The writers of TFA managed to get the same information in your post across (to those of us with decent reading comprehension) in two sentences. It took you an entire post.
I guess that's why they are writing for El Reg, and you are writing comments.
That is just about a genius idea. But I would be inclined, rather than something goofy like "Mr Bunny", to go with something humiliating like "Bed Wetter #3"; it may be possible to combine the two, EG: "Impotent Bunny-fiddler".
Making their Media Name part of the punishment for going on a rampage seems like a very fitting (additional) punishment - and may even help with rehabilitation, when possible.
El Reg published a (rather better written) article on this two days ago. Why are we getting a reprint from The Conversation - with a lower information content?

Let's see.. according to current trends in anglophonic countries, I would say that the number of criminals in a city of 100,000 would be somewhere in the area of 99,900. The number of serious criminals (IE, kingpins, gang leaders, Bernie Madoff...) would be about 3 or 4.
But might it be a good idea to have a "known good" or "gold" copy of the download held in a secure non-web-facing store (in a BLOB in a back-end database, or a heavily fire-walled FTP server) and have the web site check that its cached version is the same as the "gold" version on a daily, or hourly basis?
Or, you know, secure their web server so that bad actors can't arbitrarily change the software available on it.
Sure, you can send unreadable messages, either using an One Time Pad (OTP), or just sending gibberish. But the point of a message is to be read; you just want to ensure that the right person, and only the right person, can read them - that's the hard part.
So you use an OTP for which the designated recipient has the key, the hard part is to make sure that no-one else has the key, the very hard part is getting the key to the intended recipient, with minimal chance for interception, without meeting face-to-face.
In TFA it mentions that FB is light in Female, Hispanic and African-American workers. Fair enough. It then goes on to talk about the preponderance of White, Male workers. Ie: Everyone else.
What about the Asian contingent? Did they get lumped in as "White" or were those numbers appropriate, and so got left out?
And if it's not a significant sum, then (as mentioned above) Small claims court would be a very good option. Not as much of a hit on HP (they will have to pay out, but the legal costs won't hit them as hard), but more rewarding (and a higher probability of success/settlement) for the plaintiffs - especially as the Class Action lawyers won't eat 3/4 of what HP pays out.
I won't argue that training is valuable - My employers have greatly valued the training I've paid for. And they encourage me to get more. Provided I don't miss too much time getting it (although, I can save up a week of vacation time and use that to cover the days missed going to a class) and am willing to pay for it all out-of-pocket.
Oh, and also, I won't get a pay raise for getting training because "Training is a benefit we offer"
The probably used the word "Metastable" and when asked "What does that mean" they answered: "It's stable for now, but a small change would make it unstable quickly" And that's what got reported.
A house of cards is metastable, if nothing mucks with it, it will stand indefinitly, but a very small change (bump the table, wind blows, anything more energetic than a harsh look...) and it becomes unstable (falls) and then very stable (heap o' cards).
I think the bus-widening trend for CPUs got derailed but the core-multiplying trend. Why engineer a 128-bit bus, when you can just do 2x 64-bit operations at the same time, or better, 4x 64-bit ops to emulate a 256-bit operation? Or..
All without having to design a new bus, architecture, addressing scheme, etc. Just chuck more cores at it.
Would that not make this 4D NAND?
I mean, not in reality, as the strings are still functionally at 90* to the bitlines and wordlines; but if the addressing is Die, Layer, Word, Bit that could be described (and marketed as) 4D Flash Memory.
Of course if they do figure out how to make the strings 90* to the TSV, bitlines, and wordlines to make true 4D NAND, well.. that would just be awesome.
In this case, I don't think it's punishment for cheating, I think it's eugenics. The false markings remove the correlation between the ability to fight and the markings. This could lead to an inferior queen getting the spot because of her marks, and producing week workers and eventual colony collapse. The reduced JH and harsher "beat-down" is to ensure that the genetic anomaly will never reproduce, and the "lying" (read: broken) genes are eliminated from the gene pool.
I had written a wall-o'-text, but here's the short version: She's female, and this puts her in the spotlight, and the spotlight shows all the crap that successful politicians do, and make her slime all the more noticeable. She also has a core of support that shields her from any backlash from slimy moves that go wrong.
Well, there is G. Johnson, but because he wouldn't up the News shows' ratings he doesn't get much air time. Oh, and because he's a 3rd party "he doesn't stand a chance" so most people discount him, so he likely won't.
Personally, I refuse to throw my vote away, so I'll be putting my mark down for Johnson.
