Pranksters infiltrate live Macworld feed

#alzain and others

They had mirrored their site onto some servers which didn't have PHP installed and it served the PHP pages including login information as plain text. Nothing to do with Mac security at all just dumb web administration by some people who should have known better.

"Oh yes, I know that there is the annual de-authorise everything option, but that is simply a pain in the balls."

Click Deautorize All.

re-authorize all machines which haven't been stolen by typing your password.

Where is the "Pain in the Balls?"

"Or someone who has installed an alternative piece of software to manage the music on his iPod ? One which doesnt tie the user down to approved music sources ? Or try and install software the user doesnt want ?

My computer, my mp3 player, NOT rented or leased but MINE.

Read it asshat :)"

Well assuming you are actually talking about an iPod touch. Try clicking the APP store icon and examining it there. OR Browse to the web page on the ipod and follow the links from there - it will magically take you to the relevant part of the app store where you can purchase it from there. Alternatively just jailbreak the thing and download what you want.

As there is a reason for not having itunes on your machine one would assume that you are just an asshat who likes to make smarmy comments and not actually the owner of either an iphone or an ipod touch. So however interesting the app or however well it works you are not going to be able to look at it or examine it. So grow up.

Who's got more cash? Apple or Microsoft?

Stop

@frank

"doesn't microsoft still own a massive chunk of apple "

God I am getting SO fed up of cutting and pasting this response.

The very short answer NO.

The long answer.

In 1997 when Steve Jobs returned to Apple his mate Bill Gates invested in 150 Million Dollars of Apple's shares. At the time Apple had 3 or 4 billion in the bank. Apple's share price at the time of the investment was around 12 bucks a share. Microsoft sold their shares when the stock hit around 70 or 80 bucks (this after two stock splits) making Microsoft a tidy sum.

Back in 1997 Microsoft were being heavily leaned on because of their abuse of their monopoly position and keeping Apple alive at the time gave them someone to point at and say "look, Apple are selling computers, we're not a monopoly". Oh and the payment also resolved an issue where Microsoft were being sued for things such as using complete chunks of Apple video codec code - complete with comments - in their media playback software at the time.

So, Mr Frank, Microsoft do NOT own a massive chunk of anything Apple, save from all those ideas they continually rip-off a year or three after Apple release them.

Rocketing iPhone sales drive Apple into phone vendor top ten

""It forecast some 345m phones will ship during Q4" - The G1 sold 1.5m in presales. Nothing special about the toy phone"

I am pretty impressed with that figure considering LAST week HTC who make them came out saying that they were only making 600,000 this year! If you're gonna slag off the iPhone at least do it for a sensible reason rather than reiterating some analyst bullshit number count.

Paris Hilton

Unfortunately they HAVE to...

If they don't protect their trademark then others can come in and use the fact they didn't protect it in this case against them. So this is not Apple being evil this is what they have to do.

Paris - coz even Paris knows that!

Spot the Tony Smith Article

Gosh Tony,

You can easily work out an Apple article by you as if it is a generally positive article and published on the Reg then you are responsible... All the other slagging off appears to be done by the other contributors.
