Setting default apps
"> Any link in email or another app therefore opens in Safari, even when Chrome is present.
The Android approach is to present the user a choice every time a relevant link or file is tapped... ie, click a link, and asked which browser to use. Is there any way to set a 'default action' in Android?"
Either click the checkbox for "always use" or click the "always use" or "this time only" button, depending on how old a verzion of Android you're using. IIRC the latter method is valid for ICS and later.
Re: Look, lets sort this out...
Now that's a reality show I'd actually watch.
4/1?
"Agreed - 4/1 come late this year? It's not like we've never seen boffins pulling our collective legs before after all..."
What does the 4th of January have to do with anything?
Re: RAM issue
Jelly Bean (in the form of CyanogenMod 10) runs quite nicely on my creaky old Galaxy S.
How about Retina TV. Oh, wait…
Re: Dear Tim Cook,
Anyone who's been using Apple kit for any length of time knows that you never buy any 1st gen Apple device anyway; you always wait for rev.2 kit.
Re: hope it's true
No need to queue overnight if Ebuyer send them out a week early again like they did with the N7.
Re: Optional @John 104
Last time I checked he's not a US citizen, so how the fuck can he be a traitor?
Re: HTML5 is actually a mistake
Good grief! Do you actually talk like that?

Thank you, Dr Spengler.
Re: Buy an old N64 just for this? Naah
“I’d buy an N64 just for Goldeneye, so if i can grab this game for 15 quid too, massive bonus.”
You spelled “Perfect Dark” incorrectly. ;-)

Are you 12 years old or something?
Re: "Soon" ?
Flash may be back, but it’s not available for devices running Jelly Bean.
Re: google groupies, hankies to the ready!
Didn’t have the balls to post under your username then?
Re: I'm beginning to like the BOFH solution
"We take representatives from Apple and Samsung, and while we're at it, representatives from the Patent office and other litigious patent holders. We lock them in a room with a half brick each and declare the last man standing as the winner…”
…and then engage the halon system.
Re: Got mine last friday (13th)
Got mine from Ebuyer last week as well. There are 162 left when I ordered mine.
I'll take the chihuahuas please
My pet rats could do with a light snack.
Oh fuck off, Apple!
(posted from my MacBook)
Wow! A whole 5 days' training?
That should prevent any mistakes, right?
One of my favourite games on the Amstrad CPC
I loved this game, although I never managed to complete it.
Takes "damn you, autocorrect!" to a whole new level.
Speedx 3D also deserves a mention
Another great tunnel racer is Speedx 3D.

Yes, I've been playing with it (ooo-err!) for a couple of hours now. It's definitely an improvement over Honeycomb. The stock browser is much better and scrolls nicely without the annoying tiling that the HC browser does. The typing lag in the browser seems to be gone as well. Overall, it's a great update.
To be fair…
…they seem to have been quite good at providing firmware updates for the Blu-ray player I have (BDP-S370) and haven't removed any functionality, instead adding extra IPTV options.

Re: It's a TRON fanboy's wet dream!
You say that like it's a bad thing. ;-)
@bob's hamster
"although when my Virgin connection was down last week I couldn't even watch pre-recorded tv"
Actually you can. Rather than pressing "OK on a programme in your recordings (which, as you've found, doesn't work as it can't bring up the info page to play the programme) just highlight the programme and press "Play" and it'll play just fine.
Not hard to figure out.
Other than the 21:9 set the screen sizes of the other models are easy enough to figure out by reading the model numbers.

I have an iPod Touch and an Asus Transformer...
...where does that put me on the weirdometer?
Difference in running time
Probably due to the BD versions being 24fps and the PAL DVDs being 25fps.
Belgium!
That is all.
Re: Kindle Feedback
Yes I did. Here's the reply I received:
Hello,
Thanks for writing about the Screen saver pictures on Kindle 3.
We're regularly working on improvements to your Kindle experience. I've let the Kindle team know you're interested in loading custom standby pictures to kindle 3 in the future.
Customer feedback like yours helps us continue to improve the service we provide, and we're glad you took time to write to us. The Kindle Team will carefully review your suggestions.
Thanks for your interest in Kindle.
Oops!
Meant to add a second link. This is the thread where the cause of the problem was identified, with pics to show what's happening. See page 8 onwards for pics.

SD picture problems
Going from the posts on the VM forums it seems that the SD upscaling problems are due to TiVo assuming that PAL SD broadcasts are interlaced in the same order as NTSC ones, so the line order is swapped. VM have stated that they're waiting for a firmware update to fix the issue.

Re: Huge border
We had a couple of iPads at my last job. Most people held it with their fingers curled round the edge. The large border prevents accidental input on the touchscreen.
Composite vs Scart
The problem with using composite is that you don't get any widescreen signalling like you do with Scart so you have to manually tell your TV whether the disc you're playing is 16:9 or 4:3.
Forget page numbers…
…I just want to be able to load my own standby screens without jailbreaking my Kindle. It's just screaming for a "Don't Panic" standby screen.
I think they're referring to the sub-title
"Dogs can survive anything but the US Postal Service"
Just the PS3?
Or does this also mean it'll come to Sony's internet-connected TVs and Blu-ray players?
LG GS101
Fantastic phone. Got one for my Mum and she loves it as it's nice and simple with large, easy to read numbers. Can't complain about the price either.
Looks perfect
Been meaning to get a mobile for my Mum and this one fits the bill perfectly. Not too small, nice big well-spaced buttons and an attractive price.
See if you can find any chicken bones...
...it might be a Quagaar warship.
(mine's the one with the bazookoid in the pocket)
I doubt I'll be the first to post this…
Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherfucking maggots on this motherfucking plane!
Windows version ain't too bad either…
Even the Windows version is fairly snappy (on XP via VMWare Fusion).
I must be one of the lucky ones…
So far Safari 5 has behaved impeccably for me. Still haven't decided if it's worth switching permanently from Firefox yet but I'm willing to give it a few more days (mind you, if it hadn't been for the quick appearance of an AdBlock extension I'd be back on Firefox already).

So does that means you'll have to zap your own post? Oh and then this one. *headsplode*
