My telly broke 2 months ago
My telly broke 2 months ago, before that I hardly ever used it. Mainly due to iPlayer, apart from the leaders debates (which I watched online) I don't remember the last time I watched a program made by anyone but the BBC.
I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in this...
As for worldwide, just tell em to turn a profit...
I'd like to register as an ISP?
My customers? Well there's just the one, me!
I provide the service via radio link, yes wi-fi that's right.
If companies can do this why not people?
A desperate fanboi
A desperate fanboi blinded by his religion and spiritual leader, having taken a bite of the fruit, would fully believe that these are copies of the ipad, after all Apple went to market first right, it doesn't matter that the likes of HP were developing much earlier...
I stopped reading when I got to...
...your fail over what's in Google's archive.
I believe they were referring to software and designs acquired or developed in house.
Boring...
Shut up about this thing, it doesn't have Flash, it doesn't have a proper OS, and it doesn't stand up on its own unless you cart about the dock.
It's a heavy cumbersome media player, nothing more...
Spain
So Mr Haines, how is Spain?
How to enforce it...
Make ID cards compulsory and do not allow the sale of alcohol without a check of said card against a database of offenders. ;)
Oh dear...
It seems el reg is on the tory payroll...
equally awesome?
No way, Dub Side of the Moon wins hands down. :p
Heh, happy easter.
Goats Pigs Donkeys
I thought they were too busy translating. ;)
at least until it gets downsized by the incoming Conservative government. ®
Asuming we wont all be struck down with a case of common sense. ;)
Bye bye Murdoch
He's making the Internets a safer place by putting all his hate behind a paywall, good on yer Murdoch, now do the same with all your tory prop.
Public funded
Public funded means this infrastructure should be owned by the public and open to all ISP's. Why should we pay a tax in order for a private company to make a profit?
What's all the fuss about?
He got an apology, he was clearly within his rights, has he been back? Can he now wear his hood in government buildings?
both drives?
"Both drives support Freeview's DVD-T system as well as Freeview HD's DVD-T2, which, despite the name, is entirely incompatible with the older standard."
Drives? DVD-T & T2, gizza job I can write a more accurate article and I didn't get to sleep last night till after 2am. :D
How many of them have degrees
Recruitment people are worse than estate agents, they cold call...
I for one...
hope it doesn't come to the UK.
Kill Radio 1 & 2
They seriously need to go, and not in two years, I mean now!
Their presenters are overpaid, and these two stations are killing commercial radio, if the BBC were serious about these cuts they would be saying the same.
Marketing people
Should not be allowed near connected computers.
If he is caught
Plenty of people will chip in on the legal expenses, this guy is a hero!
How much are the bosses paying themselves?
Survey that!
Windows 7 phone?
Given the success/relief of win7, doesn't it make sense to call it the 'Windows 7 Phone series' giving some consistency to their product naming.
MS do so badly with marketing, design and communication, it's a shame, they could do great things...
So Google are doing a field trial
This is research, I don't blame them for it, it's not like the ISP's give a shit about improving speeds!
Sooo El Reg...
The question is... When will you stop using Flash for adverts on your site?
Free whitepaper – Intelligent Server Consolidation with System Center
Hahahaha, excellent contextual advertising. :D
Here here
Sir, you should have written the article! Excellent summation.
You deserve a pint of the good stuff.
:)
What a fucking TARD
Mr Jobs, I don't remember Nokia and SE saying you are evil, you don't support Flash because you will loose your stranglehold over what users can run on *your* iPhones, and you sir are a douche!
P.s. I like the look of your iPad, but I'm waiting for the Ubuntu (Cracked) version so I can choose what apps to run, including Flash, if I'm paying money for a computer, I choose what software I run on it, not you.
Car sick
I'm just sick of trying to get a bus anywhere, the roads are full of cars, each with no passengers, and at night you have to put up with speeding cars.
Unfortunately car drivers are no longer a minority, when it comes to road traffic.
Sick of it
Patents like this are wrong, Apple did not invent multi-tap/multi-touch they should not be awarded a patent for it.
Yes... And?
Why cant we have foil in the covers to shield the chip when the passport isn't open?
Blimey
Not to mention that as the article said, Apple had to patch twice! Hardly an example to follow.
known issue with Android
Not known to me, HTC Hero's 3 users at my company since September never seen this.
HTC Hero
My HTC Hero is fine, the update in September fixed the slight lag it had for the first few weeks, even that wasn't a problem considering what the phone can do compared to other smartphones.
Android 2.1 will be available for the Hero soon, I'm looking forward to Google maps with speech.

The iphone does look dated, the Android UI doesn't to me, it is at least customisable. They do need to work on the case tho', although I said that about the Hero and now I love the 'chin', some times looks are deceiving, the Hero 'chin' has stopped me dropping my phone countless times while typing/taking photos.
excellent vision
That would be the same excellent vision that prevented the Vulture from getting trapped?
Anything for a buck in ZA.
Hah!
Good to see that iPhone will not be developed for yet, it would be a shame for an open source project this big to support such a tightly controlled and closed platform.
I'm looking forward to the Android version. :D
I call Bullshit on this article!
On opening source "Just like any other public company, really." ok when did MS open any code because "it believes that doing so will help the company's bottom line"?
And Internet gatekeeper is just plain wrong. People choose to use Google services.
When you buy a PC it has a browser, IE, which has it's search default to Bing, people choose to change this to Google, the home page is MSN people choose to change this too.
Quit the monopoly talk, there ain't one!
Get over it
So a few people with big mouths got stuck on a train, stuff breaks down in odd situations, tech isn't perfect, humans are not in absolute control of everything.
Simply put. Shit Happens!
I agree :D
Let's kill sky, it will save ITV and 4, the only program I will miss is Brainiac and they prolly buy that in anyway!
Sky are out to destroy this platform
We need to have this, there needs to be a decent multi-channel platform to balance with Sky Freeview just don't cut it!
I don't understand why Sky don't just join the alliance like they did (Kinda) with Freeview, it would work well for them, they can hook people with a low cost subscription, they are out to destroy this platform and should be treated as hostile!
@AC
The whole point is most people aren't tech savvy, they plug it in, it works.
The API idea goes against the easy to use rule, like iPlayer it will have a common interface on all devices.
They cannot extend past 7 days due to limits imposed by the BBC trust to protect DVD sale income.
There will always be piracy due to people wanting what's not generally available.
"My suspicion is that this is not an intentional power grab,"
Recent history shows your suspicion is wrong!
