Aye, ZEN

Where as I do agree with you BigBadAl, I actually moved from ZEN to BE on the basis of faster up/dwn speeds (Prior to ZEN going 20Mbps). They also had a nasty limit which, being a media designer pushing and pulling vast amounts of content from our servers I used to hit the limits every month. BE sorted that, and was half the price.

So yes, ZEN is superb, but for moderate users with a healthy wallet :-)

For those still using the detestable Thomson router: Bin it and get something else, FTLOG! First thing I did really, after asking the cs chaps to give me the details. All to happy to oblige, and now have a sparkling Draytek instead.

...which dimwit voted AGAINST this fact? - "The Civil List"

ok.. this smacks of "playgroundism" (TM) as some dimwit voted against Pete's post.

It's fact, and a fact that many Ney-Sayers always stand dumbfounded at when confronted with these facts.

Nice one Pete, a pint is on it's way to you! :-)

Mars

i thought it had partly been shaped by seas, but the current surface geology was by sandstorms, no?

.. now I'm thinking of trawling through Spirit and Opportunity's archives! Bliss!

..nah.. not for me..

Gimme the gimmicky laser keyboard that I had a go at all those years ago. Just wish the production ones were as good (or are they? Havent' tried one since their public launch..)

Last Ditch Attempt?

RAT arm to coerse the "little" fella down the hill again? Of course, I do not know what the load bearing potential is, and it could quite easily render the arm useless, but there are other things Spirit could do without the arm. Dragging that wheel won't help matters for sure..

Just a thought (which no doubt a person in the know will hopefully set me right)

Thank you Spirit - your info and pictures so far have been awe-inspiring. One of my faves is definitely the Mars Sunset. Just beautiful.

Good Afternoon Reading

Absolutely fascinating to read all about the LHC and these comments.

Someone owes me a new keyboard tho.. but I'm sure some of these accounts are duplicate..

Hmm.. who to send the bill to...

... great ...

So all the shower and bathroom glossys that you can get from Jewsons when you were a kid would be banned?

I truly weep for the younger generation that will be brought up in an archaic prudish Britain. more laughing from our relaxed neighbours across the pond and channel..

...pdf link has gone down

Shame really as I would have liked to have a nosey at it..

It was here:

http://idealgovernment.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/GOV_ICT_Strat1.pdf

But now it's gone. Probably served with a Take Down notice.. hurrumpff!

Anyone else seen it linked?

Alex 32
WTF?

@AC

" than blow £20 on a single BR"

20 quid?? Shop around m'son! £20 is almost double the amount for most BR! Granted, if you want the latest releases, you'll pay 17 quid for a double disker, but 2 months later it's cheaper.

"Shop-shop-shop--shop--shop--shop--shop. Tree-tree-tree-tree-tree-tree-tree. Ahhhh.. Baby Jeeesus..."

Adult games are bad for kids...

So don't allow the kids to buy them. Let Adults buy them instead..

@Lars

Whole-heartidly agree with you!

Never burn your bridges, and never wash the ex's linen in public; no matter how sorely you feel.

It's just the professional way..

It's early, but i'll drink to that sentiment anyway

Firstly, then secondly

1st : "The scheme is somewhat reminiscent of the idea, sometimes suggested for US police, of automatic gun cameras intended to record the target of every shot fired for use in subsequent investigations."

So in other words a bit like "KillCam".. Gruesome. I prefer this Blackbox idea.

2nd : I like this, although it really wouldn't work for the home market, as it could quite easily be tampered with. For Law Enforcement and the Army would most proabably benefit.

Carry on!

Alex 32

So basically..

..for the cost of a few full priced games, you are back in business.. until they do something else.

Kudos for the guys who found out a way - that's dedication for you

But surely, if you have a donner console that then wouldn't be able to play online afterwards, why not just use the donner console for the online games, and the hacked console for whatever.. [Yes, I'm guessing I'm missing a point quite big here.]

Meh, I'll stick to buying the games and supporting the good game developers that are welcome to my money in exchange for my enjoyment.

Poor Saps

Surely, the poor saps who are going for this should be given it free of charge at least?!

Black Helicopters

hmmm... suspicious..

Curious that they are not releasing the info on the contents..

Another Black Ops Project, including Balck Ops Equipment, from the Black Ops Agencies of the UK... Probably utilising Dark Fibre (had to get that in..! Sounds good 'dunnit'?)

I'll be very intrigued to know what the kit was.. They usually divulge the inventory. hang on.. was it computer consignments... or something more sinister..?

Black Ops Helicopter obviously...

Good news to a point..

..but water generally has organisms on it. Where as this could be good news, it could also mean bad. Yes, Dr. W-who was on last night ("Waters of Mars"), but thinking of it rationally, I'm not talking about Alien Posessions et al. I'm more concerned with further organisms that might contaminate our already contaminated water supply here on Earth.

I say we set up Moon Base Alpha and do tests on it. I vote for being Tony Verdeschi (RIP)

@Super & @Richard L

@Super - you don't need GbE for 1080p. My systems can cope over homeplug with no issues.. granted, depending on your resolution. (That was my foot I just shot)

@Richard L - This was designed and set gold prior to the N Standard being (FINALLY!!!!) agreed. But the the reality is that even with the new final standard thoeretically providing 600Mb/s, it actually only comes close to 100Mb/s. Unless of course you have line of site, or it's situated virtually 10 feet away through a wall. It would also depend on your wifi router, as I'm sure someone will pick me up on these (in my real life) figures. But I think you were more pointing to the fact that it lacked wifi purely for connectivity, right? If that's the case, you could always add a Game-Port wifi conenction like Netgear do (Had one for my PS2) - that would work.. but then you have the issue of bandwidth

Nice little box though, especially for the money and quiet running

"Bloody noisy fan, and no decent replacement!"

That is all :o)

Alex 32

@Inachu & @Colin

Else, I'll just stick with my 3G

@ACs

..I think you are missing my point, but it must be me not explaining my point very well.

Sarcasm aside (I'm looking at you @AC 10:55, you coward), favourites would work on the return visit, but searching would be a bit difficult when the address is www.英國臺灣同.ch.

Alex 32

Might be wrong about this but..

... what if there is a website in China that I need to get to, but it's in Big5? Does that mean I will need to map a layout, or get an onscreen package to key in the characters?

Might be enriching for the non-latin countries, and I'm not against it. Just wondering is all.

Alex 32
Black Helicopters

A solution?

Why not move all the older Harriers to the empty carrier instead. Yeah, so you get a lengthy period of ROI on them, but if you re-used them then we would have two carriers?

I might be completely missing the point, but with an IT head on, it called: "Re-utilising of old assets to save money".

(I probably am missing the point, but it's an honest suggested solution)

Black Helicopters, because i like 'em ;o)

@D@v3: Netbook? I thought this was a Notebook? Still, agreed it is expensive..

I don't know about most, but I actually prefer the feel of a sturdy weighted laptop. Doesn't blow away when you are in the park, or slide off the desk on a train.. Sure it'll be fit for someone

"the only way to get any media into the player is to burn it onto CD first"

Philips being Philips, I would expect that you would have to have a certain folder structure on the USB drive/key before it would recognise the files on it.

Can't say for certain, but I'm sure it will be like my Philips player from way back.

Did you try it?

Alex 32
WTF?

"meh" from a PS3 fan

Looks shit. I would have prefered something a bit more .. envolved; like donning a pair of gloves that enable intricate actions in game (as a small example).. To me, the "Wand" looks like some sort of bad SciFi prop from the 70's = Bad.

When can we get something along the lines of "Better Than Life"?

Nice, but..

not liking the idea that I would have to BUY the games I have again. Would prefer to get them off tape (...erm...) and then synch them to the iPhone accordingly..

...actually, hang about... nah, forget it. Sounds like there's too much development envolved.. especially as it's a bit of fun. Time to dust off the C64 from the loft!

So, yeah, nice :o)

Oh HELL yeah! Now they are built to last - even the games are.. remember the landfill site somewhere in Texas??

Still got the Vic20, Atari 2600, Speccy 48k rubbered keys, and ZX81..

but the ZX81 is very tempermental so I won't in clude that in the "Bombproof" category.. considering one such occasion I sneezed in the direction of the '81 and hours of coding vapourised in a colourful hex dump on screen... "why.. WHY?!" *head-smack*
