Chinese go beyond binary with ternary molecule

Thumb Down

Will never happen

Nobody is going to run 3-logic computers. Not now, not in a 1000 years.

Even if some development makes 3-logic hardware attractive, it would be WAY WAY easier to just ignore and remove the 3rd state then to deal with 3-logic.

By the time someone comes up with a good 3-logic design, there will be a faster 2-logic machine, making 3-logic forever obsolete.

4-logic or 8-logic might be nice though.....

Compatibility

@idasben

The difference is that if you use Googe Docs as your cloud storage, you can freely cooperate with anyone using OOo, or working from any non-Redmond-approved platforms (ARM netbooks).

Apple misses self-imposed Windows 7 boot camp deadline

WTF?

Is this a problem?

Wait, what?

Vista 64 already supported EFI so support should be there in Win7-64 too. That means you don't need Bootcamp and can just use the EFI to multiboot, right?

If you dont need XP or any 32 bit Windows version, you don't need Bootcamp or any kind of faked BIOS.

Microsoft promises 'open' Bing strategy

Lots and lots of cash

MS is spending hundreds of millions here just to invade Googles cash cow territory.

The cashback, the commercials and more and now these cute toys. It doesn't seem to get them anywhere though. Bing seems to already have peaked; http://marketshare.hitslink.com/search-engine-market-share.aspx?qprid=5

Ms is just not inventive enough to take on Google.

Intel lampooned by Nvidia toons

Fools

I can not understand why they would go out of their way to piss off Intel.

They obviously don't like AMD either because of ....... well.....ATI.

Is Nvidia actually trying to get cornered in the market? Or do they have some super-secret pact with the ARM manufacturers or something?

Linux: More contributors, more code

Competition?

Has MS the breath to compete with this in the long run? Seems not.

They are in danger now to completely lose their smartphone OS market share to others, including Linux based solutions.

Windows on servers is as weak as it ever was.

Their final holdout, the desktop, is still going strong, but they are losing that, just very very slowly..

If they do not change their business model, MS's core business will end up to be where Linux can not go. The DRM world of consoles.

That is... if DRM won't completely die somewhere along the way....

Can't say I blame them

Can't say I blame them.

How big is the pool of people who are content with a dead platform without the luxury of Wine or VMWare and NEED the newest CS?

Desperate move?

Here is my speculation;

Bing is failing miserably and MS is so desperate to increase it's market share they are prepared to throw a lot of cash at Yahoo to buy it's market share.

I base this on 2 things:

1. The last semi-reliable market share figures I have seen suggest that Bing has only 0.5 to 1% more market share then Live+MSN had before the launch. You have to keep in mind that Bing had a lot of press coverage and there was (is?) a big marketing campaign.

2. This Yahoo deal seems to have been forged AFTER the introduction of Bing, as a contingency plan.
