Space Commanders rebel as Elite:Dangerous kills offline mode

Simon Westerby 1

>> Almost any gamer these days has a decent internet connection, the amount of people effected by this are minimal.

1 - not all "gamers" want to game online 24/7.

2 - In X years time when the servers are gone and the game you spent X years playing and enjoying becomes utterly worthless - try fishing out that disc in 30 years and reliving those memories!!

Why are the above so hard to understand for some people? I'm guessing this is the xbox360/PS3's gernation who never really new what offline gaming was all about.

*sigh* ... I'm off to be abused by the above on WOT... i need some more nerd rage.

Re: 16-page document I was working on last night won’t fit onto a floppy

I have 3 Zip drives... 2 Parallel (with driver CD's) and one IDE (internal) and an LS120 "SuperDrive"

LS120 - Won't mount in Windows XP or beyond unless I use an External IDE - USB adapter.

Google Nexus 5: So easy to fix, it's practically a DIY kit - except for ONE thing

Simon Westerby 1

Re: Really?

I replaced an iPhone 4s screen/digitiser for < £50 at around 18 months ago (6 months into an 18 month contract!) i would call that pretty shiny at the time and far better then a an £200 Apple repair cost (at the time!).

The phone has since then been traded in / upgraded for an iPhone 5 and accepted for £250 cash back...

Shop around and you can get a decent deal on spare parts.

If your running windows 7 then just install SUA... (SUbsystem for Unix Applications)

Gives you Korn shell, and although its not great it does allow you to shell script and is integrated into the OS pretty well (/dev/fs/C for instance for disk C: )

Its a poor mans Unix but its ok...

British games company says it owns the idea of space marines

Simon Westerby 1

The trademark in question is a US Trademark in the area of games... Not Books/eBooks

GW are trying to assert the trademark in that area (ebooks)- which is really quite sad.

The Paper print version of the book is still (or was yesterday) available on amazon for sail.
