Re: Installed and joined Team El_Reg
Same here, machine is far too powerful for just pr0n so this gets the cobwebs out of the fans.
Might get the old Dell laptop to do its bit shortly. Can sit around it and toast marshmallows later.

Three points should make it easy.
Except that any amount of wind is going to alter the readings considerably. Turbulent wind like you'd get near the airport buildings would probably give wildly oscillating readings, and a steady wind would give significant amounts of lift and/or other pressures over the tail.
Assuming you have control over where the fuel and hold baggage is then you could have seat sensors that can distinguish between empty, child, adult and lard-arse, and work out from that whether anything has gone awry. At great expense.
The original images taken by the monkey would most likely have been RAW files.
Slater then went through these discarding all the junk, noticed one or more that looked promising, and he would then have used Lightroom (or whatever) to work with that RAW file to create the final image. That final step probably involved cropping, sharpening, setting the colour balance exactly right, and probably some minor cloning to get rid of sensor dust spots, monkey spit etc.
The monkey pressed the button, but Slater made that image.
In the previous month's collection we had KB2821895, which made a complete mess of things.

Title intentional BTW.
The propulsion is steerable, so it can move the bottom end a bit to keep the top end pointing up. Just like balancing a broomstick on your hand - if you get it right then you can stand the broomstick there and move your hand to keep it straight. Until you get it wrong of course. That's what the computer is for.
I felt compelled to go and see what sites are using this picture with the incorrect attribution, and already quite a few have had comments added from readers of this article. Some by Andrej too, although I'm not sure he is being assertive enough - if I was the true author I'd probably be using stronger language.
I'm still puzzled. From their own instructions:
5) Let the phone inside a -15 degree Celsius freezer for about 60 minutes.
6) After an hour, the phone temperature should be below 10 degree.
Yes, I'd expect a frozen frosticle after an hour.
But then they show a thermometer with a reading of 8 degrees...
I've only seen the Start screen after boot, and then I click on the desktop tile and forget about it - I haven't even been back to tidy up all the junk on the Start screen. If I sleep or hibernate with the desktop open then that's where it wakes up to.
My laptop screen and separate monitor have different backgrounds and both desktops have a task bar, which I like. Another laptop syncs to the same settings, which is kind of potentially useful but I'm not sure about that yet.
Keyboard shortcuts like Win-X for a bunch of important stuff like Control Panel, Task Manager, Event Viewer and even an administrator version of Command Prompt is handy. In fact the Windows key gets much more use now for a variety of shortcuts.
Overall I'm finding it an improvement over 7, except for the stupid TIFKAM screen which I just don't use. Neither am I interested in the new full-screen apps, I use real hairy-chested programs like Photoshop, Hugin, AfterShot Pro and so on. So 7 did all that, but 8 seems faster and seems to have done away with a few glitches.
Very strange seeing this discussion - it had never ever occurred to me that it could be pronounced 'jif'. Having worked as a software developer since 1979 (UK multinational) I have never heard the 'j' version. Not once - I'd remember if someone had said that, because, well, it's wrong... :)
Big new airship carrying many tons of HTC Desires and iPads arrives at the cargo depot. Lots of pallets unloaded. Airship (now considerably lighter) shoots up to 10 thousand feet.
Or will they swap ballast ? What could we send back to the Far East ?
This issue could be a problem with the previously-mentioned military variant - a tank drives off the ramp and the thing heads for the sky...
Or do they re-compress some gas from the flotation bags to lose some of the lift ?
