How is this any better than simply dragging images from your Google image search into the compose window in Gmail? I wonder how much time they wasted coding this "feature"

Japanese phones have had face recognition for many years now, this is nothing new. In fact, some Japanese phones use face recognition to unlock your phone instead of the traditional "type in your PIN" feature we typically use.

There's also an app on the iPhone app store that will identify books from a photo of the cover. (no barcode required) You can even have the app take you straight to Amazon to buy your own copy once it's identified the book.

The US patent office is rubbish. How many billions of dollars do companies waste every year going to court over ridiculous patents?

I use an app on the iPhone (running 3.0) called Trails for mountain biking routes. So far it's been very accurate for trips of up to 80 miles from home. Haven't used Google Maps much though.

Anyone else bored of these iPhone stories? Millions have been sold, doubtless some will develop issues. Seems like these stories are published just so that Fanbois and Haters can have a platform to sling mud at each other.

A quick browse on some HTC forums and I see threads such as "touch screen frozen", "all my pictures were lost", "my phone died". Funny how none of these are newsworthy.

Why? You may want to trim it differently at a later date, especially if you can do more accurate trimming on a computer. Haven't you ever cropped a photo and kept the original in case you want to crop differently, or apply some effect?

Fascinating how Apple add these useful features but people go and moan about them. Having a tough day at work or what?

forum pages?

Since when has a count of forum pages been any sort of measure about a problem? Two people could argue for 24 pages while 20 people post short messages on one page.

Apple has sold, what, somewhere over a million of the 3GS phones, so what percentage have had this yellowish screen problem? C'mon Reg, this is lazy journalism.
