Google charges feds $25 a head for user surveillance

WTF?

Translations WTF

They spend $60m/yr on translation!!!!

At a generous (for translation) $40k/yr that is 1,500 full-time translators! Maybe they have to pay to access Google Translate as well? Or put it another way, that would be enough cash to language train about 8,000 staffers so they don't need translation.

Web wags stage IE 6 funeral

FAIL

rumours of demise greatly exaggerated

It is not just corporate IT departments, people with old computers are still happily surfing away with IE6 - we got 281,151 unique IE6 visitors (happily now under 15% of total) last 30 days

Surprised? do a quick test with some older family members or friends, "which Internet browser do you user?" Very few people are able to answer the question, never mind know how to identify the version... Geeks can bury what they want, won't change a damn thing as the problem will only be solved by the rate of failure of hard disks or other components on those millions of machines...

Operation Eagle Claw nets 18 Nigerian spammers

FAIL

Too little, way too late?

At www.justlanded.com we shut down more than 5,000 email addresses a month from Nigeria, we even fit in time to do the same for Senegal... too little for them to be shouting about. Love to know what 'fine tuning the modalities with Microsoft' is all about. If Microsoft, Yahoo and Google were actually serious about this stuff they would be turning off that many spam emails an hour.
