Apple Oz offers refunds for confused 4G iPad owners
Oz regulator to Apple: Don’t call it 4G if you can’t connect
So, they can advertise that the Siri is a good thing that does stuff it can't do in the UK in the UK and the ASA rolls over and says "Meh. What did you expect? Your expectations were too high."
They do a similar thing in Oz, "Look at this feature we have! You can't use it, but we have it!" and Oz says "Oi! You! NO!"
From this, I can draw the conclusion that the ASA needs to get a backbone.

This will save money...
They are transferring the staff.
Bob is getting £X/hour from LFB for the job.
Bob is getting moved to Capita, presumably under similar pay (a drastic pay cut would lead to much employment law deabte)
LFB have to pay Capita for the service provided.
Due to this extra tier, LFB would need to pay more, since they are indirectly paying Bob £Y/hour, and Capita are needing to make some markup on this as well.
I can't understand how this saves money.

Apple to kick start 'iTV' production in Q2
STOP!!! You're all wrong!
The debate about ITV's name is wrong.
Apple's lawyers can PROVE that they had the name first, therefore Independent Television will have to cease trading under that name immediately.
In a year's time when the next version comes out, there will be no problems with the ITV2, since Independent Television Two will have already been renamed the previous year (this year) to a name which Apple did not prove it already have the rights to.

The one shock is you put in "Metropolitan Police Service" and get out "Metropolitan Police Trading Service".
I figured searching for a more accurate represntation of the name would give better reuslts.

Crap PINs give wallet thieves 1-in-11 jackpot shot
My Halifax card years back had some paper that said that you could use any PIN except 0000 and 9999.
The downside to removing the top X guessable ones:
0000,1111,....
0123,1234,....
9876,8765,....
is that the number of available numbers diminishes. This gives marginally better odds for guessing.
British Medical Association calls for long, slow rollout of NHS 111
Re: 101 / 111
I was going to ask that.
What'll happen to Vodafone voicemail?
SOMEBODY THINK OF THE VOICEMAIL!!!
Possibly merging 111 and NHS Redirect into one thing would be a good thing?
Then merging the 111 and 101 into 101?
Add an extra menu at the start of 101:
Currently I get: "Thank you for calling 101. For Hampshire Police, please hodl the line. For another service, press 1. For Sussex Police, press 1. For Surrey Police, press 2, etc...."
New menu:
For Police, press 1. -> For Hampshire Police, please hold the line. For Sussex, press 1
For Ambulance, press 2. -> For South Central Ambulance Service, please hold the line. For South East Coast Ambulance Service, press 1
For Fire Services, press 3. -> For Hampshire Fire & Rescue...
You get the idea.

Satnav blunders blamed for £200m damages
Re: Re: Re: Turn Right!
My old Satnav (Navsure) had a few great ideas. After the road to the M6 was closed, and trigger signs were set up diverting to the next junction (badly, the square turned to a circle for a short while), Mr Navsure got the idea that just before we crossed the M6, I do a left turn, then I could join the motorway.
Yes, there was a road going that way, but it was through Sandbach MSA!
I will often divert from the M3 to M27 E/B via Rownhams MSA and turn again at J3.
Mr Navsure had a better idea... Turn left just before the petrol station, turn right onto Rownhams Lane, turn right again, then rejoin the motorway. That'd really annoy Roadchef if everyone did that!
