Lessons from the Mini: Before revamping or rebooting anything, please read this

Paul Woodhouse

Re: It is just a car.

Horses for courses, we use ours usually for doing the little trips round town at the weekend and the wife uses it to get to work, 8 miles no m/way, its perfect for this... its genuinely fun to drive, is easy to park and is surprisingly practical, kiddie seat in the front passenger seat no problem and the pram fits in the boot no worries.

usually once a week she uses the modern estate when she's not at work and she's visiting her friends on the other side of the city and I take the mini to my office, 20 miles away, m/way all the way, it can do it with surprisingly little fuss but I have to admit, I don't think I'd enjoy it every day and there's no way I'd want my little lad in it going up the m/way.

Paul Woodhouse

I always laugh at the size difference when I park my 95 Mini next to a modern BINI, they really aren't mini's at all...

When Pornhub meets the Internet of Fridges

Paul Woodhouse

that is brilliant... I'm guessing the webpage is supposed to be some online retailers homepage/shopping page to order things to fill the fridge with and someone has managed to hack the fridge to point it elsewhere...

wonder if the hack was done from the internet or someone on the shops internal network.

hmm... can see it'd be REALLY easy to do if you had access to the DNS server the fridge is using, think this'll get hammered in as an IOT is crap security again though?

Re: Sage has been like this since forever...

@vinch...

Sage is doing its best to force all its customers to cloudy type things at the moment... bit of a mistake I think, they are way way way behind xero and about their only strong point is the fact stuff runs best locally... The new data services you have to install on any machine that might share sage data is horrific and pointless.

Paul Woodhouse

Re: Sage has been like this since forever...

lol, aye, still use Delphi tables as well IIRC... reet PITA for any form of migration...

Paul Woodhouse

Re: Sage has been like this since forever...

Give Xero a go...

Paul Woodhouse

hmm, I fixed this in a roundabout kinda way the other day, found the sage update service that wasn't starting, tried to run its .exe manually and the computer offered to update .net for me, let it do it and all was happy afterwards.

Don't knock volvo's toughness, I once had to climb a tree to get my numberplate back, apart from a couple of dents, and the missing no. plate the car was fine and drove for another year or so... also had some numpty run into the back of it in a saxo... no noticable damage on the volvo yet the saxo was totally mullered...
