Home snoop CCTV more popular than Big Brother

Thumb Up

That is rather novel idea.

Hmm, I like the idea.

If UK authorities are insisting on having CCTV coverage everywhere the best thing to do is to open the feed to everyone.

I would say that this also helps to cut down any Police abuse of power, as anyone who happens to be interested can watch what local bobbies are doing.

Finnish school gunman posted warning on YouTube

This is the first

@dave

This is the first such incident ever in Finland.

And this is with country that has guns per capita ratio that is quite close to US. So it's not that bad.

I just hope that this does not become the fashionable way of flipping out.

The traditional Finnish way is to get drunk and stab someone, or just hang yourself

Tax man praised for owning up to lost laptop

You would be surprised on underground economy

@Richard

Maybe the thief that grabs your laptop has no idea whether it has any value except hardware.

But I wouldn't be too sure of the middleman who buys the laptop.

Odds are that there are quite a few of those who know enough to boot the laptop and see are there any company names or domain names visible.

After all if they manage to sell it for someone interested in ID theft of industrial espionage they get more for it.

But you are right, that any encryption makes the data worthless. Also it's a very good idea to have bios startup password. Some of them can be cracked, but that is still extra nuisance for the criminals.

Google in Colorado safe cracking caper

Well then it really is not safe cracking

Marvin:

If they already had the codes, then it is not safe cracking.

More a case of RTFM.

And about GP using search engine.

If a GP would use Google, Yahoo or some other general purpose search engine I would definitely be worried.

There are a lot of medical information resources in the web, some of them are open to public, most require user account.

I personally would prefer a doctor that already knows about what resources there are, and how trustworthy they are.

If you blindly use Google, you may end up to correct information. Or then to one of the 'alternative medicide' or scam sites.

It wasn't google

I did a bit of googling for safe cracking advice, and unless the safe was one of those 300$ Chinese hardware store safe looalikes. There is no way that google could have provided then with anything useful.

Unless they hit a vital clue like search for keys or code.

And for those hardware store safes, you don't need Google you need 5 minutes and sense of touch in your fingers.

Of those these clowns needed on hour and 15 minutes :)

Also interesting question is that did not the company have alarms and contract at local security company. 75 minutes is a lot of time for a burglar.
