Really good article
Really enjoyed that - very informative. Nice one.
610kb per map? Someone invented compression for a reason...
re: 610kb per map mentioned in the linked blog - doesn't that assume no compression? Just tried saving a screen shot of a 640x960 google map - 150kb as a png in 8bits. Compression for photos would be that much better.
Not booted out of uni
Surprised he wasn't booted out of Uni as soon as the conviction occurred - certainly would have been at mine.
Does rather seem he's got away with it - assuming his account in Costa Rica is nice and full...
Metric to imperial
I wonder if the resolution is actually 1ft. For that matter it looks like marketing have done a few 'conversions' on the linked website.... 1.24m aka 4ft and 3.7m aka 12ft.
Bit too close to the Renault Flatulence. Which is ironic given it's a zero emissions car...
Surely - "Do you have anything in your personal account we cannot access or check?"
"No"
"Ok then"
Cut the string at a predetermined point
Could you have the string to the ballon cut at a predetermined point (either timed, or by pressure - bladder expands an closes a pair of scissors or something!)? Then have a 5 second delay for the ballon to shoot off by itself, and then launch?
Obviously you'd need to shape / weight the payload so that it fell in a stable way? How about an inverted cone of card with a weight in the end?
Re: Were is this H2 coming from?
I believe it's the zirconium cladding of the fuel rods that is responsible for the hydrogen isn't it?
3 are even worse
The 3 porn filter doesn't just 'think of the children' it suggests a range of 3 provided smut that you may want to view instead. Idiots.
FYI 3 are not au faux with the concept of IP address and WWW address being equivlent - you can access B3Ta using it's IP 207.44.242.20 for example
Change in the contract - both parties have the option to end it then
Substantive changes in the contract mean that either party can choose to end it without consequence as far as I know. Hard to argue that the price paid for a service isn't a substantive change...
New keyboard required
Give that man a Pulitzer.
Certified Penetration Tester
Sounds like fun work, where do I sign up.... Paris because, well...
About to stall and has lost oil pressure.
The mock up is about to stall and has lost oil pressure - i'd land if I were him...
Almost.
Just miss out the first step of that post. Never bid until 15 seconds before the end...
Cut the crap not the news
Here's hoping they don't cut back the news bit of the beeb - it's one of the best things on the net. Get rid of the rest of the stuff on the beeb website tho - do TV programs really need mini sites?
49 quid > 50 euros
Surely some of the limits they've stuck on are already in breach of the regs? 49 quid for example is currently 59 euros...?
Get a clone
I've got a clone, it does a better job than the real thing. They're quite popular with mtbing folk, and it's always amusing to compare the footage I've got for 12 quid to the one that someone payed 80 quid for.... esp the older ones of the model reviewed, that actually only do 20fps...
They work well in good light (e.g. strapped to a snowboard boot), and badly in low light.
Properly retarded
Get rid of Radio 1, that provides proper commercial competition. Keep 6 Music, XFM is the only competition really, and that's s**t.
Does this include el reg?
So is el reg going to join the scheme?
On the subject of Stanza
Are there actually any outlets that let you buy books on Stanza? I tried a bunch of publishers and got through to the purchase stage only to be told that I was in the UK and thus unable to purchase...
Re: Errrmmmm
The point is that there is no such thing as a permit to film on public property. You can film where you want. The police invented it.
Screengrab?
Surely a screen grab would just be 1024x768 or whatever of black pixels? And how would they do the screengrab in the first place - it's crashed...
Distance Selling
Does this mean I can buy a tune on itunes and then return it within 7 days then?
Ouch
That's a pretty harsh study - presumably they were in effect lying to one half (or at least being economical with the truth)... surprised it got past an ethics panel in the way it's been presented here.
@Jason Togneri
I could be wrong, but I'd have thought that a hard vacum is a pretty useless coolant - you have to rely purely on radation rather than convection or conduction. Isn't that why space craft have such massive cooling problems...
