would i but one..
Fill in the gaps.... would I ++++!
Will google be censored
I mean, what I wanted to know about the latest scandal involving MPs; MP has under-age sex with teenage boy. Or something to do with abuse of anyone? Rape Victim harassed by nutty DJ.
If you've got kids and you want to keep them safe on line, take responsibility. You don't buy them a chain saw and let them go into the garden, so step up and take responsibility for your own offspring. Don't expect every one else to "help" you. A step for a hint, don't let them use the net unsupervised.
If we go further down this path then then we'd all just best set our proxys to that one in China and be done with it.
We have a saying in Scotland:
( feel free to argue about the punctuation )
It is always the parents fault....always....he sounds like a catch...well done Mrs NutJob for landing him....and he's screwed his daughter over in so many ways...as you have all rightly pointed out...guy's a twat...just a shame he's an IT twat too...I hope I never have to work with the cnut :)
Missing the GeoStationary Point
Ah...that title has no meaning...don't let it worry you...
but what we need to do is attach engines to the EARTH. That way we are in control :) ha ha...off to escape from my straight jacket now :)
Ford....Not by human thought...so when your car auto-parks over someones' toes....not your fault...no human thought...well..maybe the speed...how long till that aspect is removed? It'll be interesting to watch in any case... I've used too many of these .... now ....
Don't read this...
I've said it before, and I'll say it again....yawn....what a fecking waste of human resources....imagine what good these companies could do if they were working for humanity and not just for their bottom line....all pulling in the same direction as opposed to fighting each other...a doubling, at least, of productive capabilities...in the mean time....watch the court battles...this is, after all, a natural system that must have been given to us by god....
If we, as a species, feel that we "know it all", and that our "currently established laws" somehow describe the totality and that then allows us to make sweeping statements about what is and what is not possible then we are, as my title suggests, children.
Keep asking the questions...
Our fire has become our electricity...what will our electricity become?
That ID would not be allowed on Google+ . So good luck with your move :)
...For the link...Now I have to look into what "mobilenationhq" is all about...having just about bought the idea of Basic4Android...hmmm
The notion of developing an app in a browser freaks me....google App Factory...brrr...
The point was made before....in capitalism a company does not get "taken over" or enter into deals that are not "beneficial to it", unless they have to. "They have" is defined as "keeping their profitability", in this case. It's easy to blame M$ if we dismiss the larger picture. For a better understanding of that, head to http://www.realityinfo.org . Peace.
L33t Operation to Heaven And beyoNd?
Landing Obviously Harder thAN taking off... :D
Launch Over Hope And Nous
If only you'd given us a better name to work with... :D I don't know any "celebs" :(
There's no IT in the name...
I Like This :)
"Secondly he accused Google of blocking Windows Mobile phones from **working properly** with YouTube." ( My *s )
So you can access OWA via IE and get a full interface but on FF or anything else you only get a cut down version. In fact, as you log in you get told:
"If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer 6 or later, you can only use the Light client."
Restrictive? I mean, we pay for the service...Oh yeah, there's the problem :)
Fiddle me this...
I Love it,..
There are two strands to this story
1) Business as usual. Your tax payers money straight into the hands of private companies.
2) Less murder machines on our planet. Result.
No more killing please people, this is not the dark ages. Fuck, it’s not even the 90s. Time to grow up.
I'm still looking for the IT angle mind...
That made me smile..I wrote a very similar line in a comment of an assember(80x86) file viewer that I wrote, many, many years ago. It was able to show 4GB files in the good old DOS days..I wrote..
When we have files larger than 4GB, I'll think about re-writing this....
Time to head to the drawing board...I'll give you a kick when we meet your wake up point...don't get too comfy...
I suppose this is why we're in geek-ness...it's just so dynamic and fun :)
RBE or RBOSE
Google it...Money is not the root of all evil...of course...but the antagonistic competition for profit is...it pits me against you...money is only the oil...still, we can, as a species, live without either...You lot have just not worked it out yet..one day :)
Time for the brightest minds on the planet to waken up I'd say...
"If all goes according to plan, it will dock "directly and autonomously" with the ISS's Zvezda module on Thursday, 24 February."
WOW! Really!? We can do this but still we have war, famine, poverty, unemployment, homelessness back down on the planet...tech, I'm sure, will help save us, for sure...I think it's way over time we used it for the benefit of all humans...oh yeah, that means you! I'm connected...
"More recently, Sony has expanded its legal offensive to other PS3 hackers by requesting subpoenas that, among other things, would force Google to identify people who viewed videos posted to GeoHot's private YouTube channel."
Really? So "knowing stuff" now is a crime. Well, we saw that with that dude that downloaded that terrorist training manual...I wonder what would have happened to all those readers of the (g)olly R0dgers C00k book back in the day? Rip your brains out now in case you have ever seen or learned anything that you've never put into practice which may or may not be deemed or not deemed "illegal" and against the profits of company x,y,z or the gov....run!
Good man yourself. I was just going to say the very same thing...well done BBC! NOT! Apples belong in orchards! Send them back:)
More functionality or not, this is a development for a minority of a minority...total waste of time / tax money.
...while Rome burns...
Springs to mind....
Gullible is not in the dictionary...
"The software giant points out that maintaining three accounts, presumably with three different passwords, is a pain."
Yeah, and the more "data" that M$ can control, the better.
"Small set back for gov"..."large step forward"..."the move is great"....it's great for one thing..and one thing only; PROFIT.
They tax you.
They give that money to large "boys club" companies.
Who pay you
They tax you
It is *NO* problem for this system to create tech that it "doesn't use", in any way....as the usefulness of the project has already been realised...until next time...
Get off now you know :)
The Elephant In The Room
I know you all accept this is a "as it is", and "how it has to be"...but the elephant in this particular room is that *any* of the day to day working of *any* of our civil SERVANTS is in any way classified at all.
Truth and openness, it would seem, are the enemies of the state.
What are they hiding?
We elected them.
They WORK for us.
They are only our REPRESENTATIVES, but yet they keep all their discussions etc behind closed doors.
You are a fool if you think this is healthy or “pro-you”; it’s not.
The top of Page 2 was...I got to the bottom of Page 1 and had a good chuckle along those very lines...
"Open sourcers might chuckle at the predicament of the Windows fan:"
Of course that dude that *expect*s M$ to fix this! Yeah...And world capitalism really is really good for you and for all humans...DOH
Skull and Cross Swords as I'll be long in my grave before some folks waken up to the horrors...
Driving with the brakes on...
Just more evidence that the current system, capitalism, is holding humanity back.
Research budgets cut...so we'll have to wait for our time travelling hover boots then?
Let me get this straight...
So the gov pay, using collected taxes I presume, lawyers / others to protect folks that they have, potentially artificially, labelled as criminals. In essence, they have created a rule that means they can pump more public taxes back to private companies...yeah...another win for the boys club :)
"contemplate how lucky I still am and will continue to be and how most of the rest of the world would probably walk over broken glass to be in my position."
Just because the rest of the world may be daft enough to want to be in your position, doesn't mean that your position is anything like "human sensible". Every one into a gas chamber would rather be at the back of the queue, I dare say. No matter where you are, you're still in the queue.
It's called "thinking beyond".
The youth of today..
I dearly hope you're very young Mr/Mrs/Ms Ottoman...such perfect naivety. If you happen to be older than say, like, 20, then I applaud you for your belief. Of course, you could learn that the system is not really here for your views...that way you really would be engaging with reality. Heaven ( as if ) forbid. Google "Reality Info" for an education :) Serious. Try it:) All the best in your journey. Peace.
Thanks for an interesting read. :) Even if i've no half clue as to what you're really on about, it's handy to know that somone has a handle on these things :) Cheers.
Tim. Nice but...
“We should tax negative externalities” - Tim
Apply morals to an immoral system. Good start.
“and what we're trying to do is maximise the welfare of everyone, current and future.” - Tim
Is it really? I thought it was to maximise and maintain the profit motive and human exploitation under this anti-human system. For the facts that make it “anti-human” check out http://www.realityinfo.org.
Any form of “well crafted” hinted at in the following quote will only be judged in a bottom line somewhere: in profit. Which, as stated before, is anti-human.
“mockery of well crafted economics” - Tim
The best hope I can take from your article, with regards your understanding of humanity and the future direction, would be
“There's even the vague possibility that the adults will take over at some point and we'll end up with something that actually works: “ - Tim
Pitty you messed it up with the bit after the colon
“a simple carbon tax or a simple cap and trade scheme.” - Tim
Did you ever stop to think, even just for a second, that the current paradigm is just not working?
Enlightened human to human interaction awaits you Tim: come and join us thinking folks :)
Made me review my settings and lock things down :) Thanks for the prompt El Reg :)
Accepting all this on face value....that's one stunning picture...take it as wallpaper'd...Now if only we can leverage our own tech to start to sort this planet out then maybe we'll get a pass one day :)
Did i mention, ditch the current system, go pro-human :)
More evidence of why it's time, as a collective, to turn out back on the "profit motive". How much more evidence do you people need? Profit = Anti Human. The logic is plain to see. Get it sorted in your head. Then make it so #1.
Tick tick tick boom....Don't be holding it when it goes off...
“Our problem is that such public goods are terribly hard to make money out of. If we can't stop someone else from using them how can we charge for them? And therein lies that problem: if we can't charge for the use then how do we raise the money to find out all this wonderful new knowledge?”
How short sighted does one have to be to not see that any kind of profit making is actually holding humanity back? For example, contrast our connected nature ( http://realityinfo.org/main.htm#Slide=10 ) with our antagonistic production system ( http://realityinfo.org/main.htm#Slide=20 )and you will realise that we are holding ourselves back by looking for a “way to make money” ( profit ) from any technological idea. And to be fair, that spreads to all commodities.
And I’d have thought that elReg would have been into logic too?
What year is this?
Is this really 2009? Why are we still asking, like children, to be taken seriously? Surely it is obvious that the gov don’t give a damn about humans, and are only focused on their focus groups and their profit margings?
So we go back to the “ruler” and ask them to be more “pro-human”, and we expect them to say what?
How many times do you have to ask the oppressor or challenge their ways before you realise that “doing it yourself” is going to be a lot easier in the short and long term. The other way, you just get yourself arrested. http://www.realityinfo.org/news/?p=155
Get a grip. Do this our way :)
"Shame on NuLabour. Big business over rides everything - Even human rights"
How right you are. Profit before people, at *every* turn.
"Vote for change. If you don't vote you can't complain."
How totally mistaken you are. Voting and "believing" in this system is what has gotten us here in the first place. Bush(snr),Clinton(Bill),Bush(jnr),Clinton(Hilary): two ruling class names since 1989, is a prime example of "democracy". If you think the colour of the tie around the politicians neck makes them "any different" and "suddenly pro-human and anti-profit", you've a lot of learning yet to do.
Stick with it dude, you'll get there. It's not rocket science:) Check out the Zeitgeist Movement and Reality Info. And welcome from your slumber :)
