Re: Whatever you do, don't show the Win 8 scrreen!

I think you are confusing moving optics (zoom?) and fixed focus.

Fixed focal length is a very differentent thing to fixed focus. No high end phone camera is fixed focus as far as I'm aware, that would be twatty. Probably best we leave hyperfocal distance for another day though. Feet are essentially your zoom with a fixed length lens.

The inherent quality of the glass/plastic the sensor/film is looking through is where you get bang for buck. Certainly makes a bigger difference to images than any of the other technical points mentioned. Who is that Zeiss fellow anyway..

That aside, if EOS is a combination of pureview 1&2 then I'm going to happily put up with WP.

At the end of this..

Wouldn't it be funny if apple ended up paying 30% in a deal.

Re: Not what I was waiting for

Exactly my predicament... funny how the N8 is still! the most versatile converged device.

Re: Fragmentation?

That's the rub though, the amount of 'choices' apple make carte blanche for their clientele is starting to bite them on the arris.

I don't think they can change a drilled in ethic this strong overnight. Trouble is they need too.

Bit like Lewis leaving McLaren, you gotta depart the jobsian way but stay close to home kinda thing. Or just stop shlitigating yourself out of all credibility and put a memory card slot in a phone.

Bit cheeky but I think #susanalbumparty tipped the balance.

Glitches

Streaming audio giving more regular hiccups over the last few weeks too, usually signifies a snafu somewhere in their network. This story popping up at least means I can stop getting angry with my router.

One thing for certain...

The first i one will be shit, followed by a miraculously revolutionary version 2...3....

4 will be particularly cool I hear...

etc etc, no thanks.

So vape it then...

If it really is just a bit of rock...

Don't buy it myself, at least go for a closer sniff... might save drilling holes, you never know.

Arm the laser!

Interesting certainly, and an uneasy feeling, looks skeletal.

Tho that could be the beer and my incomprehensible desire for ribs.

it is still Friday right?

Chris 171

Unsurprising really..

The phones may be nice but their still mee too devices in a flat slab kinda sense.

Save for a rumor of full fat PureView coming I'd given up trying to want a WP Nokia.

Chris 171

Time is short it seems...

That's the smell of panic as the lasts of the RDF burns off the brand, time for some running around in circles at infinite loop.

I have no suggestion as to how they fix this.

Re: Please Jobs

He started it!

Beggars belief really, apple customers must surely start to be wondering if their choice of shiny, really warrants coming from a company who are in reality, just a saccharine soaked marketing mouthpiece with a penchant for excessive pecuniary.

Fuck apple longtime & not in a nice way, they need to find reality if they want to halt the slide their currently accelerating down.

Fire Sale?

I mean they look nice (Like a very big Sony X1060 Walkman if you ask me) but yeah RT & Win8 is just not cricket.

Still cant fathom how they could make something so unintuitive.

I blame apple.

Raison d'être

Do people really need telling that apple mobile products are just wallet raping hobbled devices?

Far far to limited to be called a 'smart' device in my eyes, its only smart is taking the 30% cut so the marketing team can keep the cool cannon firing.

iTwats gotta love em.

The ones that are purposely placed on the screen to garner the most accidental taps?

Click fraud essentially and the elephant in the room with these stupid numbers.

Not today, likely never, thanks.

Symbian...

Bring it back quietly I say & make the 808 available easily in the UK. Better that than sullying Nokia hardware with Android in my eyes. Or an N8 eqivalent with Pureview, that would sell too.

Its clear why Elop did what he did, cant help thinking though that even if the Symbian devs were still fired there was enough life left in Belle for another flagship device or two .

Maybe then when WP is actually up to speed with the competition, people can see a clear & simple upgrade(?) to the latest WP device, that does just what the S^3 devices can do right now and have been doing for the last 2 years!

Until the next lawyer finds a hole and it will start over again.

You Americans like litigation tooooo much!

Well there's a turn up, I wonder if the devices will have expandable memory and normal SIM cards?

Marine designers...

Must be pissing themselves, I've been given a cheap RC yacht for Christmas that's got better lines than this. Tho in black it at least might look a bit meaner.

So essentially it's a floating pile of i devices with a mirrored bow, makes it marginally more useful I suppose...

Photographs regardless how digitally mangled will always be somebody's.

Essentially fraping your own userbase on content that harbors personal feeling is just stupid.

Flickr has it right, even if it's not cool because you have to pay for it.

Hahahahahaaaaa haaaaaaaaaa

Delightful! Like people didnt see this coming from the off..!?

Just as Flickr have started pulling the stick out of their proverbial too. That said, Flickr could do without a megadump of hipster chintz (seems from what Ive seen to be the alt repository of choice), there are enough eyebleeding HDR images already as it is.

Flickr had all this in the palm of its hand for years, heres hoping for a resurgence.

Chris 171

apple cant get the content...

As the studios wont let them have it, hardly surprising given the 30% kerching machine that is itunes, why would a company want to make it that easy for a competitior to make money...?

It wont be anything other than a giant wall mounted ipad, with stupid connectors, friction stir welded into permanent never to replaced place.

No thank you.

I too struggle to understand why we're not yet lusting after a Nokia tab.

I'm thinking N8 design cues on a 7 inch device.

I'd buy one anyway.

Not just video

I stream audio at 192k for a majority of the day - guaranteed glitches at least 3/4 times an hour on a 20meg connection.

Wondering if it might have anything to do with them prioritising thier own streaming services?

Either way VM, you shout about having the best network....

Make it so!

And didnt there used to be a ROTM icon? or is that the bizarro 'your foster parents' one nowadays?

It works in Opera!

Surprised me that one, just a few login circles to negotiate and the streams pours fourth, in not to shabby quality either.

Very glad also to see the Sky sports channels included, roll on the Droid app and playing recorded content direct from the box.

Chris 171

That's better.

Though the print copy doesn't really identify as coming from apple enough in my eyes, needs the logo for maximum efficacy.

I wonder who rode roughshod over the presumably sensible advice, re not posting the arcing pacifier that was the first 'we were talking out of our ass' clarification?

Not that I'm complaining, but I am wondering if their seemingly bullet proof shoes are getting a bit threadbare by now.

Chris 171

What's the score now?

apple have clearly run out of ideas (see recent product releases) by resorting to this kind of lame ass litigation.

Almost looks like their running around in circles.... Oh...

I really really despise how apple do business.

Chris 171

WTF?

Incredible...

These are not computers, they are things. A lamp as an example.

Do you need extreme thinness from a desktop device? at the cost of losing functionality? Big fat no on both. More functionality in the same size box as before please.

Can't even rip a CD on a machine over 2 feet across.... that's some 'design' right there.

Chris 171

FAIL

apple innovation harvest low this season..

Same stuff with different measurements, same bland OS.

The side bezel looks a bit thin too but then apple know ergonomics right?

The competition are already way ahead with unique designs to really start drilling home the benefits of a well resourced R&D dept. Will the fanbois notice? Doubt it...

A flat near featureless slab is not my idea of good tech.

Finally, I sincerely hope 'education' via ipad poking is a very small fad, what a sorry state of profiteering... apple essentially stealing kids dinner money to aid their quest for cash. Sick.

Big Shame....

Having only experienced Symbian via my N8 it has indeed been an extremely usable device, I can't see whats so badly wrong with it personally & do hope it lives on somehow.

Heres hoping the wait is not too long for Mobile & Mini on WP8. I dont want to use any other browser.
