Vertex 3?

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HD-071-OC&groupid=701&catid=14&subcat=1427

When i pre-orderd these they were cheaper than some of the other SSD at the same capacity and twice the speed.... weird that its not mentioned... it should be at the one spot...

But due to ocz stock delivery problems i decided that i would change my order of 2 of these to 1 240gb vertex 3. i have had it running for a week now, not a single problem and its blisteringly quick.

*the price of other SSD's has dropped since the arrival of vertex 3, this alone should make it top right? cheaper SSD's for everyone!

This App is really good and straight forward.

Brilliant App for home users, the ability to view where your phone works great, problem is if your other half gets hold of your BB ID, they will be able to find out where you are hahah. i got it on Monday, it is about time that they have released something like this for BB users. but unfortunately for my friend who got mugged two weeks ago and his blackberry stolen is no help to his lost BB.

i think the PSP2 will take off BIGTIME.

COD multi player on the move will shift alot of these, thats just 1 game.

With other games coming out for it also, i cant see it not catching on.

P.S. i think the PSP2 will take off BIGTIME.

I wouldn't listen to young, being a iOS app dev. ofcourse he would say portable gaming is dead. he wants people to use his apps that lack REAL gaming functionality. Hes just anoyed that he may have to create another COD - Unlocks app for the PSP2 version of COD.

Vodafone's network knackered by thieves

SPoF

Yes it was funny!

<quote>

I now have an entire work force with no mobile communications. Does the phrase "single point of failure" spring to mind

</quote>

But

<quote>

Yes, it does... why would a company so clearly reliant on mobile comms have all their staff using a single mobile network??? Surely a mixture of vodafone, o2, t-mobile, orange & 3 would be more appropriate for your company??

</quote>

A mixture wouldn't work! and here is why.

If a large company uses mobile Telecoms, they will stick to one provider because they need to keep costs down, having multiple contracts with different providers wouldn't work as the company would not benefit from free calls to the same network or the (friends and family) business type perks.

Thunderbolt: A new way to hack Macs

Select * From Handle
IT Angle

Can we stop calling it thunderbolt?

i know that apple have named it "thunderbolt" but its just gonna cause confusion, since its actually called/codenamed "Light Peak" by intel.

Here is 2 other reasons why the name should be dropped.

1. the name "thunderbolt" to me, reminds me of a youtube video of a bunch of larpers in some woods throwing bean bags at each other shouting "thunderbolt".... (bad enuff eh?)

2. the symbol to me looks like a hazard "do not touch - High voltage" warning sign. which is gonna cause confusion if say, i bought my grandma one. (me - "gran just stick the device into the thunderbolt socket!" Gran- "im not goin anywhere near that, i may get a shock! look its got a warning sign!")

Apple plots iPad 2 production reduction

OR?

it could just be that they didn't sell as many as they were letting on?

(Apple staff - "sorry you cant buy this item its out of stock at the moment please pre-order one for when they arrives" strangle the supply tactic to make people want the item more)

I have only ever seen one of these items out in wild! which makes me believe that it was just a load of apple media hype.

So this time round they know more about the market for tablet items and reduced the stock order.

CoD: Black Ops 'not fit for purpose', fans claim

Select * From Handle
FAIL

I have had all of these problems on PS3.

I would like a refund for my call of duty and here is why.

1. me and my bro both play it, i have a PS3/HD TV, HDMI cable'd up running at its best resolution with an ethernet cable not wireless.

My brother has the same TV but uses an Xbox 360 HDMI'd up.

Their is a huge very noticeable difference in the graphics between the PS3 and Xbox 360! I cant play the groundwar (the multiplayer option with the most amount of players) option because the gameplay becomes so choppy. On the 360 he doesnt have this problem, and no theirs nothing wrong with my settings on PS3.

2 Server disconection/host migrations happens so much i sometimes cant complete contracts because i havnt actually got to the end of a match in a span of 1 hour...

3. sometimes when connecting to a server it will just freeze once its loaded. you cant press any buttons to unfreeze the console. the only thing u can do is press the PS button and click "quit game" which forces the PS3 to RESTART as it cant exit from COD.

4. i have also had it crash a few times during gameplay which was also anoying.

5. joining games with your friends is also anoying as it doesnt always work and sometimes when u are in a party of 4 people 1 of them wont be connected to the server... forcing us all to leave and start again...

I would say it is fit for sale though but activation need to fix the bugs faster they have failed miserably at this, but i also would say if people would like a refund they should be able to get one.

Italy sues Microsoft for box-bundling bungling

Select * From Handle
IT Angle

This has always confused me when it comes to the "Microsoft Tax"

Ok i can see that when buying a laptop it maybe a little annoying as its pretty hard to get hold of a laptop without windows installed.

My confusion though lies with desktops. i just don't understand the logic behind a person who is savvy enuff to install other OS's. What i mean is why did they buy a "PC world"(or whatever?) desktop computer with the intent to put a different OS on it and try get a refund from Microsoft, when if they went online they could get a system without an OS?

Am i the only one who thinks its a really stupid way to go about things?

Mouse - yes thats a stupid problem.

Price? - Thinking £2500 on a mac pro? why not build a PC yaself which ya cant do with mac OS? for £2500 you can get a rig that will wipe the spots off a mac pro....

Program Compatability? - their are alot more programs that run on windows...

the fact that Apple lie. (well so do microsoft but not to the same extent.) what i mean by this is that i have already seen somone post on this thread that you have to run AV on windows. YOU ALSO HAVE TO RUN AV ON MAC... you sir are stupid if you think macs are impervius to viruses just cos apple say so...

Well it wont b long for ssd/hdd to be a thing of the past.

if you visit the OCZ website and have a look at their SSD tech you will see what i mean. i like the idea of PCI SSD even though it would mean giving up a PCI slot for storage. the read write speeds are also awsome. their top of the range 2TB SSD which will set u back a hefty £7k is a bit pricy but if tech like this were to get cheaper why would anyone by a hybrid or HDD? it would also be nice for MOBO manufactures to incorp a solid state boot partition on their mobos, would make for an interesting future.

Data Charges

for this i will use o2 to explain. cos i dont know the data charges for other phone companies but im asuming they will be similar.

with o2 the data charges are:

£3 per MB used in the EU.

and

£6 per MB used out of the EU.

photos taken can be anything upto 10mb possibly more, depending on what ress your camera is set to. and lets face it we would all want to take the most clearest, awsome picture to send as a postcard.

i will use 3MB for this explaination.

3x£3 =£9

£9+99p= £9.99

£9.99 for a postcard in EU

3x£6= £18

£18+£1.49= £19.49

£19.49 for a postcard out of EU

So if you use this app find a WiFi spot. if you cant find one you maybe spanked for charges.

you maybe spanked for charges anyway if you are going to use a smartphone abroad.

Microsoft finally debuts Euro-choose-a-browser screen

Select * From Handle
Thumb Down

For the Rtards that cant use a computer...

This whole browser thing is aload of tosh.

i work in IT and yeah im pro microsoft...

im not saying i dont like linux OS's or Apple, but microsoft rules the rust when it comes to OS..

all this browser choice thing is going to do is make my phone ring constant when idiots click on another browser, and then wonder's why their page doesnt display correctly..

my fav browser is firefox all the way and my opinion is if you dont like I.E. download another browser? its not hard. this program they have added also slows the loading screen of windows "great".

I.E. is better than all browsers though when it comes to businesses as it can be controlled by AD.

any of you nay sayers know of a browser you can restrict at logon?

and my final point.

where is the browser choice on MAC's and linux? cos i think i would like I.E. instead of that safari noncense.

at the end of the day the browser choise is their for idiots who dont know how to use PC's just like apple is their for people who cant work windows...

Win7 Problems i have had

I have been testing Win7 at work for the last few weeks.

Compaired to vista and XP it out proforms both.

the spec of the pc i was testing on was somet like:

P4-3ghz

512mb DDR Ram

7.2k HDD

Vista as you may have guessed didnt work well atall on that spec of pc.

XP ran fine and was fairly responsive, but with most of the service packs and winupdates now running on XP it was hiting the 512mb ram usage fairly easy.

but shockinly Win7 Ran better than XP.

most programs once installed loaded up faster than xp.

the only problems i have had with Win7 is actualy installing programs. i have run them and the computer seems to sit their like its doing nothing, ram and CPU usage seemed to be indicating that nothing was happening.

After about a min the installer would kick into life.

This problem was just unique to that computer, i then tryed Win7 on a much faster Rig with the same results.

i think microsoft should address this problem atleast befor releasing Win7.

But that said Win7 is definatle a winner proformance wise.

and yes i was a fan of vista. but that is only because i have a pc that is capable of running it well.

O2 dongle's

I did some research about a year ago into the pricing of these usb modems with O2 mobile internet. Not sure if the figures are the same today.

Usage pricing over the limit:

10p per MB

Using the dongle abroad, limits dont even apply.

its £6 per MB

So one 10MB e-mail will cost you around £60

Now with the firmware updates, 7.2meg BB you can go over the limit alot quicker :D

Say bye to your beer tokens!
