Assange lawyers fume over leaked rape case docs

Asgard
Big Brother

Lawyers have to say all this

@ratfox, to start with, lawyers have to say all this. As for plausible, WTF!

ratfox, I don't believe you are one of the anti-Assange posters, but I believe you are easily swayed by them. You do need to be more critical of what you hear (and yes even what I say, critical thinking doens't have exceptions, test everything you hear from everyone). For example I see on here, a number of anti-Assange posters have totally (and very probably (straw man style) intentionally) missed the fact its Assange's lawyer who was saying this, not Assange.

But lawyers have to say this about not talking about the case publically, because that is the principle upon which a "fair trial" is supposed to be based, i.e. don't allow media to bias jury before trail. Which is also the reason Assange himself cannot comment on the case in detail, as its yet to go to trial. Lawyers have to say this or they wouldn't be doing their job. Also anyone leaking this would also know lawyers would have to say this, which just plays into their game plan to make him look bad once more.

As for this from the news "I do not know who has given these documents to the media, but the purpose can only be one thing - trying to make Julian look bad."

So who could possibly have a reason to try to make him look bad? … The only people would be people who fear what is being leaked. People in money and power. People like politicians.

By the way, after doing some more digging today, it turns out the lawyer against Assange isn't just a lawyer. By a complete stroke of luck he is also a social Democratic politician! ... he even started up his law office with Social Democratic politician and former Minister for Justice Thomas Bodström. So he is an extremely influential lawyer/politician with very powerful friends.

So strange how a case about a broken condom is being taken on by such a legal & political big gun as him.

The more I hear about this case, the more it sounds like a complete stitch up. Its like I said the other day, if people can't believe that governments would seek to frame someone then there's no hope for that kind of person to understand, because the only way to hold such a belief is to be completely ignorant of history.

How to use this effect?

Its a very interesting effect but as its so sensitive to electric currents, that would make it very susceptible to disruption if used as a memory in a computer simply as a computer is electromagnetically a very noisy environment. So its hard to imagine this technology being much use as a memory device. But as it is so sensitive, it could make some very interesting nano sized sensors and perhaps even huge arrays of sensors on one chip. That could open up a lot of new applications.

Power games & so much for Democracy...

"Twitter has been used as a command and control channel for corralling large networks of PCs"

I guess Twitter was just an easy way to help hack code together quickly, to give control over large networks of PCs. Its not a particularly good or clean way to do it, but I guess it works. The point is if it wasn't Twitter, then it would have been done any number of other ways.

I can understand people's anger (I even share their anger) but I question the effectiveness and logic of targeting companies who were always going to cave in to the government, as the government will give companies no choice. As much as governments are on the side of big business, that doesn't mean governments will tolerate any (as their government will see it) renegade business people defying their wishes. Governments have the power and they are ruthlessly arrogant about their need to be in power, when they want to be and thats the point, governments don't often throw their weight against businesses, but they can really hit out hard when they want to. You can bet there has been extreme behind the scenes intimidation directed at individuals in the companies (Divide and Conquer, hit out at individuals in the companies and threaten them and their companies with all sorts of things to undermine them and their companies).

Companies in the land of the free or with branches in the land of the free will not be allowed to have a choice by the US government. Any defiance will not be tolerated, as the government will ruthlessly seek to undermine them and the government won't just be after money, they would be after scalps to punish people for defying them and to even make an example of people, to scare others away from defying them. Governments are filled with seriously power obsessed people. They have to be to fight that high up into such ruthlessly arrogant positions of political power over people, which is why they are such closed minded arrogant bastards to everyone else. They really will not tolerate other people defying them in any way at all.

Which just highlights the real problem. Its not these companies, they are just weak spined side shows. The real problem is the Governments who are not listening to the people and therefore violating democracy, but in hindsight I don't think they ever have truly been treating it like a democracy, its just been a deceitful act & pack of lies to make us think we have a say. Which is a real and shockingly dangerous problem. We have seen in the past few weeks, the Governments actions show they don't want free speech. Therefore "the land of the free" is another lie. The actions of the people in power prove their words are a lie, because their actions & words can't both be true and their actions cannot lie, so their “land of the free” words must be the lie. Another sickening example of how our masters lie to us all. (But then Wikileaks keeps showing us our leaders lie). The sad truth is none of us in any country are really free from our masters influence and control.

So its the governments who need to be sent a message that people have had enough with the government police state moves and endless lies and attempts to deceive us. The government work for us and should listen to us, at least they want us to think that, when they want us to vote for them! Yet their arrogance and endless lies now shows we don't have a Democracy. Is it any wonder people are getting angry! :(

Blackmailing Hackers and Pop Starlets ... sounds like a reality show! :(

Blackmailing Hackers and Pop Starlets, one more reality show I wouldn't watch.

"how many hot blonde pop starlets are on record as saying they like fat blokes with beards"

What these "pop starlets" say *for media attention* and what the do, are often two entirely different things. Don't ever forget they are playing to the cameras and they want more attention so they say whatever gets them more media attention.

In reality these "pop starlets" are usually attracted to Narcissistic Personality Disordered blokes who they mistakenly perceive as strong characters. Its why their relationships are so volatile and have such a high probability of failure. The Narcissists will often cheat as it makes them feel more powerful and the Histrionics cheat for more attention. But then when you find someone who is Histrionic or Narcissistic they usually have streaks of the other disordered behaviour within them as well. Its why they get on and its why they are often so duplicitous, volatile and untrustworthy.

Ironically these hackers are also displaying a similar need for attention which has been their downfall. But they also combine that need for attention with being a big enough bastard to try to use blackmail, which is a need to exert influence other overs to control them to give them money. There's that warning sign need for control. They are showing warning signs of being arrogant self interested Narcissists combined with a Histrionic need for attention. Dealing with someone with one personality disorder is bad enough, but two disorders, no thanks.

To illustrate what I've said (for scientific purposes) try looking up the lyrics of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face". It illustrates a systematic attitude of manipulative deception. That's really the type of person you are dealing with. Whilst you obviously can't just take the lyrics on their own as evidence, in Lady Gaga's case, its bloody obvious to almost everyone how badly she is suffering from a Histrionic Personality Disorder. But then that constant need for attention has earned her millions, so it shows in some ways its an advantage, because unfortunately our society is set-up to reward this kind of behaviour.

But then ask yourself why our society rewards this behaviour. Why is it that people with money and power want to promote this kind of behaviour as good. I've found the more you ask yourself this question, the more it opens up a huge can of worms, as you start to see the politicians and top business people are this same kind of person. Its why they hold up this behaviour as the way to be and its why they are such two faced bastards as well.

Renta-spook: GCHQ commercialisation 'is a live issue'

Commercialisation of Big Brother. Oh joy.

"GCHQ could be turned into a technology incubator"

That sounds like a UK version of DARPA, but their focus seems to be narrower, so more spying and data gathering technology.

"The security minister Baroness Neville-Jones told MPs that commercialisation of the Cheltenham spy agency's technology" ... can go fuck themselves? ... no, shame. :(

So how much money will this "commercialisation" plan earn Phorm? ... Will GCHQ simply stream their data (i.e. our data formerly known as our privacy) into Phorm to legalise what Phorm wanted to do all along, which was violate our privacy for their profit?

Plus then the government can give out more of our tax payers money to research more ways to automate keyword detection on all of us to find out who of us use anti-government keywords and read anti-government news articles (like reading what these two faced bastards have been doing in wikileaks related news). Meanwhile the GCHQ / Phorm spying can help these two faced bastards in power to continue to violate our privacy to make them richer and more powerful.

So much for our privacy.

Free speech suppressed in the land of the free

Their actions show they don't want free speech. Therefore "the land of the free" is another lie. The actions of the people in power prove their words are a lie, because their actions & words can't both be true and their actions cannot lie, so their words must be the lie. Another sickening example of how our masters lie to us all. (But then Wikileaks keeps showing us our leaders lie). The sad truth is none of us in any country are really free from our masters influence and control.

@AC, ”Standards of Evidence” … "a lot of people that should really walk the plank will now always get away as they can claim that the evidence or jury or both are tainted."

Sorry that would never have worked. Life is just not like that. The people in power were always going to lie their way out. In a court of law, yes tainted evidence is inadmissible in court. But try getting the people in power into court, you wouldn't be able to. The best you could ever hope to do is get a few low ranking scape goats into court and the real power brokers in power over us wouldn't fall. Plus even by some massive stroke of luck you could throw out the entire government on some Watergate level event, you still wouldn't round up the majority of power brokers responsible and they would simply go off into the business world and earn millions in business, so hardly much punishment there. Plus we have multiple governments in each country playing these power games, so you can't take down all governments. Ultimately they are the people in power and that power allows them to resist attempts to effectively undermine their power long enough to bring them down enough to even try to punish them. They have the power to rule over us and they won't give up their power without a massive drawn out fight and they have the power to win that fight.

Sadly I wish I could agree with your idealistic view, but unfortunately your approach fails simply due to your idealistic view of the law and morality, because you are still living under the lies they want you to believe. The true nature of the law is a lie. Its a set of rules to define how a society must live but its also a set of rules that maintain their power and that is the past that is hidden by their lies. The world we live in is shaped by the wishes of the people in power. I have lived for most of my life under that same idealistic view and I can see now many people make the same mistakes as I did. We are all being lied to endlessly. :(

Thankfully wikileaks is helping to show us all that the people in power have very little morality because whatever they say, their lying underhanded ways really show they are only interested in themselves and the law is ultimately what they say is the law and what generations of people just like them have said is the law. Generations of self interested Narcissistic two faced Machiavellian people biasing law in their favour and they define the society we live in. They are the law. (They are always thinking about what the law changes (that they bring in) really means to them and what it means to their expanding governmental departments (that they run) with more influence and bigger budgets (so more money for them) and so their power keeps increasing).

A very good example of how they bias the law in their favour is the whole history how they have punished people trying to gain access to *their* secrets. Its the same story for centuries. We have very serious state punishments for anyone trying to leak secrets, (even if these secrets could show them up for what they have done as Wikileaks has now shown). Therefore most of the time, we have no access to the truth to see what they are really doing, so we just hear what lies they want us to hear. (The MP expenses claims showed this perfectly. It took over 5 years of so called “freedom of information requests” (another lie, as its no real freedom of information) and the end result, nothing, the government blocked every attempt to gain access to the information. In the end, the only way was for some frankly brave person to actually steal the evidence from them! … same with Wikileaks, the only way we see what is really going on).

The people in power have power over us, its as simple as that. We put them into power even though they keep on ending up showing they lie endlessly to us, but then we really have no choice, just an illusion of choice. Even if we don't put them into power we ultimately have no choice because every party at that level of power has these same kind of Narcissistic Machiavellian people in that party. That is the nature of power. They are drawn to power. Its a loose loose loose choice for voters. There is no real winning move.

The only hope we have is to police the people in power far more closely, because by getting to see what they are really doing, we can at least have a hope of stopping their more extreme actions and that is where technology can help us to watch and record them like never before. We very badly need sites like Wikileaks because the people over us keep showing they are such two faced lairs. But then Niccolò Machiavelli tried to tell us all that nearly 500 years ago!. But then many people just like us for generations have suspected the people in power are lairs, but its at least helpful to have it so conclusively proved, because now we can show up anyone who fails to see the people in power are such lairs, (thanks to Wikileaks and thanks to the Internet) so now we can focus on being more unified in standing against the arrogant self interested two faced lairs we have to deal with over us!

The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to unfortunately realize this is actually big news. Fuck its sickeningly big. Yet another big sickening authoritarian move. Its a major blow for hardware modders but its also really bad for all of us, because of what it ultimately really means.

Anything I buy I will do what I like with it, (as I have done all my life!). I am not a pawn of the corporations to be dictated to that I cannot open a box and I cannot do this and I cannot do that etc..

When I buy something its mine, so in a *free world*, if I choose, then I can and I will pull it apart and if I want to, I can even then jump up and down on its pieces and morally I can also even show others how to pull it apart and jump up and down on it. Its mine! ... (yes I know I said in a free world, because this news actually shows how bad the authoritarian control of the corporations is getting over us all).

This so called legal move is a direct violation on my freedom. Its also a sick corrupt mockery of the principle of a law. I don't respect this law, I detest it and all who push for it, because they show how corrupt the law is becoming. The law is suppose to represent the wishes of the people, not just the wishes of a minority of powerful rich people who seek to restrict the freedom of everyone else for their profit!

The bastards who are ruling over us are getting ever more extreme in their absolute abuse of "the law" to dictate their will to us. Its not the law any more, its their wishes!

I will never be a pawn of the corporations, to do what they want, when they want, how they want, all for their profit! ... they just want us as consumers. Don't create anything, don't think, just consume, every bloody step of our lives. Fuck that!. That isn't the world I want to live in and I'm sure many others don't either.

This ever increasing authoritarian bullshit has to stop!

Winner takes all Poker

This corporate consolidation game feels like a very high stakes game of winner takes all Poker, where over time, ever more corporations fold and loose out (yet their greedy directors walking away with huge bonuses for folding their corporations, even though they say its for shareholders etc.., they are the real winners of that move), and the last few players in the game go on to fight to become the winner who ends up taking the vast pot of winnings, to become some kind of trillionaire super corporation.

A few mega rich, mega powerful, super corporations. Even worse as the "Tech firms warn Ireland on bailout" news showed, the corporations already strongly influence governments. Yet these growing super corporations will become even more powerful.

At which point we will all end up having to pay effectively homage to these few global super corporations, as they will be in many ways our new rulers, over everything we say, know everyone we speak to and every bit of money we spend, they will know about and everywhere we go they will effectively able to follow us and record it all. Plus if that all isn't bad enough, they will also be the outsourced government departments monitoring over us and fining us at every step we take that they don't like. (Just look at the way the music industry is affecting the Internet now and imagine that magnified into every walk of life).

Far from being freed from slavery, this all sounds like a growing new form of slavery, one where we cannot see the chains and the whips, but they are there every step we take and every step we take that they don't like. :(

Welcome to super corporation Winner takes all consolidation Poker, where its win win win for the people at the top, and all of us loose endlessly so our masters can win some more. :(

WiMAX has powerful rich enemies

While I'm interested in 4G radio I don't like the way phone companies are behaving.

Its important to note that WiMAX is not dead, its just got very powerful enemies like rich phone companies who lobby and spread negative PR stories about WiMAX to undermine it, because the phone companies want everyone to think WiMAX is dead because phone companies earn their living from controlling their phone/wireless distribution network and WiMAX would help undermine their business plan.

The way control freak ISP's and phone companies are being increasingly totalitarian with us, the more I hope technology like WiMAX does succeed as a way to bypass the so called "last mile" part of phone networks and so help undermine the control freaks.

Unscramble encrypted communications? ... Oh great, how long before the law mandates access to all our data?! ... leave our passwords with the (Police) State ... If this wasn't so serious it would be surreal, like watching a scifi film of a growing global Police State?!

Privacy? ... it seems that was a pre-21st century concept, simply due to the lack of a technical way to systematically violate everyone privacy. Now we have the technology, they increasingly move to want the ability to spy on us all without end.

Well at least the Police State builders in the US won't have any problems pushing this through over here, as our MP's would be more than happy to roll over and force the law changes through regardless of which party is in power at the time. (As they unfortunately keep showing). After all our MP's in all parties appear to be desperate to be leading the world in the creation of a Police State.

Give them more time and it will be more like that :(

@"If that was really against the law, half the country's population would be in jail."

Or far more likely, put under continuous automated watch by their Police State and labelled as a political trouble maker. If some of the people in power had their way, that's exactly the kind of power they would like to have (and soon will have), so they could force people to do what they say. This case shows the attitude of the people in power, how we the serfs have to hold them in high esteem, otherwise they want to whip us into line for our disrespect of them.

With such an arrogant attitude like that being used to subjugate the French so badly, I guess we won't have to wait many more years before we get to see the next French revolution against their ruling classes. These arrogant people in power never learn. But then learning would require empathy and these arrogant people don't have empathy to see how badly they are treating others. Which is also why things are getting progressively worse for all of us.

Shocking now that speaking disrespectfully and making fun of a politician out there now gets you arrested, home raided, 48 hours in custody, plus the chance of a prison sentence of up to a month and a fine of up to €10,000 on charges of "displaying contempt towards a public servant". That kind of behaviour sounds like France before the revolution, over 200 years ago! :(

Meanwhile Google has taken 20 months to reach the landmark of 100k Apps. No idea what Apple and other mobile companies are up to so far.

Plus "270 million units worldwide" ... so say 270000 Apps in 4 years time (and very likely to be way more than this) thats still just 1000 sales per app. Of course it won't be like that, it'll be 99% of sales for the top say 100 apps and very little for hundreds of thousands of apps. So the only people who will really profit are the app shops. Most developers are basically the shop/platform owners pawns, other than the few who will feel like lottery winners with the top selling apps.

@moonface: "eventually lead to the The Mother of All Wikileaks"

Dream on, moonface, they won't allow you to see their data, which will be most likely made legally exempt from spying at all, so no attempt to store their data, so no data to leak.

Meanwhile the rest of us will end up having every word we say automatically transcribed and added to our on going ever growing profile. (Don't forget the fact they can backup a vast amount of the Internet at archive.org so our government could easily backup vast amounts of our data (which they then sell/leak to businesses for their profit). Plus as time moves on, they will get ever better profiling methods to go over this data in ever more detail. Plus they will not really delete all this data. They will have excuses to keep data built into their laws and they will abuse these excuses to target ever more groups data).

They really do rule us, but sadly our ruling classes are increasingly going back to their old ways of treating us literally like their surfs to control as they like. In effect, we must live in servitude to serve them, our ruling masters, to make them richer. Oh we get to play the meaningless democracy game, every so many years, to make one choice, so we get to choose which group of arrogant people we allow into power every so many years, but that's just a game for them. The one's thrown out of power go into corporate businesses, so they can continue their greedy power games in the business world, helped by their friends still in politics.

Its been this way with businesses and politics for centuries but they are getting worse over time and now they have ever more technology to spy and identify who to punish for their own gain, like never before. Even worse its so one sided and that asymmetry is getting increasingly worse over time. For example they get to lie to us as they twist the new laws to suit them and they get to spend billions of our money to build ever more spying systems against us all as this news shows. We can't do that and they know it, so they really are getting increasingly more powerful against us over time. :(

If that isn't bad enough, try leaking their data in the future and they will know who done it. This is the end of all anonymity, exactly as they want it, as it allows them to then eventually punish anyone speaking out or leaking data against them. :(

How to stop Apple and Google's great web lockdown

Asgard

@"leave a skeleton of a front end to do input validation and drive the wiz-bang GUI."

The problem is when the wiz-bang GUI is a major part of the application, e.g. a video game, then that forces that game to become totally open source and yet as the games industry is so competitive that means competitors will have access to the code and some will take competitors code to use or reverse engineer it for themselves. So like it or not, financial business survival in the games industry for the vast majority of cases necessitates closed source.

Also I would like to see someone write a Quake style first person shoot-em-up 3D engine in HTML5. The point is, its not even close to capable of matching other means of achieving that level of coding. So HTML5 isn't going to displace other languages in all computationally intensive applications including even Java.

Wikileaks outs 400,000 classified Iraq War docs

400k!? Wow … Good, I've had enough.

We need to know what is being done in our name by our representatives. The military represent us in this country just as our government is suppose to represent us here. But after our government's latest deeply insulting moves to treat us all like their enemy as they seek to wipe out our freedom, privacy & liberty, (by adding continuous spying on all of us) we need Wikileaks more than ever to tell us what is really going on.

So after our government's latest huge increase in spying moves against us all, I have little sympathy left for any government, especially after suffering so much of their two faced lying behaviour directed at all of us. Yes Wikileaks is high profile, but don't ever forget the effect the US government has had, as they have repeatedly denounced and demonised Wikileaks in the media; resulting in making Wikileaks so much more high profile. But its profile is irelevant compared to the far more important fact and message that this huge leak shows once again, that our government representatives keep on lying to us all about what is really going on, yet even worse as this huge leak is showing, our own governments (not Wikileaks) are causing the deaths of tens of thousands of innocent people!

We are witnessing tens of thousands of innocent people killed by our governments!, innocent people caught up in this war dying needlessly and its impossible for anyone to ignore the fact their grieving angry families will hate us all for the rest of their lives. So this perpetual war on terror isn't defusing the anger, its actually increasing the anger against our country!?! ... so why continue, when will it ever finally end?!

So on the one hand we have the perpetual war on terror and on the other, the endless moves to seek to eliminate our freedom, privacy & liberty in the name of this perpetual war on terror!

So I can't help thinking the power hungry two faced lying people in power secretly want this perpetual war to continue, as its giving them the endless excuses they need to continue with their extremely ever more Orwellian push towards total control over their own people, i.e. all of us!. This war evidently isn't making the anger against our country reduce, its actually increasing the anger against us all and so increasing the risk of reprisals. It feels like we are stuck in a self perpetuating feedback loop. War creates fear of reprisals, so they hit out with more war, creating greater fear of reprisals. So when do they finally say enough and finally end this?! ... I guess the answer is becoming increasingly; when they have finally wiped out our freedom, privacy & liberty and turned the world into their police state! :(

So we need sites like Wikileaks more than ever, as we desperately need to be told what is really being done in our name, by our two faced lying manipulative power hungry representatives in ever increasing power over all of us!

WTF is happening to our country!

Only two months ago I said:

Year 2000 - It wasn't perfect land of hope and glory and all that, but we had some freedom, privacy & liberty.

Year 2010 - Police State, they try to spy on us at every move, even being stripped naked by scanners is ok for them!

The terrorists don't need to destroy our way of life, our own government is doing that for them!

Yet just two months later here we are again with another huge example of the never ending march towards the end of our freedom. I'm getting increasingly angry at what these people are doing to our country. They are not doing this to save lives. More people die each year on the roads and in NHS fuckups than die from terrorists yet they spend billions (of our money!) trying to clamp down and wipe out our liberty, privacy and freedom in the name of the terrorists. Why? because of terrorists? No, because these power hungry bastards in power want more power and power is the power to dictate to us how we must all live. Adding increasingly more automated spying on all of us, gives them the power to build profiles over time on all of us whilst they seek ever more ways to add fines to modify our behaviour according to their never ending wishes.

p.s. Also its very interesting how they are doing this move on the day of the cuts. That is a typical political cover move designed to distract most people from even seeing this news, whilst they are more busy talking about all the cuts. They know if this was the only news, more people would be more angry, so they waited until now to tell us. (Its like how one of the spin doctors said on the day Diana died, that it was a good day to release bad news stories!, as people would be more distracted by that story, so they would react less to other bad news stories. Its exactly that same political manipulation trick). Shows exactly what they are like :(

Orwell was absolutely right about the power hungry people in power. :(

WTF?

Felony wiretapping charges?!

I find it very interesting how often we see this repeating pattern of police behaviour of them utterly hating being filmed and then doing all they can to find any way they can to punish anyone who tries to film them for the crime as they see it of filming them. This seems to be a repeating pattern around the world of people in police authority. They very evidently fear people seeing the truth. The question then is why do they fear people seeing exactly what they are doing? What are they so self concious about? ... Do they really fear so often being seen to be behaving outside of the laws that they themselves must also follow.

Knowledge is power so why do they fear more people knowing exactly how they are behaving, unless that knowledge gives power against them.

Schmidt: 'Google doesn't do data mining'

Asgard
WTF?

@Google boss Eric Schmidt has claimed that his company doesn't "do data mining."

So Google don't data mine?!, so WTF does he think all the servers are doing, that his company keeps buying!. Plus where does he think all the servers get their data to process?!

Its completely beyond all credibility that the guy doesn't know his company data mines. Therefore it is simply an outright blatant lie on his part. I'm sure he lies because he fears governments around the world will force regulation on Google if he keeps implying his company is spying on everyone, so now he doesn't even want to admit its data mining.

So Google don't do data mining; we will have to add that one to the growing list of Google doublespeak. Plus the Google newspeak for data mining is now “PageRanking”. WTF!

He comes across as the kind of utterly two faced guy who would say black is white if he thought he could earn more money from it.

As for when he is joking or not, that's all part of the two faced duplicity game. If he gets pressure on something he says, then he can pass it off as just a joke. If there is no pressure then he can keep moving forward.

Plus as its so blatantly obvious he outright lies to even simple questions like this, then I don't expect the truth from him when asked serious deeper questions about the overall increasingly Orwellian goals of Google.

Its very disturbing we have such a two faced Machiavellian guy in control of the most Orwellian company in world history!

Size........................................ 284 cabinets............. 23 cabinets

Power draw.............................. 7-10 MW.................. 1.15 MW

That's better (the marketing spin was getting to me). It shows cost differences isn't so great.

Anyway I'm all for GPUs (and any other solution) as Intel CPU performance over the past few years seems to be running out of steam so to speak, as its really not moving forward as fast as I had hoped. Even the available amounts of ram per motherboard are not getting much bigger. in fact many motherboards are going over to 2 memory slots not more slots :( ... Its all starting to feel like Intel CPUs are stuck with small incremental improvements. We do need a new way forward for all sizes of computers if Intel can't provide.

The amazing way scientific progress is moving forward, the creationists are going to have their worst century ever in trying to hold back the ever increasing weight of scientific evidence that shows creationists are wrong.

It is however becoming very clear though that the creationists are lining up to fight back against science. They will ultimately fail, but they are becoming a threat of holding progress back like all the creationist propaganda they are trying to put into schools.

So science needs to hammer home the evidence at every opportunity. Science needs to step up the war on Creationism because the Creationists are stepping up their war on science.

I can't see them doing it and anyway as for stopping piracy, it would still fail. After all, its only going to take one leak of a film for it to be out on the Internet, plus it could even be sometimes leaked by just one cinema low paid member of staff who wanted to earn some more money on the side by working with pirates to sell films on DVD. Pirates will find a way to get the film, no matter want VUE do and anything they try to do will simply reduce their profits.

Thanks for posting that news link. I wasn't aware of that news at all and its shocking how bad it is. I would recommend everyone read your link because that kind of indiscriminate use of force causing such lasting horrific suffering has to be made more public. There is absolutely no way they can bring peace to a country with actions that cause these kinds of horrific results. No innocent person would accept that level of indiscriminate behaviour in their own country, let alone the lasting horrific effects as well!. Actions like this are going to make many people in many countries hate our country. Then on top of that the control freaks over here react by forcing ever more Orwellian levels of control over us all here!, saying its for our protection! It looks like we need wikileaks to tell us what the rest of the world seems to be seeing over there!

WTF are our control freaks in power playing at! ... this isn't making it better, its making it far worse! They are allowing their subordinates to get away with far too much. This madness has to stop.

It looks like wikileaks needs to add lists of who is profiting from both the war and the growing Orwellian levels of control, so we can finally see precisely who to blame and just what they are all getting out of it.

For anyone still believing the political line, here's two excerpts from that news link. Ask yourself if you would accept any country to do that kind of action against your family and your country...

"Researchers found a 38-fold increase in leukaemia, a ten-fold increase in female breast cancer and significant increases in lymphoma and brain tumours in adults. At Hiroshima survivors showed a 17-fold increase in leukaemia, but in Fallujah Dr Busby says what is striking is not only the greater prevalence of cancer but the speed with which it was affecting people."

I mean, WTF!, Fallujah now has worse cancer rates than Hiroshima!

ARM flexes muscles with fivefold performance boost

Asgard

Intel's reaction...

16 cores running at 2.5GHz using the same same energy as today's ARM chips!

I bet that is secretly getting Intel's attention even if they won't admit it!

Its about time some serious competition came along to the bloated x86 processor design. Intel for too long has layered more and more complexity over decades of legacy processor designs, resulting in too much energy wasted and too much chip space wasted in their ever growing processor design. That was bad enough years ago, but now with the move to ever more cores, Intel's design has to duplicate a lot of bloat for each core. That means they struggle to put many more cores in to their designs and when they do, their designs end up eating a lot of power. That's opening up a big opportunity to take them in both numbers of cores and overall power usage. So I bet Intel are watching ARM very closely.

I can't wait! :)

(I wonder how much power globally we are wasting on x86 designs?). Surely sooner or later Intel have to break from X86 designs?

One problem, Intel have to be legally blocked from ever buying out ARM, because if they do they will sideline ARM so they can keep on selling their bloated designs for years to come.

If ARM play this right, over the next decade they could even become the new Intel, with the majority of Intel's profits, because Intel's designs are in trouble. I know Intel control the PC, but ARM sell way more processors already and mobile devices of this kind of processing power are a serious threat to Intel's future position.

I really can't wait! :D

@Trevor_Pott

The "carnival" you refer to (and feel so affronted by) is caused by the government and media furore, not by the people behind wikileaks who have up until recently tried very hard to stay anonymous. But clearly the attention they are getting is getting to you.

Also its not a conspiracy, corruption in positions of power is a fact of life. So Trevor_Pott your refusal to see this means you are either profoundly naive of what they are really like, or you troll for them, because no one else could be so blind to the way the world really works. (The people who seek power over others have had their Machiavellian ways well documented for over 500 years! … and a very common tactic is to undermine opponents like leaders of high profile groups openly opposing them, exactly like wikileaks).

If you still don't believe how corrupt the thinking is of many people in power, just look at the MP expenses corruption to see what they are really like, when they are not monitored by the people. (Look how long so many of the MP's couldn't even see they were doing anything wrong!). Finally after reporters spent over 5 years tying to get at the truth, through endless freedom of information requests to the government, who opposed us hearing the truth at every move, in the end, the only way to get at that real data was to finally steal it from the government!! ... yet they say they work for us!. Like hell they do. They dictate to us, and lie to us and obstruct and undermine everyone else, always to gain more power, or hold onto power, but they don't work for us. They lie and manipulate without end and we are suppose to just keep taking it. So they have to be policed by the people they say the represent and yes, they do undermine opponent groups like wikileaks, because it risks undermining them. Its bloody obvious to almost everyone they are seeking to undermine wikileaks by undermining one of the main people behind it. They don't want us to see the truth because it risks undermining their positions of power so they fear wikileaks.

So Trevor_Pott stop your straw man arguments because the fact still remains, that corruption exists in every society so it has to be openly policed or we rapidly end up living in a Plutocracy Dictatorship. But then there are some in society (the Narcissists) who secretly want a Dictatorship, as long as their kind are in power over others. That pattern keeps repeating throughout history and so it has to be policed against to keep stopping them getting their own way at the expense of others.

Asgard
WTF?

@Trevor_Pott, this is your WAKE UP call!

@"Now, the whole world get to decide as it's all played out in the public eye."

That's one of the most profoundly naive statements I've heard in years. There is so much you are missing behind the scenes. For example all the behind the scenes discussions of various powerful groups who will want to silence him any way they can and lets not forget high up people making deals and bringing in all the highly paid top lawyers who know how to twist the law to suit their goals. Then you also have the behind the scenes politics where pressure is applied from very high up people in the legal profession who want a conviction and are in near constant contact with political people. Plus that is before you even add in all the various security services high up people who will be pushing political people hard for any conviction.

Its like the old saying, its often not what you know, its who you know. Politics thrives on behind the scenes deals between powerful people and make no mistake, these powerful people don't want all their deals and mistakes to be leaked out in the open, so they will do all they can to silence high profile leaks like wikileaks.

Plus all that is before you even add in the possibility that they are using people to fabricate the circumstances of the case. For example it wouldn't be the first time in history a so called "honey trap" was used to blackmail or frame someone. (The fact we even have a phrase for " honey trap" shows its a tactic that has been used before, in fact used throughout history). Then you just bring in the high power lawyers to burn him based on their false testimony.

So Trevor_Pott, while you are finally waking up, try reading some of this link ... it lists people who have been trapped in this way.

Google's Wave flop: Spare us the warm fuzzies

Asgard
Big Brother

Wave, another of Google's ultimately insidious ploys...

As well as all the above reasons for Wave to fail, I have two additional reasons.

The first is that there is and has always been a considerable aspect of Entrepreneurship helping to drive Internet changes. Its the modern day gold rush. That can be seen most clearly during the Dot-com boom, but its still very much here even now. A lot of Entrepreneurs will not want to share their latest and greatest ideas and creations with Google especially when they also have to be based on Google technology. The fear is that Google can just look over their shoulders so to speak and then think that's an interesting idea and then just copy the idea. Yes we can all dream Google will buy the idea, but they can just as easily just copy the idea and borg it into their corporation and give the original idea creator nothing.

Blue Pumpkin makes a very good point about internal company culture and how that doesn't always translate into external culture. Google internally have this, share your ideas with us, attitude relentlessly brainwashed into all their employees, most noticeably in the idea that all employees get 20% of their time to work on their own ideas in Google time. That sounds (at first) like such a wonderful deal for the employees, they get to do so much fun stuff but in reality, if all these talented entrepreneurial programmers were working for other companies (or left to start companies), then Google would have to spend often millions for these ideas, from these programmers, whereas this way Google get these ideas for a fraction of the cost and the programmers are the ones who really loose out without ever realizing it. (Google really does fit the pattern of behaviour characterised as a Corporate Cult yet the employees don't see this while they work there (I've worked for Corporate Cults and I know how hard it is to see until you leave and go to a totally different company with a different internal culture)). Here's a good quick summary of Corporate Cults and their behaviour. Google fit this perfectly.

http://www.factnet.org/Purchase_Books/Corporate_Cults.htm

The point is the Google Corporate cult internal company culture doesn't translate well into the real world. We are not all obedient slaves to the wishes of the Google directors to give them our ideas for their gain.

The second additional reason against Wave is many users are also not brainwashed into giving Google all their data. Wave sounds way to much like cloud computing kind of thinking, where all our data is then held in this big (Google) cloud and Wave was a very clear attempt to convince more people to find more ways for Google to get more people's data into Google's servers. So they can then spy on all this data. We are not all going to fall for that insidious ploy Google.

WTF?

@Willy Messerschmitt and Antennas??

Try this link (e.g. Microstrip antennas), it avoids the length limitations of the bog standard antenna you are talking about...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microstrip_antenna

The point is there are many antenna designs and you are only considering the most basic (either school level antenna designs or your electronics knowledge is out of date by about 40 years).

Also add in a small photovoltaic array and add a small ultra capacitor and you get an ability to accumulate power ready for busts of activity, after all they don't have to be on continuously.

Plus some RFID use battery assisted passive hardware, e.g.

http://www.racoindustries.com/alientechnology_battery.htm

(While other RFID designs are simply powered by the RF they receive).

So there are many practical ways to already overcome the limitations you assume and its getting better all the time.

@"sos I'll give it away in... ...the DAILY" Mirror (not Mail)

He is saying these stupid, overly dramatic and controversial things (like a lot of celebrities (people often with a Histrionic Personality Disorder) who are in need of attention) so he and many like him can keep getting more attention and through endless self promotion they then go on to have big well publicised concerts which earn them an additional fortune. (There is something very two faced about this attention seeking behaviour where they say one thing but are really seeking attention through their actions).

Another example like him (i.e. a HPD attention seeking celebrity) is Lady Gaga who in attention seeking terms is like a female version of him with a lobster on her head or whatever). Its all about attention. Plus people who seek attention hold these very effective attention seekers up as their role models. (Which explains Lady Gaga's 10M facebook record).

Its an endless need for attention attention attention with them. (Take away people's attention on them and they go to pieces … which is when they turn to drink and drugs to suppress their troubling thoughts, because they can't cope with no attention).

So giving the CD away in the Daily mirror is also another way to get attention.

Also this giving the music away (how much is the mirror paying for this exclusive) does also show a business model that will work online where musicians give their music away as promotional material to then earn their living from performances in concerts (exactly as musicians have done for centuries). But then the music publishers won't like that as they are no longer needed and they could very well be part of his game plan with this CD release, as he has had battles with music publishers in the past (Sony) trying to get a bigger slice of the money, so by taking this action he is publicly bypassing the music publishers.

So on the surface it appears stupid, but its actually far more devious, two faced and manipulative once you see why they do the things they do.
