The US and all other countries have to comply with EU regulations when the access the EU market. However they are free to make their own trade deals with other countries whereas the UK was not as a paying member of the EU market - nor could we import anything without applying EU tariffs.
UK council elections were rate payers only until 1946 or so and indeed continued in Northern Ireland until 1969 which created the one man one vote civil rights movement (it was already one man one vote for Westminster and Northern Ireland Assembly votes). If you didn`t pay rates you didn`t get a vote - so only the head of the household got a vote and if you owned a business or multiple businesses and paid rates for them you could actually have several votes...
Some 5 years ago I connected my YouTube account to my Gmail account and it was subsequently banned for copyright infringement (videos which are now on youtube by others who are not banned and have ads play over their vids instead). To this day I cannot log into YouTube without signing out of Gmail / Google+ and then signing in with another email account - hardly the best way of getting people sharing stuff? Google needs to look at that!
Just wondering what google`s strartegy is. My YouTube account was `permanently disbaled` about 5 years ago with the login email linked to my current gmail account (and seemingly not able to unlink them). Now of course it is easy enough to set up a new email and youtube account using that - but seeing as my Google+ and facebook and website email accounts are linked into Gmail I`m not sure I could be bothered signing out of gmail everytime i wanted to go to youtube and watch a video - not very helpful with their google+ social netwrk either I should think - seeing as nearly all the content that was on my banned youtube account is now available on youtube by the content producers is there any point to their `bans`?
A very Roman Catholic looking Jesus what with the `sacred heart` and all but really the ASA should Butt out, they already got their butts kicked in court when they tried to ban the Free Presbyterian Church from publishing passages of scripture in adverts for protests against Belfast Pride...deeming the passages of scripture deeply offensive.
come off it guys - there are some really remote areas in Scotland that increase the cost of providing basic broadband. Hasn`t the UK government promised decent broadband speeds to the whole UK as part of their programme for Government (and Labour before that). In Northern Ireland e had a similar situation with some very small and rural villages with dreadful broadband speeds approaching dial-up speeds, however the big difference being NI is a relatively small place and the various EU, UK and NI Assembly funding schemes have pretty much plugged the gap indeed surpassed that as most of NI now has infinity speeds.
I learned to tack scientific `fact` with a pinch of salt when i learned that the pictures we were shown in our biology gcse (well scottish standard grades actually) of fetus development in various animals and humans showing vestigial gill slits in baby embryos turned out to be falsified photos by ernst haeckel which were proven false hundred years ago yet were being peddled as facts in biology classes and text books - i didn`t find out these photos were false until a few years ago , 10 years after i had left school.
The dogs name was nigger, the operations codeword was nigger named after the dog -surely they could have come up with something better than digger as a replacement - i`m sure there are plenty of other words for black in other languages that could have been substituted since that was the point - the dog was black .
I don`t live in a Cabled area but I have the BT Vision Digital Freeview / PVR / Video on demand over broadband box and it has improved alot from the original software. I`m not sure if it has 2 or 3 tuners. You can record 2 channels and watch a third I think. The record and record series options work well for busy work schedules as I never miss programmes now, just watch them when I want and the video on demand often saves a trip to the DVD shop.
You would think a full time pastor would read his bible - whilst the likes of 1 Theselonians 4, Mark 13 & Matthew 24 talk of the rapture they also say things like `But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.` and `Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:`
the built in thunderbird spam filters work to a certain extent but I had to add mailwasher pro as i was getting so much spam that thunderbird missed but eventually found running my email through gmail and then back to thunderbird is the most effective spam filter.
I solved my spam problem (maybe 300 spam emails every day compared to 50 legit) by adding my pop3 email into Gmail / Google Mail and then using thunderbird with imap to access Gmail (you can of course use pop3 instead). I had previously used thunderbird and mailwasher but Gmail spam filtering seems to be excellent rarely missing anything and rarely giving false positives.
interesting that this is classed as `bigotry` and `anti-gay` when in fact it was an app for Gay people who struggle with their sexuality. Surely it is for those people to decide to download it or not. Lots of this sort of thing going on - Christian B&B, Christian Florists, Church Ads, Christian foster carers all being told what they can do and cant do and what they are and are not allowed to think or have opinions on. In the case of the Church ad atleast the judge ruled in favour of freedom of speech. The Vatican (not the best source considering the pedo Priest scandals) were at the UN this week and also a Scottish Catholic Bishop called on Prime Minister Cameron to state if he thought Christian morality was bigoted. Was also interesting to see the gay, athiest Dr David Starkey on BBC Question time support the Christian foster carers.

I wonder will BT beable to use the BT Vision box for this service rather than the onlive micro console? The BT Vision box provides digital freeview plus recording to hard drive and pause live tv like Tivo but it also gives you on demand services live streaming tv shows ad films over the broadband connection
and a gay atheist on BBC Question time panel said it was `liberal tyranny`. There are 10,000 foster carers needed in england - well there is one kid still in a care home right now because of silliness - the couple had already fostered 15 kids - but apparently `they are not fit not never were to be foster carers` - silliness in the extreme and the foster kids suffer - oh and they also said they would love the kid no matter what. Just because you disagree with something doesnt mean you hate.
As to this app - like I said how can it be a hateful bigotted app when it is aimed at gay people? It is gay people and / or people struggling with their sexuality that are going to download it IF THEY WANT TO.
This is a bit like the Christian foster carers that were rejected by social services recently because of their views despite having loving an caringly given homes to 15 foster kids previously - there is a chronic lack of foster carers, 10,000 are needed in england let alone the rest of the uk. On BBC question time it was a gay atheist that stood up for freedom and liberty and the right og the couple to foster so long as they loved the kid. The Christian Bible sets standards but is balanced with `love thy neighbour` and a teaching of the fact that nobody is perfect, nobody is good enough to get into heaven of themselves and hence the need of a saviour in the form of Christ.
Sorry to rock the boat here - but this app is for gay people that want the app - for gay people that do not want to be gay or are struggling with their feelings. Surely it is up to those people to decide to download it or not and for those gay people happy with themselves to not download it as the app is not aimed at them?
As to the philosophy that god created us as we are - perhaps - perhaps he also created us with the ability to make our own decisions - the Christian Bible teaches that sin separates us from God and Heaven. You can argue that God knew we were going to sin of course being all knowing. Various different arguments but the central message of the is that sin separates us (gay, straight, black, white, man women) and Jesus bridges the gap.
Have to say that until I got my HTC Hero 4 months ago I didn`t bother with mobile internet as my previous phones were not up to the job, lower resolution, no touch screen interfece etc..Android and iphone makes all the difference and makes using the internet on a phone pleasurably although there are still speed issues and receptions issues.
Just upgraded as well and there are 3 or 4 folders missing. Like yourself I had GB of emails going back perhaps 5 years over 8 email accounts and perhaps 40 folders including filters that moved some emails from one account to a folder in another account. Haven`t found the emails yet although I suspect they are still there and TB3 just isn`t picking them up!! ( Running Windows 7 )..and I`m not the only person this has affected:-

I was going to change from Orange to O2 for the iphone but then came across the Hero. I almost went anyhow after several reviews reported the Hero as slow and underpowered but i can confirm as soon as you update the ROM (if you even need to now) there are no such issues and HTC are currently at work on Android 2.1 implementation of Sense for Hero. The Android OS & apps and the Sense UI are excellent and no lag except when you have alot of apps running at the same time (iphone can only run 1 at a time) and then it is just a case of freeing up some memory with a free task manager from the app store. I have facebook, myspace & twitter widgets running plus flyscreen rss aggregator all the time with no slow down. The only thing about the Hero is the dreadful camera...CameraFx from the app store helps things a bit but come on HTC, sort out your cameras..a 5megapixel camera that takes blurry pics is no use at all..Camerafx fixes that a bit so it is partly a software issue...but is is also sloooowwwwww at taking pics as has been my experience with other HTC phones. But as an internet phone it is great. fully recommend it for bloggers / social networking etc ....
What Seán & Anonymous Coward fail to highlight is the likes of `Fifty Dead Men Walking` author Sean McGartland, an Irish Catholic in the British Army who infiltrated the IRA and posed and acted as an IRA terrorist - is that British State collusion with the IRA or is it intelligence gathering? Read the book, McGartland has distanced himself from the recent film. Only recently we have had a Catholic PSNI Officer shot dead by dissident Republicans and just last weekend another attacked in Derry / Londonderry and one shot last year whilst leaving his kids to school and another with an under cover car bomb - nothing whatsoever to do with collusion and everything to do with terrorism and intimidating, maiming and killing Police Officers, especially Catholic ones! Talk of `death squads and collusion` are based on part truth and part myth. A look at the University of Ulster CAIN website which deals with `The Troubles` and is maintained by faculty members of the University from both communites / traditions in NI show that the Provos and their ilk were responsible for 66% of all deaths in the Troubles killing about 2500, Loyalists killed about 1200 and the Security Services ( RUC, Army & Ulster Defence Regiment (locally raised and posted British Army Regiment) were responsible for killing about 300 people, mostly terrorists ) There were many tragedies along the way and the security services were not perfect but them kept the line between peace and outright civil war.
And just for the record the RUC was not disbanded, the official title deeds of the Northern Ireland Constabulary is the "Police Service of Northern Ireland incorporating the Royal Ulster Constabulary" and the RUC / all members were awarded the George Cross by HM Queen Elizabeth!
The same is true for many NI government bodies, the Job Centre and Unemployment offices are separate as opposed to the single place on Uk mainland and separate from the UK mainland counterparts as is the DVLNI for car registrations and car road tax ( NI has different Number Plate format ) as to collussion the British Intelligence and Security Agencies had agents in ALL the paramilitaries and those agents committed crimes whilst undercover - very grey area!
