyway we're way off topic. :)
On a recent visit to John Lewis in Milton Keynes, their Apple section could not help with technical questions and they suggested I visit the Apple Store instead! Quite helpful in itself but not the best for business. Unless they think Apple stuff will sell eventually whatever.
Re: cost-effective buy
My Apple Store is so good that after I had carted it into Kingston Shopping Centre (it's in a *big* box), my apparently at-home-and-lifeless iMac magically started working again when they switched it on. Brilliant!
Re: Currently.. Casino Royale leads with Goldfinger following shortly behind..
I agree about the roulette, except for The Man With the Golden Gun which I thought was awful.
Bowls of petunias are nearing extinction as well. But they didn't ever make any noise so no-one has noticed.
Re: for an affordable 'Bond' car
Mainly because Saab's are horrible.
Can we have a much larger Union flag on the car please?!

The article did not specify the age of his 'girlfriend'!
Re: Article request for El Reg...
Just to say I also went with the £10.50 deal, it's inclusive of VAT as well. It's the data that's most important to me, 500 minutes a month is about 10 times my needs but they don't do a cheaper tariff with fewer minutes.
Re: option to lease ...
That's why I wait until I can get the 'latest' model for under £200 and SIM only contract. My 3GS is just fine!

Peanut M&M's for me!
I thought that was Chuck Norris!
Re: Universe = depressingly vast
I'll just let the light come to me, thanks.

Er, or German astronomer Karl Schwarzschild.
This is a bit harsh, I am sure a reminder of the policies would suffice. I suspect a hidden agenda.

cybersex provisions
cybersex provisions in the bill are designed to protect girls from being trafficked into being 'cam girls' against their will
How about having provisons against trafficking instead? Would my ISP go to prison if my girlfriend shows me 'consideration' over a webcam?
The sixth Google suggestion to the search 'What does an eel' gives: What does an eel do?
What sort of a question is that?
Re: Just for a laugh
When we were teenagers we used to dial '00' and then random numbers until we got through. Some childish hilarity would then ensue until our short attention spans expired! Without itemised bills, luckily for us parents never found out!
Re: At least France doesn't surrender it's own, unlike the UK
You forgot the Battle of Fishguard in 1797, you can use that to bolster your argument if you like.
I was told in management training that in any meeting there is one misunderstanding per person, per hour. The same principle applies in forums, which tend to misunderstand misunderstanding rather than simply adjust the misunderstanding itself.
Probably.
50km if they were printed out...
What is this '50km', can we have standard Reg units please?

Re: Open bonnet/hood

Re: "limited to "older" BMW models"
You can still use the metal part that's encased inside the fob to open the door / boot manually. This was advice given to us years ago in our Houston office about hire cars and people stealing shopping when you went back to dump it of before getting more, especially at Christmas.
I seem to recall Millenium Falcon was flown from the side 'olive' pod.

Would be interesting, but I suspect it's very quiet on Mars given the rarified atmosphere.
