My dad's just had an ICD fitted
the docs programmed it using what looked to me like a bluetooth receiver plugged into a PC
The ICD communicates with a "box" plugged into the phone line at home so it can dial back to the hospital info about how he is.
It also has a radio transmitter so if i "goes off" when hes out and about, the hospital monitoring station are aware and will contact him to see if all is ok
Ive got a Vod Sure Signal.
Takes about 2 days if powered cycled to sync up and be ready, and then whilst sat there my phone will switch between the sure signal and teh mobile network going from full signal to hardly any signal.
Just how much is paid for these wayleaves ?
And now, the Register is suddenly full of International Law experts, experts of both foreign and domestic affairs, and by all accounts people who know everything there is to know about some guy who runs a website publishing other peoples crap
anyway, on with the IT.
Are Ofcom taking the piss ?
Universal Service Obligation
Provision of a connection capable of functional internet access
"Users should be able to expect connection speeds of at least 28.8 kbit/s"
What year are we actally in ?
how on earth do you get on these trials ?
LOL. nuff said.
Mine ran warm and connx dropped out.
I mounted it on the wall using the 2 keyhole screw holes on the back. worked fine after that.
Kelly (the company not the guy) came round before crimbo and replaced it. I asked him why they were replacing it, and he told me its to make it work faster !!
like the one from Spacballs !!!
that was obviously meant to say SpacEballs ... :)
anyone know how to get on the trials ?
everyone's an expert ....
I presume all of you lot are fully qualified carrier-trained telephony network engineers ?
No, im not up to "no good".
As i've said, if your NOT up to no good, wheres the issue.
why not ?
And why shouldn't people have to give their details to get a pre-paid phone ?
Surely the operators at least would want to know WHO is using THEIR network.
This whole debate about anonymity astounds me.
If you aint up to no good - whats the issue ?
£2000 a day ??
jesus, i need to move to Hays...
what a load of nonsense
its clear for anyone with a brain to see that Windows isn't going anywhere any time soon. I like Windows, its easy to manage (IMHO) (and I look after around 4000 users of all differing abilities). I like Linux too, but at the end of the day, I am a technical person. My dad has trouble finding the power button on his PC, never mind giving him an unfamiliar OS, with unfamiliar software to use. At the end of the day, its simple, Windows is familiar. Until people either take a leap and use something else, of Microsoft stop making Windows and associated software familiar, people will and will keep on using it.
To infinity and beyond ...
I have BT Infinity (FTTC), and i have to say its very very good.
I get around 37Mbit/s pretty much consistently.
I'd highly recommend it to anyone if its available in your area. Much better than standard ADSL and also doesn't come with VM's nasty STM.
I don't get it...
Why shouldn't Google favour its own services ?
if you don't want to see it, don't use Google.
I don't see what the issue is. when you shop in Tesco, they don't show adverts for Asda do they.
CHOICE is the name of the game.
I love Google. They give me free email, free storage, free maps, free searches etc etc
English empire ????
Should that not read BRITISH empire ?!
everyone's an expert
Seems to me like it's fair game.
As far as I can see, wikileaks leaks shit to the world, and now that world has turned on it's head and Assange and his mega-corp-wanna-be is being served some of their own medicine.
I can hardly see a day when he is going to be sat in court facing charges of rape, more so of harming the public interest with the materials leaked to the masses.
Let's just sit back and see what money can buy, or should I say WHO money can buy.
Server Room in a basement ??
Server room in a basement, next to a river ???
"DNA samples are retained for up to three years, with scope for an extension on application to a Sheriff."
Sheriff? ????? WTF
I dont get it.
all you knobs out there moaning about Google's done this, Google's done that, oh i dont want my front garden on streetview, and now i have to use my mobile number for a free email account.
Its easy... DONT USE FUCKING GOOGLE
no one is forcing you to, there no compelling reason. there are literally thousands of email providers, or as one of you said, run your oen if your porn filled, viagra advertising, daily horoscope emails are that precious and private to YOU.
Get on with life - people are dying in the world.
Me, I love Google. Its great. Its fast, and they give it me for free.
