Symbian Titanic heading for iceberg

Double standards

Eh? So only working on Windows is a massive fail, but only working on Mac (XCode) isn't? Double standards. Anyway, massive effort is going into making them work on Linux too. For Nokia this was never a priority - for Symbian it most definitely is.

Symbian shares the source

Android < Symbian

It's really surprising that you should say Symbian is now 'only as open as Android' in light of your headline article. Google obviously don't care about open source unless it exactly suits their needs.

(Disclosure: I work for the Symbian Foundation)

Samsung retracts Symbian support snub

brendand

Well put

But for the same reason that their statement yesterday wasn't a 'ringing endorsement', the statement reported on wednesday wasn't 'divorcing','dropping','dumping' or 'giving up', or any of the other terms used in the blogosphere. All the Samsung exec probably said was that they have no Symbian phones slated for 2010.

FAIL

Hm

Can I just say that the UKBA must be *the* number one laziest organisation in the history of the planet. I can't imagine how they must work internally, although I'm convinced that the only way they could end up operating in the timescales that they do is by continiously and deliberately ignoring matters.

UK border control can't count

brendand

tell me about it

My wife is applying for a EU Family Permit (me being Irish and her being Indian) EU LAW says that they MUST process these cases in 6 months. It has now been 11 and they have told us the application should be finished this month. It had better be, or I will definitely be suing them for violation of community law.

Dubious

So the device polled were ones that had AV software installed on them? That's a bit like polling a doctors office to find swine flu infection rates, if you know what I mean.
