Hate the BlackBerry Z10 and Passport? How about this dusty old flashback instead?

Mussie (Ed)

Our organisation continues to use old blackberrys, as part of my position I support and I administer these devices, they can be brilliant and secure their down fall is build quality, I am on my 5th device in two years, one of those was broken by a fall (that frankly would have annihilated an IPhone but only managed to shatter the screen on my BB) the rest have failed, currently my onscreen keyboard will not work and my phone will randomly select speaker in the middle of a call and so on.

I could swap it for another one but I just can’t be bothered anymore.

If they fixed these issues they would have been the perfect business phone.

MOM: CHEAP Mars ship got it right first time. Nice one, India

Mussie (Ed)

Well Done But...

You cant tell me that all the work done before hand did not help with this mission, it an impressive feat yes and Kudos to the indian space agency, but all the first time comments well its like telling me that a commercial airline pilot is better than a test pilot cause the commercial pilot never bailed and crashed an aircraft...

Samsung Galaxy S5 fingerprint scanner hacked in just 4 DAYS

Mussie (Ed)

Why not use multiple factor authentication

Finger Print

Facial Recognition (i don’t know if it can be done but 3D facial recognition taking into account the sides of the face by turning your head)

A voice phrase (easily recorded but useless by itself when combined with the above)

Would make sense to me

The Reg's desert XP-ocalypse aversion plan revealed

Mussie (Ed)

Useful

Greenshot an excellent (free) prgram for taking and editing screenies (like Snaggit) useful for making doco ect.

Drivers for connecting the most common phones for accessing photos (maybe not viable as there are so many models)

The latest drivers/software for any printers they are using, I prefer the non bloat where versions when i can get them.

Also maybe put a folder on the "all users"/public desktop with some very basic tools like batch files that show the system IP address,

****************** Show IP Address Batch******************

@echo off

ipconfig/all |find "IPv4 Address"

pause

exit

****************************************************************

In that folder there you should have important links for instance I use logmein to assist with my remote computers, so i have a link to the client access logmein webpage which the user has to go to for me to access their machine.

EXPOSED: bizarre quantum sibling LOVE TRIANGLE

Mussie (Ed)

Um....

So the following is wrong ?

Take Particles A and B

Entangle them

Move them apart

Change the "Spin" on particle A

Particle B "Spin" also changes at the same instant

Is this (admittedly super simplified) what happens with quantum entanglement ?

Turnbull waters down broadband black spot fix promise

Mussie (Ed)

Would live to know

Would live to know which polly (or cousin, brother, sister ect of a polly) is getting their pockets lined in this deal...

I honestly beleieve that our wonderful leaders have no idea how sparse and large the country they run is.

Wirless broadband is a farse the only provider that works outside of metro is Telstra and the best bang for buck is $50 for 3GB. mind you Its faster than my ADSL 2+ which runs between 9 and 22 Mbps the LTE at my house will hit 44Mbps late at night.

EDIT: BTW Telstra charges $2500 a GB when you exceed your limit (not a typo) we had one guy run up a $300,000 bill on his 4G.

Mathematicians spark debate with 13 GB proof for Erdős problem

Mussie (Ed)

Speaking in stoopid

Just to put this in terms i fully understand the question is:

If we have an infinte number of pulses

Each pulse randomly + or -

And we had the ability to calculate the net result (of an infinte number)

We would have a significant number of either + or - at the end

Is that what we are trying to dettermine here ?

Google warns Glass wearers: Quit being 'CREEPY GLASSHOLES'

Mussie (Ed)

cant wait

I was at the beach one day and caught some female tourist taking sneaky pics of my daughter, in the end i confronted her and told her to stop or her camera was going for a swim (I should have called the cops).

Google glasses is a cool idea but the world being full of dickheads it will inevitably be seen as a tool for perverts and wankers.

And sooner or later someone is going to end up missing a few front teeth.

It might not happen over night but as sure as shit it will happen.

RIM adds 15,000 new BlackBerry 10 apps in one weekend

Mussie (Ed)
Thumb Down

I use a black berry for work.

It is without a doubt the most frustrating POS I have ever had to use.

- Answer a call suddenly its on speaker

- Try to answer a call and it wont

press the m key get the n (fat fingers ues but for the love of god after three attempts and carefully watching where i am pressing i still get an n I know i am pressing the m

- Touch screens that think your touching when your not or the opposite

- Language changes when you hit the space

- media players that wont...

I could go on.

Rim needs to fix the usability of the device.

But its too late for my company we have stopped buying them and wont be going back
